IMPORTANT NOTICE! This hack conflicts with Numenor's Custom objects placeable on OFB displays and shelves hack. Numenor was kind enough to include my hack into his version and provide additional download for merged hacks! If you want both features in your game, download his uupdated hack instead! Thanks, Numenor!

MAXIS PATCH FIXED THE PROBLEM! The latest patch for OFB and FFS fixes the problem of locked tiles. If you install the patch, you will no longer need this hack, simply delete the file from your Downloads folder.
_______________________________________________

This fix is for Open for Business only. It allows you to place any object within 2-tile wide area of a lot along the road. By default that area is locked and you get “out of bound” message if you try to place anything in there.

Place the file into your Downloads folder. Delete to uninstall.

The fix does not affect the objects already on a lot. You have to buy the object to place it in the locked area. No cheat code required for object placement.

If you are going to use this fix, you don't need to download my OFB mailbox fix, this fix will work for maibox and trashcan as well. But you still need a collection file to make mailbox buyable. Collection is available in the same thread

Just like any other hack, use at your own risk.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

I'm the one who couldn't (and still can't) place a driveway without the "out of bounds" thing even if I knew it was a perfectly OK place. Came back to report that I had a peculiar phantom mailbox and trashcan on one lot and that I had a couple of screenshots. Well. I read about the conflict with the shelves hack and said "Hmm, that could be it." I pulled the shelves hack out of my downloads and I'll let you know if that fixes things.

Thanks!

There is a new shelves hack available, Charlene5, the one that includes locked tiles fix as well. Try that version instead.

Default Works also with walls?
This a BIG question.
Does this hack allow me to build walls (and other built-mode stuffs) on the latest two tiles of the lot?
Mainly I think about left and right sides (looking from the road) of the lot.

The hack only affects objects, I doubt it will change anything else.

Thanks for this wonderful hack! and..
I have one request and question.
I think this hack can't affect build mode, doors, windows. right?
Is there any hack that can build doors, windows in looked area?

Not that I know of. Besides, that area is locked for a reason, don't you think? Building something there might damage a portal for example.

I've been waiting and looking for a hack like this since O4B ruined my life! I love building beyond the road...changing the road, building bridges going across the road. This is a great hack! Thnks

Do the new OFB & FFS patches interfere with this hack? Descriptions of the patches include "Moveobject cheat can now be used to manipulate and place objects in out of bounds tiles."

I will have to check that. But if those patches fix the problem, why do you need this hack?

I guess that's what I'm asking -- do I still need this hack?

I have FFS with the patch and I just tested my game without this hack. Wasn't able to place objects on locked tiles, getting "location out of bound" message. Doesn't look like the problem was fixed. Maybe someone else can confirm this?

You probably have one or two of the cheats enabled.

Type the following in the console:
Code:
boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false
boolProp MoveObjects false
.

Remove these cheats from your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\config\userstartup.cheat or globalstartup.cheat files if they're in there.
