Thank you for this! I was worried when all of my custom colored roofs were coming out dark, but now... Wow! This rocks!

Thank you so very much! I can't wait to test this in my game!

Surely, you appeared confused. No, the mod doesn't replace any roof but just show the roof in its full texture. Try some other roofs and custom roof recolours...

Most default roofs are actually very bright originally, and it was the shader that darkens all of them to be no brighter than 40% of the original texture.

Niol, if I download roof recolors from this site (that is if there are any) will they work with this installed? Actually, I'm asking that incorrectly, will this mod affect the custom roofs or roof recolors? Or does it only affect Maxis roofs? Thank you though, I always thought the colors were so dulled.

Simsane,
this mod will affect all roof recolours so that they can all show their original colours while the original Maxis shader will darken and dim all roof recolours including their own.
That's why without this mod, all roof recolours including Maxis's default ones are all darkened.

Thank you Niol! I always hated the shading on the Maxis roofs and I have downloaded other roof recolors in the past and they pretty much looked the same way. This is great!

This made all of my roofs pink, purple, or black with no tiles

WALLY ONE,

Which version of the mod is used for which version of the game?
Also, a screenshot will help.
Any other shader mod have you installed and what are they?

I need these infos to check out your problem.

I dont have a picture, and I downloaded all of them lol... I don't read anything. I have the sims two pets and open for bussiness, and the roofs are like bright pink and purple and they flash from pink/magenta to purple.

WALLY ONE,

There're currently 3 versions.

1.
Moi_roof-shader-modded-4whiteroof.rar
This mod is based on the TS2 (the base game) roof shader. And, it should work well at least down to the base game TS2 and up to NL.
2.
Moi_shaderRoof_ColourationFull.rar
This mod is based on the OFB roof shader. And, it should work well at least down to the base game TS2 and up to Pets.
3.
Moi_shaderRoof_SS_ColourationFull
This mod is based on Seasons' roof shader. It doesn't work with other lower EPs.
The EP6 BV version of the shader is the same as EP5 SS, just use the EP5 SS version for EP6 BV
...

Thanks for your liking all versions of it, just in case, only one version is used at a time.

According to your post above and your profile, Moi_shaderRoof_ColourationFull.rar should be used.

Oh wow...I have no idea where or how Maxis screwed this up, but this mod is perfect. I just thought all the thumbnails were misleading for some reason. XD Everything's so pretty now.

Wow, great work, but, it does lighten the roof too much. On the other hand, if you could make this a global shader for the entire game without the roof lightening that would be great, because it really made a difference in the shading of the walls and floors. They blended much better together. Don't know if you're still around, but any help would be appreciated. Anyone have suggestions to global shader mods that work? Also going to post this is WCIF section.

Thank you so much! This is absolutely huge. Almost every building in-game has a roof AND THEY WERE ALL TOO DARK! (in my humble opinion). Now in-game roofs are just like the corresponding build mode pictures, some dark and some light. I know I am going to enjoy roofing my buildings much more now that I got your mod. With it, there are actual choices, not just a bunch of too dark roofs that you can barely make out the pattern. It's too bad the creator has not logged on recently because this is not a proper thank you. Fellow TS2ers, if you are like me and think roofs are too dark, you need this mod.
