This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.

1939 Viking Convertible by Dr Pixel - updated Dec 6, 2008 to work with Numenor's Drivable Cars without NightLife game add -on.

Polys = 5199 (Original Maxis Car = 6514)

This is another car that never existed - this one is my interpretation of a car from the 1930's/1940's

The basic body shell is modified from a mesh found at 3d Cafe http://www.3dcafe.com/

The seats, tires, and steering wheel came from Maxis cars.

The rest was created from scratch.

Meshwork was done using MilkShape and the UniMesh plugins, and also the .ms3dascii import/export built in to SimPE.

It is a drivable vehicle, it REQUIRES the NightLife expansion pack or Numenor's Drivable Cars without NightLife game add on.

Doors and lights work correctly, but I had to disable the WooHoo "fog" effect.

There is a slight animation glitch - as the Sims get in/out of the car, their hand will go through the door for an instant.

This object may be recolored, and may be included in lot uploads

Recolors should link to this post so people can get the mesh

The mesh .zip has the mesh which is required for the other colors to work, plus the default Black body color and Classic Red interior color.

The Classic Colors .zip has 4 1930's style body color options, and two interior color options.

The Hot Rod .zip has 6 1950's style Hot Rod body colors, and 5 Hot Rod interior options.

Thanks to Vampcat, Cevic, Numenor, Pinhead, and Willem for their advice and information about editing the car meshes.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Yep!, Dr. Pixel is correct (lol) & I hope he doesn't mind me adding this...

Back in the 1930's some luxury cars had large tube/valve 'AM' radios in them, that had a fairly small control head mounted in dash and the main bulk of radio was tucked away somewhere out of sight like under the back seat or in the boot/trunk for example. Some even had record players in them, laid out like a mini Jukebox - which was okay if you were parked up, but not to reliable once under way!. This technology was very bulky and often required an extra battery to be fitted just to run it! - things changed for better in the 1940's. With the invention of the Transistor, thus making it easier to eventually build smaller and more reliable units - which then in turn led the way for ICs etc & the kit we have today! - for more detailed info. have a quick look at the BBC or Science Museum's websites - phew!, quick Nurse another Guinness!...

To all, of the very talented MTS-2 creative types - my sincere thanks for taking the time to create/upload/share...

congratulations on making a car with a sensible mesh size - most custom cars seem to have meshes in the 10MB range

Goddess, I've always wanted a car like this in real life. Well at least my Sim-me can have one. A thousand thanks!

I LOVE classic cars in real life, so imagine how boring it was just to have such blah options for cars in the game... Thank you, thank you!! At least now I can send my sims to work with much more dignity! Great work!

Wow! You may not have gone for total realism but you certainly captured the spirit and heart of the era in this creation.
Fantastic.
Now if we could only get one with a rumble seat! I rode in a car that had a rumble seat. Not much protection from the elements but what an 'E' ticket it was! Er, of course I was a very, very little tike and the car was very, very old at the time (clears throat, and again).
Thank you!

for reasons known only to the admins, this is no longer displaying in the regular downloads display -- I had to locate it via DrPixel's artist page

Thank you for many things. First your amazing designs. Second for your cool flame hot rods! And third, for making them compatible with Numenor's Driveable Cars for those without Nightlife.

You're a favorite!!
