I love this career, I use it a lot, it's a very good idea. Thank you!
But now I've installed Pets, I wonder if it will be compatible?

9) Associate Deal of Education
10) Dean of Education

Preschool teacher is not higher than substitute or student teacher in most states, high school teacher is not higher than elementary school teacher, and lecturer is not higher than professor.

Assistant coach would be about the level of a preschool teacher, education-wise. Library assistant would be below preschool teacher, as they're usually volunteers. Librarian would be about substitute teacher level. I don't even know what a part-time teacher is.

Don't feel bad though; no one gets it right. The only reason I know it is 'cause I live it.

this seems much closer, but i don't recall the natural progression being you start with preschooloers and work your way up to high school. all through school, i've had teachers who weren't much older than me. in middle school, i had a 26 year old teacher. in high school, i had a 27 year old teacher. in college, i have a 25 year old teacher who has 2 phds. meanwhile, my preschool teacher was a 50 year-old mother of a college student and she taught preschool from day 1 until retirement.

lol and my 27 year-old teacher in high school is wayyy too cynical and sarcastic to EVER be in charge of small children. playground supervisor? lol i wouldn't feel safe if i had kids and the person supervising them on the playground JUST decided they had an interest in teaching. lol you can't just work with little kids...the government has really strict requirements. they'd let you be a college dean before they let you be in charge of 25 5year olds.

so really, if your sim has a desire to ALWAYS TEACH and/or BE IN A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT and not just teach until they can become more powerful, like a superintendant who works at the board of education, usually not actually dealing with students ever, it's more like:

1) private tutor (like..you put up a flyer in the supermarket)
2) after-school program teacher (like a glorified tutor/babysitter for kids with parents who work until 6 and there's no babysitter. so they help 'em with homework)
3 or 4) teacher's assistant (they really just kinda stand there..learn the ropes of handling all those students)
4 or 3) student teacher
5) Substitute (a real teacher..just not daily. therefore, they should work like...2-3 days a week)
6) school teacher (public or private..doesn't matter. grade level doesn't matter)
7) assistant principal (where you have the option to get your master's in education to become a "better than average" principal...so they say)
8) school Principal
9) college professor (where your sims decide to get back to teaching..but are over qualified with masters degrees so they can't just be like..5th grade teachers)
9) college department head (because they're usually professors just..upgraded)
10) college dean (because they do actually have to meet with students)

and most of these people work from like..7-5. elementary school teachers probably start working at 8, since class starts at 9, but high schools start at like..7:30. and i guess they can pretend they grade papers at work from 2:30-5 (high school) or 3:30-5 (elementary school). but really..they always complained about not leaving before 5 because they had to grade stuff or meet with parents, colleagues or extra duties like tutoring for extra cash. the 27 year-old who i had in high school doubled as the varsity track coach and set up art displays in the halls with students since he was an art teacher.

and at my college, their hours are actually to 4:30, so..5pm works.

and until they're school principals, they really shouldn't make enough money to support their families. like...they shouldn't make more than $500 a day. they should barely cover bills and necessities lol.

Tis a good career, & it's all good complaining & suggesting about the levels, but to be fair it's all about what country your're playing in lol.

Im in the UK and kinda have to put up with weird things in my game anyway, so you know we don't ahve coaches at all - we have pe teachers, and we dont have principles either they're just head teachers etc etc

so this is a reaaaally good carrer!

THANKYOU =] xxx

Thanks for your hard work. You'll never please everybody--I grew up in the educational field and I can honestly say that it can often take a variety of tracks so all of you are right, really. In fact, some retired superintendents end up substituting, so there you go...

I'm so full of ideas for career tracks but am new to the modifying side of things--any pointers on how to get started, and then, how to get good at it?

It frustrated me that Maxis left this career out of the game, so thank you for solving that problem!
