Request fulfilled - Myne door allows multiple sims

Zuzeloth requested a hacked "myne door" for uni. This one overrides the original door so if you want a new door altogether, you'll need to clone this file. My reason for doing this was because you cannot place doors from build mode in a dorm and the dorms comprise of these doors anyway. That way, your dorm is ready to go.

It has an add key option and remove key option. It allows you to get the key to a dorm that is already claimed. Therefore, two people own it at once and if one gives up the key or unclaims it, the other still has ownership. So when you lock the door, anybody who owns it (has the key) can walk through it.

Please note that it may but probably doesn't need OFB and Pets. The reason I say this is because I have all expansions and the doorglobals have changed, however, I don't think the actual BHAV it uses were affected.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Thank you so much for this upload! I was just dreaming of something like this since I love playing apartment lots. It's annoying to always have to lock and unlock your door with the chance of an unwanted sim entering the room.

Just out of curiosity, will you consider releasing an OFB version where you can distribute keys using regular doors?

Wonderful job!

Thanks, minou_master. I'll tell you what, if you test out this door for me and let me know how it goes, then I can use that feedback to make the other doors. I'll give it a shot anyway but I believe there is already a door out there that does this - just not a dorm door.

Thanks!!! Tested.
I wanted a myne door that couple of students could claim and take the room (for instance - with a place for 2 pictures on it), but this one with a key works great. Although getting a key to one door give my sim access to all doors, so the townies have no privacy ;-) but it's not a problem as long as it is MY sim. The others can't get into my room.
I will surely use it!!! :D

Thanks for the heads up. So one key is as good as the next? Hmm, what have I done wrong? I will have another look at the code.

Minou Master, I have had 4-key doors at simlogical since the beginning of Sims2 so if you wanted a non-dorm door that could have multiple owners come on over and get some :D

Cathair, so this door makes each of the key owners into students of the dorm like the single-owner door? Or do they still need their own door as well?

one more thing: this door works only for controlled sims. the autonomous sims can't have keys and they simply claim the room. so if i wanted a crowd of townies in small dorm i still have to place 2 door per room :|

Zuzeloth, I'm really sorry I totally misunderstood your request. I thought you wanted controllable sims to be able to share a room away from the dormies. I'll fix this - I have an idea but for now, you can use the InSImenator's selector to make the autonomous sim selectable, having them get a key then make them unselectable. At least you can try that.

Oh and Inge, this door allows multiper "controllable" sims to use it even when it's locked if they have the key. They do not require their own door. In fact, it becomes their claimed door as well and they can't have another door because they already own this one. I hope this makes sense.

EDIT: Zuzeloth I just tried out again with what you said in mind. If you forcibly assign a dormy to a room, they won't sleep in that room with you. In fact, as you probably know by now, Dormies don't sleep they just stand and reenergize. It's part of their BHAV in the controller. That's why when you go into buy mode you see them standing. But if you assign a key to the door while they are sleeping and enter, they leave for some reason...

Thank you cathair2005 and Inge Jones for the links to non-dorm doors

cathair2005 I tried out the door and it works like it is supposed too. I tried it out in my regular neighborhood. Now my apartment sims can give a key to their significant other (just like in real life ). Of course, the only way to give visitors a key is to make them selectable using the boolprop cheat. I haven't tried giving my pets keys yet.

I had a slight problem with this hack earlier where the game would crash during loading. After removing my other hacks the game loaded fine. I don't know if this is actually the source of the problem but I am in the process of putting my other hacks in one by one. Also, the first few times I tried it out I only had NL, Uni, and OFB installed. Now I have pets installed and it works great. The only way to find out if it is a hack conflicting issue or expansion related issue is to place all my hacks back into the download folder. I'll let you know how it goes.

The smartdoor hack by tunaisafish isn't compatable with the Pets expansion. It causes the sinking pets problem. It probably won't be updated because I've heard that tuna isn't modding anymore.

minou_master, my fruit of life hack causes the game to crash if you don't have pets.

With the constant changes to the game everytime an expansion comes out, and with those changes rendering some (many) mods incompatible, nonfunctional, or buggy, I'm a bit cautious about downloading hacked doors. (As was already pointed out in this thread, the are problems with tunaisafish's doors with the Pets EP.)

To clarify, with your doors installed in a dormitory zoned lot, one student will claim the door, that student will give a key to another student (or does the other student simply claim a key?) and those two students will occupy the same dormroom as roommates (the normal arrangement in college dorms) but the door will otherwise function as the original Myne door?

Thanks.

Is it possible to give a key to visitors? Like if you have a sim that lives in a dorm and have a boy-/girlfriend on another lot (either university or regular neighborhood lot), can they give a key to the bf/gf when they're visiting?

It would be nice to be able to ask someone to spend the night in your room without all the other people in the dorm running in and out all the time.

Sincerely,
