I'm pretty sure i read somewhere (in my lefty calendar, maybe) that will wright is left handed, so it's likely that all sims are left handed as well.

Hey there. This scans as possibly needing an update for Free Time...any idea whether it still works?

I've got Free Time and had a Sim write in their diary and it still seems to work fine for me. If you find any different though please let me know.

What program do you use to find if hacks might need updating?

Thanks for the info. Pescado at MoreAwesomeThanYou has a command line tool that compares the previous EP's objects.package against the new one, then checks your installed hacks against the changes and lists any code that may need an update. Get it here:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...pic,3247.0.html

Also, he has posted the difference report for Free Time vs. Bon Voyage here (reports for previous EP's are in the same section of the site):

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...ic,11181.0.html

Syntax is explained in the RTFM included with the utility.
Not actually evil.

Maxis lazy? Errors in their code? I'm shocked! No, not really. XD Thanks for fixing this. I never noticed, but now that you pointed it out, it would have bugged me, hee hee.

Thanks a lot! I didn't notice either, but it's nice to know it's all fixed. =) Now I'm just pissed 'cause it looks like they're writing in a book... The pages aren't empty and the cover is the same... But I guess you can never have everything fixed. Lazy, lazy EAxis dudes. Anyway, thanks again. =)

Thanks for this fix. The Year is 2010, and I have the all the EPs installed (including the latest Apartment Life, and I have official patches for every EP), and the scalpel is still being used in the game. So as far as I know, this fix is still useful.

Actually it IS a scalpel. Its the scalpel Sims use with the medical career reward. I know this because the code for writing in the diary was calling the code that refers to the scalpel.

LOL!

Thanks for this fix, by the way. The scalpel thing was ridiculous.

That's usually because there are other Sims in the room that they do not want to be able to read the diary.
I had one Sim who did it when her own toddler daughter was in the same room.

I've never noticed it before, but from the picture included it reminds me of a disassembled mechanical pencil with the lead sticking out. Because the metal thing sticking out is so paper thin, I would've never come to the conclusion that it was some sort of knife, but maybe that's just the angle the picture was taken, as I've never actually noticed this in game... Funny, I thought I was one to notice details, I guess not lol!

You're right, it's the angle I took the picture at. If I had a shot from the front then you would be able to see the "pencil lead" is actually a silver blade.

There actually is a fix for that: Re-Enabled Diary Textures by Midge the Tree.

How funny. I bet whoever coded that animation saw the scalpel first and just went, "Eh! Close enough."
