Yay! I really hope you do, because these are so wonderful.

See my blog for my very latest lots, including some that are not available on MTS2: Twoflower's Sims 2 Lots. Also, see what's happening in Apple Grove, my Prosperity Challenge neighborhood.

Thank you kosp and twoflower! Yes I am in the middle of doing the rest. Some of them are more difficult than I expected because they contain bump maps. Along the way I have learned how to make the columns visible from the neighbourhood view.

I just realized yesterday that the columns here are not visible from the neighbourhood view, which is important for an architectural component. I will have these updated before the end of the weekend.

Yeah! Now I can actually put the carports back into my downtown lots! The columns on top of the bushes drove me insane!! Thanks!

You are welcome Pandora. I'm not quite sure how columns on bushes would work, but it sounds creative!

These columns have now been updated to be visible in the neighbourhood view.

You are welcome aelflaed.

I am just curious if anyone other than those with only the base game were having the invisibility problem from the neighbourhood view. I haven't had the time to investigate this further with Numenor's Any Game Starter, but I guess I will need to do so. EA/Maxis obviously changed the neighbourhood view algorithm at some point in the expansion series, but I don't know at what point.

UPDATE: the invisibility issue affected only those playing with the base game only. If any of the expansion packs had been installed then the columns were always visible. So this update is primarily of interest to those with just the base game, or those designing base game compatible lots.

While you are working on columns, maybe I can pass one of my To-Do List items off on you? ;-) What do you think about making these columns off-center on their footprint? I RARELY use these columns in the center of a tile and I'm so sick of typing boolprop snapobjectstogrid false every time I want to put a column on a fence post. Think you could move the meshes of these columns to a corner for me, I don't think I ever use the other columns in this manner so I won't ask for those.

Hi Phae - Yes that sounds easy enough, and you made it much more attractive to me when you said that you didn't need it for all the other columns! (Some of those other columns are driving me nuts, and no two are ever the same height!) I seem to remember doing what you are suggesting with snapobjectstogrid myself upon occasion. So if I understand correctly the column will exactly line up with and overlay the fence post (move_object on) so it looks like they are one and the same?

YES! Exactly. I want doing this -> https://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/...682900_576b.jpg to be made easier. I had to do it SO many freaking times for all my Katrina cottages. Ugh. Actually, all the houses I build with porches end up 'requiring' this treatment. I'd like them in the 5% taller style please (how dumb is maxis sometimes?), I don't think I've every needed your other version before, so bother with those only if you feel like it.

Thanks for the picture, that's what I thought you meant - great idea! I will also do the larger size for completeness and because occasionally folks might want the fence at ground level too.

Sweet action! Do I watch this thread or will you make it a separate upload? (I vote for a new upload, that way more people will see the awesomeness, but I know that is WAY more work, either way, you can count on a lot of free advertising from me in my future uploads!) THANKS!

Updated: 1/4 Filesize
August 1, 2011 Update: Both objects are now reduced in filesize from about 48k to 12k. Column placement is also more flexible, allowing them to be positioned on beach lots, in the water, etc.

Thank you so much for this! I hate using the colums just because they are to shot. This makes me so happy. ^_^
