This is an update for the alienware computer that maxis made. It has a new guide, so it shouldn't override the original. The animations are a little off(OK, allot off, well, actually, only the putting the disk in is glitchy). You should have the options fore whatever EPs you have and when it's appropriate. Note that Freetime is required! Feel free to do whatever you like with it.

Additional Credits:
Maxis for making the alienware PC and the game.
Jordi of here for updating the PC to Pets.
Irishman3332000 of the BBS for upddating the PC to freetime, and for letting me base this update on his/hers.

Not actually evil.

Since this is a fix for Maxis bugs, I would prefer that it override the original so I don't have to go sell old computers and buy this one, or clutter up my catalog with two versions (Maxis broken and this fixed one).

I agree, plus the recolors that are available for the broken Maxis ones would still be useful as well.

There is no reason to give a new GUID to updated version. It's such a pain in the posterior to delete old version that reverted back to Maxis object and to put the new version all over again. In case of Alienware, existing Alienwares on the lot may just vanish into thin air, if you delete original version and put the new version with different GUID.

And there is a simpler, and more proper way to update computers. As of FT, pie menus of computers are handled in semi-global level. In most cases, just changing the Object Data is enough in FT. No need to extract and replace pie menu.

Edit: Here's a more detailed tutorial for updating custom computers to FreeTime.

I only put a new guid so would not have to go out and remove the original for this to work.

You wouldn't have to remove anything - just use the same GUID and yours will overwrite the original, as long as it's the download folder.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

Does this items use the recolors of the original? Or does it have its own textures that are simply copies of the original?

Does this include the computer itself in the download, or is it just a modification to the computer--would I have to track down the actual computer? (If EA didn't keep destroying their websites for older Sims games, I could just go to The Sims 2 website and grab the Alienware computer, no problem... but now... *sigh*)
