Very creative, and I really like the backstory about the architecture students. If I run into any issues with the roof, I'll report them here...

Default How to create a "foundation roof"

The game won't allow you to place a brick foundation on top of any other wall (including foundation walls).

So, I cheated by writing a program to swap out one style of wall for another; a very simple change in the lot package. My original plan was to swap out the normal walls on the roof levels and replace them with attic walls. To me, that makes a lot of sense and doesn't really feel like "cheating". After all, these really should be attic walls.

However, the game doesn't like attic walls without a "real" roof, so the lot would crash immediately. EA must not consider modern roofs to be "real". I looked over the walls which were available in the base game without any mods or CC and decided that the brick foundation was my best bet. To my surprise, the game doesn't mind having stacked brick foundations on top of a house.

I tested it quite a bit with all of the EPs, but wanted to make sure that other people were able to use this lot without any problems.

Soon, you too may be able to use this "cheat"... I've had some requests for this program, but I'll need to clean up the source code and user interface first.

How did you manage to get the wall height lower than 4 on the roof? I thought walls where limited to quarter height (the default height of a foundation on level land) minimum?

Another program which I wrote. Allows any number of clicks, including zero. I've also had requests for this program, but again it will take a while to bring it up to the standards that I require to release something.

Have you seen this tutorial for creating heights < 4 clicks?

The limit of 4 clicks may be required to provide stairs... since this is the roof, I don't need to worry about such things.

The minimum height for functional connecting/modular stairs is 2. 1 click for that stair type can form though it becomes dysfunctional and incomplete instances.

PS:
Just updated info, users needn't wall.txt modding to play and see the unleashed foundation walls in imported lots made with such modding.

BTW, I love the roof design.

A program which will allow you to make walls which are less than 4 clicks high (including zero-height walls and negative-height walls) is now available:

Thanks for these awesome houses! They're a perfect replacement for those boxy modern houses in Pleasantview (like what Dina/Nina and Don started in)
