Delphy's Pattern Packager v1.4 (Updated 15th August 2009)

Introduction

The Pattern Packager program allows you to add new Patterns (aka items that appear in Create a Style) to your Sims 3 game. Each Pattern can have up to 4 recolourable "palettes", which are defined on the Red, Green, Blue and Alpha channels of the source image.

How to use

Please read the tutorial located here: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?...Custom_Patterns

Please note! It is NOT possible to just download any old seamless pattern from the net and shove it in game. It WILL look bad and not work properly! You have been warned, and if I get any questions saying "I downloaded a pattern online and tried it and...." then I will find you and eat your pasta.

Installation

This program requires no installation - just unzip and run!

Requirements: .NET Framework 2.0

Please note: This program DID used to require .NET 3.5, however, with a large amount of coding I've been able to move back to .NET 2.0. This *should* allow it to run on Mono with one caveat: The squishinterface that I use is compiled for Windows only. I make absolutely no guarantees that this program will work as-is, but would be willing to work with somebody who programs or uses a Mac to get it to work.

Where do I put the saved packages?

Read this thread. Then put the packages in your Mods\Packages folder under the Sims 3 root.

Dearest most smartest Delphy... Have you given any consideration to adding the ability to modify existing pattern packages?
As posted here:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=402700
I'm having trouble figuring out a way to re-categorize some custom patterns I've downloaded... And if there was just a 'File-Open' an existing pattern package on this *most wonderful* tool you've created, I could change those darned old printy patterns from 'paint' to 'fabric' in a snap!
~goes off hoping that flattery works on the most exalted Delphy~

Edit to Add: Hugelunatic has done a tutorial on how to change the pattern category using Postal... It's here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=363669

But (I think) having the pattern packager do it was a nifty idea anyway!! Thank you Delphy for all you share with us! I appreciate you!!

I don't get it.
I'd like to create a pattern that looks like the autumn grass terrain cover. I exported the dds image of the grass from the game, what am I supposed to do with it next? This program keeps turning it grey.

Its grey becuase you have to set the default colour of the pattern - just click on the grey colour box and choose another colour.

Story books are full of fairy tales, of Kings and Queens, and the bluest skies.

TOTALLY have to necrovive this thread, A) to say thank you with more than a press of a button because I can't even begin to express how much you need to be thanked and B) because when I read that you'd eat people's pasta? I was eating pasta lol. I won't ask the eat my pasta question though.

Again thank you for your dedication in making it possible, the creators and modders and all the people making this possible are stellar in my eyes.

First I thought to an error while creating and I tried to re-make them, but I have got the same error.

I am having the exact same issue with sims3pack files.

You can find some of my creations here and the rest over at the following Dragon Black Sims

Thank you so much Delphy! The program is running fine. All I have to do is put the packages into my sims 3 mods folder. This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your hard work with everyone.

I skim-read a few pages er and then gave up because it's one of those days (my house is full of builders tearing the place apart so it's wall to wall migraines for me).

I use the TSR Workshop to make patterns. I hate this for 2 reasons. The second reason is that it's not possible to edit the bump or specular maps when creating a new pattern. I was busy grring over this the other day and then realized in a moment of 'doh' that there is of course another option.

Having wandered over to have a look I don't see a mention of this feature - probably my bad - skim reading and all. Does it support the additional maps or is it something that might be added if not? I would dearly love to abandon the Workshop, talk about feeding the hand that bites me (ok that doesn't quite work but you get the point I'm sure). This seems like a good place to start!

Hey, Delphy

I notice after a windows 7 update or the latest game update (Not sure because they where around the same time.) that I can't get it to work right, has anybody else had this problem?

When I try to run the program, I get a message that says, "Pattern Creator has stopped working". Do you know what I should do to fix this?

I'm having the same trouble, I'm afraid. Though I've only just started using it.

This makes me wish for the simplicity of Sims 1 when making wallpaper or flooring, very simple. I downloaded this program but it's WAY over my head so I'll leave this to those who know what they are doing, which I don't when it comes to this.

Unfortunately, it keeps telling me that when I "save as", that it's trying to save to an empty path and stops working. :/ win7 64bit
