No bumpmap! I never use bumpmap, I find you get much more realistic textures by shading, and you've done it wonderfully on this outfit

love the download and the jap pic with the dudes in the back.XD I had some questions if you don't mind. where'd you get the hair for the guy in the far right and how did you get them to sit like that?

I love the kimono! Thank you SO much! Also, could you please please reveal where on Earth you found that topknot on the male in the last photo?! I've been looking for something like that FOREVER.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Taure, I will certainly believe you. I’ve been watching your work for a while and would deffinitely say you've got the shading technique mastered. I confess I have a bit of a bumpmap addiction and I use them too heavily.

Blackred, in answer to your questions, I don’t mind at all. I love the simming community and all the sharing that is involved in it. The hair for the fellow on the far right is from a mesh by Denise_316. It was created for the character Li Shang from Mulan. I edited the texture a bit (I shaved the poor guy’s head) to give it a more samurai look.

As for the lady’s hair, I honestly can’t tell you exactly where I got it from, because I don’t remember. =s I just know that when I unpacked it, the files said it was by Cglvl, which is the creator at XM Sims. But like you, I can’t find the link. I’ll keep looking though, and tell you when I find it again.

I got the sims to sit like that by using pose boxes. I layered a number of poses, so I can’t tell you exactly which ones I used, but two of the (free) boxes I used for sure were Rose’s Posebox 1.1 (find it under Sims --> Other --> the second box on the page) and the Custom Modeling Poses Overlay Hack.

You can see a bunch of the poses in a catalogue at Fate’s Ribbon, and there’s a thorough list of downloadable boxes at The Garden of Shadows (but you’ll probably have to make an account there--which is free). If you’ve never used a posebox, just unpack it like any other item, put the box on your lot and click on it like any other object (I think they’re catalogued under games and misc). You’ll figure out the rest from there no problem.

Frau Eva, Hey there and thanks! In case you didn’t catch it in my spam above, the topknot is a recolor of Denise_316’s hair for her Li Shang sim. I’ve been looking for quality samurai hairs for a long time too, and have been having some trouble finding just what I want. I’ve recolored quite a few hairs now, however, in my pitiful attempts to achieve a proper Samurai queue, so maybe I can post those for other chanbarra aficionados. But it will be some time before I can. Meanwhile, keep me posted if you find anything better? I keep hoping.

I downloaded this outfit a long time ago, and it looks great in-game. I'm working on culling my skins right now, getting rid of the ones I don't use much, and there was no question about this one. It's definitely a keeper. =)
