Fences - No Posts

It seems like every time I build a house I find something in the game that makes me go wtf EA? This time it's the fence from Outdoor Living Stuff. Sure fences from other EPs have also made me wonder about EA, but the patio fence from OLS really takes the cake. ...the caek is a lie!...

This mod will take two base game fences, a WA fence, and the OLS fence and make it so that there is not a post at every tile. Not all meshes will support not having a post at every tile and I've only modified ones that do or that still look appropriate without it.



Compatibility
This alters the CFEN resource and will conflict with any other mod that does so. This is a default override of the fences and the only resource in the package is the CFEN.

Included Fences:
  • Balustrade (FencePedimentBalustradeSuiteComp) - Base
  • Mission (FenceMissionInteriorSuiteComp) - Base
  • Renoit (fenceExteriorFranceSuite) - WA
  • Patio (FencePatioSuiteComp) - OLS
There is one zip file that has all the fixes, just delete any from EPs you don't have. Files can be combined with no issues.

Any fence placed with this mod in will stay the same if the mod is removed and the lot re-entered, so it might stay that way if packaged. It does stay with no posts on every tile if the lot is binned and placed elsewhere in the town.

You must have the expansion, game version or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

I know no one has commented here in a while but I just wanted to tell everyone a tip about the posts. The posts are created when you stop CTRL dragging the fence. To make a fence with no posts, just make sure you drag the Fence creator all the way across to your destination. This will make no posts. It used to drive me crazy too, until I finally figured it out one day. lol Hope this helps someone. Also, I'd still like to say thanks to the creator for your time in creating this mod. Good mod.

I have a question HL, if I was to clone any of the fences you fixed, edit it, add both the new fence and this mod to the game. Would the new cloned fence also get the no post fix or would I have to edit the clone so it doesn't have the extra post every square?

You should definitely reload this for Generations. I think there are a few new fences that REALLY needs this mod.

You are my hero for fixing this! I'm mainly one who builds and I was always soooo irritated by how the fences looked with all the posts considering that the general design of the fences really aren't that bad but the poles killed the look! Again thank you for all your hard work!!

I like the idea of this BUT....the last fence in your front page description was wrongly "channeled" by EA and I've found someone who had fixed it so I'm guessing it would conflict. Should you decide to fix it, too, in order to be able to also use this mod, please take a good look at the picture. You'll see that EA has 1 channel for the wrought-iron, 1 channel for the fence top, 1 channel for the basic fence and 2 sides of the post (Brick), and 1 channel for 2 sides of the 4 sided post! The person who fixed it made it so that it correctly recolors as 1: wrought Iron, 2: fence top, 3: main fence, 4: all 4 sides of the post. The way EA did it makes the posts different colors when you make a direction change (i.e., 90 degrees for the front and sides of a yard).
