I removed the mod from my folder, and now only one fog emitter shows up. So... Something went wrong.

I'm having the same issue as above; two fog emitters (with 1.42 patch), only I can select the first fog emitter, not the second, and I can't shift it or pick it up again once it's been placed.

Ok, those of you having problems, a few questions:

1) Have you tried removing the mod? Does the problem persist? I can't see a logical reason why this override would cause this problem; however, there are two fog emitters included by EA, one of which is basegame and doesn't work properly. If that had been unlocked somehow (it's hidden by default), that would explain things. I know you've already done this, murfee.

2) I've attached an updated version, but I can't see why it would actually fix the problem, so I'm apprehensive. Please test it and see. :P

Whiterider,

Removing the mod causes the Ambitions FE placeholder to disappear, leaving only the basegame FE available and functional.

Unfortunately, with or without the mod, pre-1.42 lots with fog emitters no longer have functioning FEs. You can test this by placing a pre-1.42 lot with FEs from the bin in your world (for instance, my Executive Retreat lot, which is CC free: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail...ssetId=5946154). One interesting caveat is that if you load a save where you were playing in a pre-1.42 lot with fog emitters, they will still show up and function, but you cannot pick them up.

It appears that EA outright deleted the Ambitions fog emitter; it will cause a huge amount of rework for builders if it's not restored. I have a thread on the forums for this issue, as I am trying to gather more feedback from builders to pass on to the SimGurus: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/608928.page.

Is your revised version intended to work with the basegame FE? If so, I will give it a try.

Ah! I understand. This is a default replacement of the Ambitions FE; if EA have nuked it, that would explain why it no longer works. If EA have also completed and unlocked the basegame FE, that would explain why it's suddenly showing up when it didn't in the past.

I will have to think about the best solution to this. I can easily enough restore the Amb FE, but it would need updating every time EA add a new effect. I could perhaps also make a mod to replace the old Amb FE with the BG FE, and a separate one to make the BG FE shiftable. I'd be interested to hear what builders would find most useful.

I personally wouldn't mind a constantly updated FE, but I know you as a modder would be constantly required to keep it updated, which would be more of an inconvenience from your end.

The simgurus said they know what borked the FE and are looking into it, so hopefully they can restore the old FE quickly--WHY 'fix' what wasn't broken, EA? --and I can just endure for now. Cuz the basegame FE right now works. It's just not shiftable/deleteable--grr.

In the end--whatever is most convenient for you would be fine with me, as long as the shiftness is restored--this is one of my alltime favorite mods. :lovestruc

I came here because I was not able to use mine either.

So, if we remove the mod, are we without the ability to use a fog emitter for effects now?

I can't get the shiftable out of my game.
I must have merged it, but it's not showing in any of my merged items.
I re-downloaded it to grab its instance number, but I'm still not finding it.

I really need a working fog emitter for machinima.... DAMN EA.

Unless EA decides against fixing/restoring the Ambitions FE, I think you should just move foward with making the basegame FE shiftable. Even if they don't, it sounds like a lot of work to deal with both of them. Also, one of the things I've loved about your mod is that the person who downloads a lot with the shifted FEs doesn't need the mod for the FEs to remain where they were placed. If the Ambitions FE became a custom object, people would then need to download it; as a producer of CC free lots, I wouldn't be able to use it at that point.

thank you whiterider the mod 1.42 patch works well, the not being able to delete seems to be a thing even with the vanilla fog emitter now, using the testing cheats ctrl shift delete object solves this and the move objects cheat allows you to move the fog emitter even after placement.

I can confirm this as well. You can move the basegame version with moveobjects on, but it's not shiftable or deletable. The Ambitions one is unselectable.

I took the mod into the game after trying without. So I have tested both. Downloaded a new copy and installed a few minutes ago.

When I used this my game crash every time. I hope you can make it better. This was my favoritt mod EVER.
