Party Time!
Happy July 19th Everyone! Today marks the 5th year I've been creating for TS2 and just last week, I passed the 2 Million downloads mark! This is also my 150th upload! YAY! As is my custom, to celebrate I release something really awesome to you all. This project has been a long way coming, and if there are still people left in the TS2 World, it has a chance at changing everything. (I promise I'm not being overly dramatic, I'll explain in a little bit.)

Great News!
As the Reigning Queen of Bodyshop Modding, I've discovered a way to quadruple the number of default skins we can have in the game. I've figured out a way of tying the skins to the hair colors. What this means, is that you now can have 16 default skins, and they can include things like body hair, and it will actually be genetically correct. It also means that we can now draw hair on infants and it will be the correct color 100% of the time. The third repercussion this has is that we can actually have ethnic/racial diversity in our towns. You can have S1Black be an Asian skintone, while S1Red is a ginger with freckles all over. This is a seriously awesome thing, no more having to create half decent looking townies with hundreds of custom skins. You can have diversity automatically. Because they are defaults, you don't need to respawn any townies, the second you place my packages into your game, they will pick up the new skins.

How it Works
The secret to the magic is a line in the Property Set on the skin tone that says 'hair color' and if you set it to the hair color, that skin will only show up for that hair color. Then I've also familified the skins, so they link together. There's a bit more to the magic, but that's pretty much the important stuff. And the rest is proprietary

Each skin/haircolor is in its own package, so its easy to remove only a single skin when you find one you like better. You can have your S1Black from HP, your S1Brown from fansee, your S1Blonde from leesester, your S1Red from daluved, your S2Black from me, your S2Brown from QBuilderz, your S2Blonde from whiterider,.... and they didn't have to make all 16 skins. They may only have made the one skintone in that one hair color. As long as everyone uses my templates to make their correlated skins instead of trying to reverse engineer everything I did and do it all over again the hard way, all the skins that get created will work together. So, save yourself the trouble, and use my template, that's what it's there for!

I've broken this download into a multi-post download so I can better explain each aspect of this. For the rest of this main post, I'll be talking about body hair, Ethnic Diversity, and how to get started with this in your own game. For infant hair, go to comment #2, for Supernaturals press #3, and for the templates you'd need to create these yourself press #4, and for all other inquiries or to speak to a representative, please stay on the line and we will be with you shortly.

Body Hair
Ok, here's where you get a bit of TMI; I love guys with some hair on their chest. These sims being all furless just weirds me out. I found some nice defaults with some hair on the legs and arms for the guys, but its brown no matter what color hair they have on their head. Stupid. One of the only things I look for and download from SexySims is 'downstairs hair' for my ladies. It's also always brown. I had to settle for it, until I noticed the one little line in the skintone resource that made me think this was all possible. After much struggles and toils and mess-ups and re-dos and 2 years sitting on the back burner while I finish my degree at school, (I'm really sorry this is so late, I couldn't help it. It's a very large and confusing project) I have the ability to match the skintone to the hair, and in doing so I've quadrupled the number of default skins we can have in our game. You have S1- S4 for Black, Brown, Blond, and Red. (16 for anyone math challenged)

I've taken the TS2 standard of AllenABQ hairs and added them to the Maxis skintones. You can download them here. I have had to remove (ahem, shave) the pubic hair off the guys to be compliant with PayPal Terms and Services (MTS can't host adult stuff here or they won't let us use their service). So, if you want the natural version, head over to SexySims to download them. Seems backwards to me too, but what can you do? Since it seemed a waste to bother with the females when I couldn't add pubic hair, the version here is for Teen, Adults, and Elder Guys only. Children, toddlers, and babies do not have hair added in this version. They are meant to blend in with the Maxis defaults.

Referencing Set
Because body hair isn't everyone's thing, and creating your own is hard for a lot of people (I promise, it's not hard, its just tedious), I've created a 'blank' set that will allow you to start slowly collecting your own set. They are 16 skins that will reference whatever you have as your default skins. If you don't have defaults and still use Maxis skins then it will use those skins. If you have one of HP's pretty skin sets or anyone else's it will pull that. Why is this useful you ask? Well, as soon as someone makes a correlated skin that you like, you can remove the coordinating referencing skin and you can use it, even if the creator has only made one skintone/haircolor you like. You need to keep a full set of 16 correlated skins in your game, but it doesn't matter who's 16 they are. Start with mine, and replace them as you find ones you like better. This way you don't have to give up your pretty default skins all at once, you can do it slowly as prettier correlated skins appear.

Diversity through Ethnicity
This is the part that excites me the most. With 16 different skintones based on hair color, I can create ethnic diversity within my game! This is how I see it for my game. Now, this is just what I have in my game, you can create your own matrix. Download the Referencing version to start from and as you get more of them filled in, delete the corresponding Reference one. *YOU NEED TO KEEP A FULL SET* But, it doesn't matter who made each piece of it. Mix and match!

I'll also be adding links here of other creators who've gone and created skins for this set so you can really pick out and customize your favorite set. If you make a skintone from my template and upload it, please send me a link so I can add it here!

Wait, What do I Download?
Well, answer me these 3 questions:
Do you like what you see and just want it in your game? A: Download the 4 BodyHair skins and the infant skins.
Do you like the idea, but hate the maxis skins? A: Look for other creators' Correlated Skins in my link tables, more will be added as creators make them.
Do you like the idea and want to turn every skin you own into one of these? A: Download my Templates and go do my tutorial.

Enjoy!

Nidella, there are some options:
If you can use SimPE, you need to put the correct image into the file. If you find the skinset that was used, you can extract the image yourself, following the creation process Phaenoh outlines.

Or you could put in any face image you like, instead, which probably won't match properly but would give the teen a face.

Or, if using SimPE is no good, you could remove that particular file altogether, and put in one from a different set that has all the images.

Hope one of those options works for you.

Does this prevent brown sims from being blonde or ginger? I like the wider variety of skin tone because the four are so basic and there's four, but it looks like you're restricting hair colour.

It honestly makes no sense to link skin colour to hair colour.

Just a quick question will the skintone/haircolor link be genetics only or a permanent correlation? IE: If I make a sim in CAS with blonde hair at the darkest skintone (which I was thinking of making as a mild tan tone) then later in my gameplay have her "Dye" her hair to Black (the darkest tone being akin to Maxis default Dark one) will she go from the mild tan skintone to the Maxis dark skintone as well?

I'll keep looking, you keep testing out different things, try turning your graphics up and down, remove more downloads (sometimes unrelated things have bad code accidentally included) etc.

@Phaenoh

The problem with teen faces was mentioned again in a help topic here. Looks like it's because the teen skins include a missing reference to teen face skins that don't exist, because maxis teen skins use the adult face textures and there are no TXTRs for TF. Maxis teen females have teen TXMTs but use adult TXTRs (I recently pulled some creature skins and it seems to be true for alien skins as well). Pretty sure male teenagers have separate faces from adults so those should be fine, it's just a problem with teen female.

Fix below that (hopefully) should fix sims' faces once the skins are fixed - if they're not fixed, try taking the sim to a mirror, and/or delete cache files:

Should also work for recolors, but if you want to make new skin recolors I suggest to work on fixed and playtested versions so you're sure they're working.

If you are familiar with SimPE you can repair it but it's a lot of job.

- in SimPE open every package-file in "MTS_Phaenoh_1308651_Phaenoh_EugenicSkin-TextRef"
- find the Material Definition (TXMT) file for tfface for example ##0x5ffae584!tfface~face_txmt
- in Properies tab find stdMatBaseTextureName
- change tfface-s? to afface-s? (? = 1,2,3 or 4)
- commit and save

I know Sims 2 is not relevant anymore, but I have a simple question, maybe someone will answer.
Although I really enjoy the idea of 16 different skintones and removing the unrealistic light-hair dark-skin combo, there is one thing bothering me:
An S1 Black-haired (pale skintone) Sim and an S4 Red-haired (medium skintone) Sim have a big probability of producing an S4 Black-haired offspring, who has dark skintone... Daddy's gonna think someone else is involved in the picture, and we don't want that.
Any suggestion, besides reloading and hoping for a different skintone outcome, or manually altering the baby's skintone?
Thank you! =)

I still play TS2, and I still use these defaults. The only thing that would change your outcome is the recessive genetics of your parents. Perhaps the S4 has parents with lighter skin that will help? Reroll if the baby is too weird, or edit genetics in SimPE.

Yes. Much pulling apart was required to make these and they all share resources, so the individual ones scan up as incomplete. Nothing to worry about!

Default Found 2 oversights in properties
Hey, thanks for this set, I've been using it for years and really like it. I've customized all skin textures a bit further to my liking and noticed something weird on a few of my athletic sims: When their bodytype was "cut" their chestskin would not match their bottom skin. There was a clearly visible hard transition from one skintexture to another (let's say: shaved to hairy ) around the waist.
Obviously their bottom was not switching correctly to the new texture.

So, I did some testing and inspecting with SimPE and found two mistakes
  • S2 Brown - CASIE_ambottomnaked_nudesoft_s2: the value for fitness says "1", should be "2"
  • S4 Black - CASIE_ambottomnaked_nudecut_s4: the value for skintone differs by one zero (000000004-0000-0000-0000-000000000000). Delete one of the zeros and it works

Hey
I checked my files and found&edited the first typo, couldnt find the second - there 7 zeros and 1 four for me there

I also had to edit the TextRef files according to clsve's guide for the skins to not glitch after my repair of the UC (all I did was reset my C drive and repair the game to play it again, the skins suddenly became glitchy after that ) so I was wondering if you Phaenoh would be okay if I posted my edited TextRefs here in the comments? So other people with the same issue can just hit download or if you'd rather update your official version in the downloads section.

I'm currently not really supporting my downloads, so go ahead and post up your edits. I might get back to updating them myself in the future, so if/when that happens we'll take yours down, but for now go ahead and post them. I rather people have working versions rather than 'official' ones at the moment.

@Phaenoh I like these skins, but I hate body hair, (one more reason why I love sims), I understand that if you would not do these skins without hair? or some similar? Thanks, even so I think I'll try them to see how I see them in my game (I'm sure I don't like them... :/)

I'm not sure what you are asking for. The versions without body hair are just the standard Maxis ones. If you are looking for the infant hair, that is already uploaded separately. If you want more diversity in your skins, I've linked to a number of creators who have uploaded skins within this system.
