Sadly I have been unable to place this ladder up against the wall of a building as shown. I have no idea why. It makes me place it 1.5 tiles back from the platform (a roof), or it makes me hammer tiles out so it can come up one-half tile INSIDE the roofing tile I'm aiming at - eg it wants to go through the tile instead of up to the edge. I went back to using the stackable industrial ladder at http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=461495

I have to use the round version that comes up through the floor because I use those so many other places and the creator never got around to changing the OBJID so you could have both versions in the game (and I'm too lazy to do it myself) - but you can hammer the tile it adds around the top away and it only looks a little funny. It will let you place it up against the wall where this one won't.

I am wondering if this problem with placement has anything to do with the game default ladders because they seem to need to be placed that way too (which is why I stick with the stackable industrial ladders). Since those came out after this mod was written, maybe they made scripting changes that broke placement?

If I don't answer a direct question on the technical forums, I didn't see it. Feel free to PM me.
