Thanks for making CASTable shells real, it really changes the world of world-making

Hey Miss D,

I know what you mean as far as changing the look of things, no more same-ole

I'm not overly familiar with exporting, so I'm not sure if they will pack or not. I thought I saw an article ages ago (probably on the sims wiki or something) that explained more thoroughly what actually gets included when you pack a world, but it's been so long I can't remember. You might try doing a search for packing or exporting Sims 3 worlds with custom content or something similar.

I do know that the resources would have to be present on your boyfriend's end of things, so if just sending him the world doesn't work, he would definitely need to download and put them in his game as well -- which is probably what will end up needing to be done if Murphy has anything to say about it, lol.

Do let me know which way works for you (if you have time) so other readers will be aware of what they need to do in situations like this.

Take care!

Thank you very much, I just found the Showtime/Late Night fix after already reinstalling the whole LN-expansion pack. I'm going to try the recolourable shells now for my new CAW-town.

LOVE these building shells, BUT for some reason in my game the elevators aren't working. I just made this lovely brick penthouse using your building shell. But the elevators aren't working since I don't get the interaction to go to the top floor. Should I delete my script cache and try again? Kinda bummed out as the only way I can get my sim to and from her penthouse is by teleporting :/

Hi,
Deleting the caches is usually required when using mods that add new or change existing script behaviours. Outside of that, I haven't had anyone report issues with the elevators. They seem to be ok on this end. I have read other users reporting that they can be temperamental in general, but I'm not overly familiar with how they work. I'll make a note to review things again when things at home settle down a bit.

You might also try removing other mods and replacing them a few at a time to see if there may be some other conflict (deleting caches each time).

Sorry for the late reply, been busy. I had to take out the script cache a few times and refresh the thumbnails and I went to nraas mastercontroller and reset the lot but they are working now. Only thing now is that some of the cc elevators in my existing buildings in my town sometimes don't want to work, but they work if I reset the lot and save. Sims 3 is such a pain sometimes lol

Thank you!

I love these! I do have 2 questions. 1 - did you separate some of the multi-rabbit hole buildings to be single function, like you did for city halls vs government centers? I would love to use the hoi pelloi shell as just a big concert venue and not as the theater, and the plastic binder center as just a sports arena and not a big concert venue. 2 - if I just use these shells as is for the above purpose and don’t recolor anything, do the complex instructions apply? Or can I just plop them down like your other shells? Thanks again for the amazing work!

Hi!
Honestly, it has been so long, I don't exactly remember how I did these. They were indeed challenging. It seems I did have to make individual objects out of all the different mesh parts so that they would be recolourable. I remember the shells being especially finicky and not wanting to cooperate if things weren't just so. I think there was some scripting involved as well. As far as what you want to do, I'm just not sure. You can always experiment and see what happens. Just be sure to have backups handy in case of weird issues. Hopefully, I'll have more time to get back to this eventually.
Thanks!
Amanda
