The Americana is probably my favourite lot in all of TS3. When I recently re-installed TS2, I decided to set about building it for my Sim. Unlike the oodles of CC I have installed for TS3, I don't have any installed for this game, so my aim is to keep all my TS2 content CC free.
As always, some objects do actually move from game to game. Where I couldn't find the same objects/decor pieces, I looked for the closest alternative that a CC free game would allow.
Diagonal Objects/Known Issues
For a full list of what does and doesn't work when placed diagonally, you might want to check out this thread by Shiny Guns.
Turns out that the single bed on the right of bedroom #2 was getting blocked by the end table, while the left was still perfectly accessible. I've since repositioned the end tables and tested a copied lot in-game, so anyone downloading as of this note will have clear access to the bed on the right.
For those who have already installed the lot, you'll just need to repsition the end tables as such:
To make the adjustment you just need to hit CTRL+SHIFT+C and enter these commands:
boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation on
boolprop snapobjectstogrid false
The burglar alarm at the front of the house may not work as it's not snapped to the diagonal wall. This was place as such for TS3 decor accuracy, though the kitchen alarm is snapped so your Sims will still be able to catch out those burglars. There's always the option to move the front alarm - I just can't bring myself to do so. Scrambles my brain!
While the side shot of the house shows a little Sim mooching about, she was loaded into the lot after it was packaged in order to get screenshots sans grid lines.
IMPORTANT CREATOR NOTE
Please do not re-upload or claim as your own. Theft is not cool. All I ask is that you credit me properly when using my creations as part of your lot or Sim by linking back to the relevant MTS page or my B2 Sims site (link in profile). Many thanks!
Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
It is just like the one in Sims 3! Thanks. Only thing, can sims lay down in a bed at an angle?
Yes, they can use diagonal beds just fine, but be careful (or at least remember this tip!) with sim kids, because if a parent tries to read them to sleep, the game can't find the spot for them to sit and they will just keep resetting instead. I spent hours trying to find a faulty piece of cc before I finally realized what the hell was going on and why it only happened to adults who had been in the game for a while.
It doesn't hurt the game or anything but makes the parent's autonomy completely useless and is extremely annoying, especially if you don't know what's causing it!

I found this thread by Shiny Guns from 2009 (now a decade ago - wow!) which lists all the working/non-working items when placed diagonally. Only the Murphy bed doesn't work, all other beds should be fine - bearing in mind the issue mentioned by blockparty.
I just moved a Sim in to a copy of the lot to double check the diagonal beds. It would seem the end talbe on the right bed is blocking the Sim from using it though the left bed has no problem, depsite the tables being equally distant from each respective bed. Admittedly I only tested the left the first time round (I blame work and extreme exhaustion!).
It's easily fixed, the end tables just need to be moved a little closer to each other (so they're positioned about halfway into the first little pane of the window). I'm in the process of repackaging and re-uploading the lot with the repositioned tables. Think it may be best to add a note about diagonals in my description as well.
