This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
Hello Everyone!

Stained Glass Windows - Religious Theme - Base Game Compatible
By Request

This is a set of 6 stained glass windows, using 2 EA Base Game meshes. The idea was presented to me by an MTS member who shall remain anonymous, who is also a Capuchin priest. They are building their church in the game, and wanted some authentic stained glass windows. So, I thought I'd share them with everyone

Please be aware that they are not all from the same religion, and this is not meant to offend anyone in any way. These were made without bias.

The arched window's mesh has been altered slightly to remove the vertical piece of wood in the middle of the frame. This, however, has not changed the polygon counts of the original mesh:
LOD0 > 344
LOD1 > 248
LOD2 > 68

I have made 4 colours of frames, each in the original wood frames and also a stone version, for each window for a total of 48 windows. The frames are identical for each arched window and each round window, so mixing and matching is easy! I also reduced the opacity to 98% so that they are only slightly transparent, as befits stained glass.

They are found in Build Mode/Windows as follows:

Sienne Duomo Cathedrale Round Window §265
St. Sulpice Round Window §265
Jesus On The Cross §290
Mes Enfants §290
St. Catherine §290
Hagia Sophia §290

These stained glass windows are found in real life all over the world. For this set, these are the locations and the resource links:

Jesus On The Cross on WikiCommons Paris, France
Mes Enfants - original source unknown Location Unknown
St. Catherine Medallion on WikiCommons Paris, France
Hagia Sophia on WikiCommons Istanbul, Turkey

Please note: I discovered while taking the screenshots that when you make windows smaller using the '[' button, it leaves a hole in the wall the size of the original window. This is an EA thing, and not caused by me. You can make the arched windows larger using the ']' button with no trouble, but not the round windows. For some reason, they end up with a cutout in the wall no matter what you do!

Please also note: The glass in the back of the round windows is rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise, for some reason. This, I was not able to correct, I'm so sorry! If you are looking to take pictures using these windows indoors, I suggest swapping them so the front of the window, normally on the exterior, is facing in.

These are GORGEOUS! Its funny how you don't know something is missing from the game, until you see it, and say, "Ohh hey.. yeah we don't have that!" How have I completed to many weddings in so many churches without stained glass windows! :o

Thanks, Wendy!

Yes, there is some light still coming through. There are some images taken from inside the building, and they have no interior light source, so you can see exactly how much light comes through on a sunny day

I'm glad you like them! Unfortunately, I don't create for Sims 3 anymore. Sorry! I may in the future again at some point, so who knows?
