You could, if you wanted, change the PrototypeID to match that of the GF original and it will show up as a second preset on the original instead of creating an extra space in the catalogue.

Thanks for the tip. For one, I have basic skills in CC. Making a mirror image object is my limit, I reckon.

Mind you, I comprehend what you're suggesting. However, the original object is a stand-alone object, with no recolours. Since that's the case; wouldn't adding this to the original not work?

That said, I ask more out of curiosity.

It doesn't matter if the original has recolours or not. The PrototypeID tells the game which items it should group together under one catalogue entry. In this case they would just show as two swatches for the same entry. (I tried it in my own game and there are no issues.)
In theory you could group two completely different objects together by making their PrototypeIDs match but there isn't really a practical use for that.
