Freelancer career fix (mod) - DEPRECATED

!!! THIS MOD IS NO LONGER NECESARRY AFTER THE NOV 10TH UPDATE (PC: 1.68.154.1020 / Mac: 1.68.154.1220 ). PLEASE REMOVE IT FROM YOUR GAME !!!

After the September 3, 2020 patch (1.66.139), a bug was introduced making the freelancer career unplayable: completing all steps in a gig would result in no pay and the gig not ending unless it was manually cancelled.
This mod is a temporary fix for that bug.

A remark: If you already have an active job with all the tasks completed, you'll have to either wait till the deadline or cancel the job and select another one. The mod will not automatically pay you for the completed job.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Thank you for this. I really use the free lancer careers a lot, and I wish Maxis would stop breaking them.

EA's new patches always bring in lots of new bugs. Some just make me so frustrating. I believe their QA system has lots of problems. They should do it automatically and verify each game aspect to prevent the new bugs. Anyway, thanks for the rescue.

That was a bug???? I had no idea. I thought the game was just being annoying for the sake of being annoying.

makes me laugh how it takes the modding community to fix basic bugs within a $710 priced game.

Maxis did not make Sims4 , it's 100% EA at fault

Not working for me, either. Last Exception will be thrown when the finished case is reported back. I lost everything, then.

Maxis is the team that creates and works under EA. EA is just the company that owns the game divisions. Stop with the EA blame on everything. If it were not for EA the Sims would never had seen the light of day. Maxis as a seperate company had no interest in the sims and told Will Wright that the "doll house" was a dumb idea. It was only when EA bought out Maxis that they encouraged the Sims.

EA backed the production but was more hands-off initially plus Will Wright was still onboard back then. You can't ignore that a lot of these newer decisions, most notably anything in Sims 4, are based on EA's influence given their track-record for meddling in game franchises. EA has the contract with Disney, so we know they've had a direct hand in at least one pack and they've most likely influenced decisions on many others. Maxis isn't innocent, but neither is EA. They own Maxis for a reason: so they can control their output and profit off of them. No point in buying the company otherwise. I have more sympathy for Maxis though because they house the devs.

But more importantly, just because someone did a good thing in the past doesn't mean they shouldn't be held accountable for their present actions. That's like telling someone who ran over your dog that it's all okay because they gave you the dog in the first place. EA is most likely dunking the Sims 4 budget as much as possible to keep costs low on a somewhat floundering property (which is why there are frequent discounts and why, whenever they give hard numbers, they always combine Sims 2 and/or Sims 3 in with Sims 4.) EA is most likely demanding packs as fast and furious as possible, and siphoning off the profits to fund other projects because why wouldn't they? Especially since the two different Sims mobile apps are free with micropayments, which is going to be more lucrative in the long run. They've kept items in the Sims 3 store at basically the same price because they're still profiting off of those worlds and premium items, presumably. They dropped Sims 2 from Origin because it wasn't profitable enough to keep it available on their platform. There are rumors Sims 5 will be online because that was their initial goal with Sims 4 and we know they're already making Sims 5 because of those job offers a little while ago and by simple logic; we're six years into Sims 4, a longer production range than its predecessors and games take awhile to develop so if they haven't started by now, I'd be very surprised. I doubt EA is somehow more innocent than Maxis, even when it comes to bugs because they call the shots and they most likely control the release dates, which influences when we have patch updates and these frequently include more bugs. Maxis is the cause, but EA isn't blameless.

So I started a new game with this mod before it was on MTS and I played freelancers....they were unable to pick the right umm gig agency? So one was an artist freelancer and could only pick programming agency, and my other was a programmer and she had some other random agency she could pick. Neither could actually pick the right agency I had to use cheats to give them the trait for the agency. I don't know if this is an EA bug or a bug from your mod but thought I'd let you know so you could look into it. I don't know if you'd notice if you quit an agency and come back, but I sure noticed on my new sim and new save which I started after the update. If you noticed and fixed this already all good. I just wasn't able to tell you before now .

I didn't know about this issue but knowing the code I changed for the mod I doubt it's the mod causing it. It's probably an EA bug but I'll check!

While EA has finally fixed this issue in the recent patch, and the mod is no longer required, I would still like to THANK YOU for creating it!

While this may be true for SOME people, I had no such experience. After removing the mod after the recent update, my Freelancer in the game stopped working. Gigs would no longer complete or pay out. And would not clear for the next one once the deadline expired. I replaced the mod. Freelancer worked again. I don't know why if works for some without the mod, and not for others. But, that was the way it was before the update, too.

I recently reinstalled my game to fix a couple of unrelated issues. Before I reinstalled my freelancer career wasn't broken. After reinstalling the game it broke, so now I'm downloading the mod. Funny how the game works sometimes aye
