Changelog

Inspired by Mod Organizer/Mod Organizer 2 for Bethesda games, I brought to you Mod Organizer for Sims 3. This is a tool intended to streamline modding. No more not knowing which packages are conflicting with each other, no more worrying about whether to put into packages folder or override folder, because this tool will show every single conflicts between every packages, and you decide which packages shall be the winner.

Current features:
  • Allow to organize all your packages into individual folders, this folder is termed a "mod" within context of this tool.
  • Show conflicts between all the mods, and conflicts between packages within the mod.
  • Reorder the mods easily to decide the conflict winner, the tool will merge all the packages following the priority order.
  • Fastest merging with the smallest size, since the conflicted resources are ignored and skipped.
  • The merged build size can be altered as well as its priority within Sims 3 Mods folder resource.cfg.
  • Able to open every packages to see the content inside, without the need to open s3pe.
  • Different profiles for different mod setup. (Will be able to manage profile saves eventually)
  • Built in cache cleaner, the cache being cleaned are configurable.
  • Built in way to extract Sims3Pack. (For now it's just extracting)

Upcoming features:
  • Themes
  • Manage profile specific saves, library etc.

This tool is still in development, currently missing features:

User Manual

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one, at least! Anyone have ideas on how this issue could be fixed?

I do generally scale up my fonts and icons through the entire system because I spend a lot of time in front of screens and want to protect my eyes from unnecessary strain, but I also explored my general accessibility settings to see if that was the issue. I couldn't figure it out if it is. I'm not sure whether that might be the problem or not.

No idea. All of my display settings are default, but I've been fiddling with them trying to fix this.

The only other thing I can think of is that I play on the Windows side of a bootcamped Mac. I wouldn't think that would matter, but maybe it does?

I have found a fix for "File contains non-zero unused bytes", open the offending package in s3oc > Tools > Fix Integrety > Save, repeat with next file. Slow process if you have a lot of packages that throw the error but it works. Not done extensive testing on if this breaks things after it's done so do backup first.

Hi g0kur, thank you for the project! I see the strong similarities with MO2, which I greatly appreciate. I have an "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" error that I can't seem to solve. The error occurs when I try to open a mod to examine the content & conflicts. If I click "Continue" in the error notification box the information window will open but be entirely blank.

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately."

I play a Bethesda game called fallout 4 and love using Mo2 for that game so I was super excited to try this utility for Sims 3. I am loving it all the same. Could a feature be added that shows an object preview? like if it is a build/buy item the mod organizer can show the image preview of the object as a jpeg or something. I have a hard time remembering what an object looks like so that I may delete it once I close the game.

Default Add executable TS3PatchLauncher not an option
I cant add the TS3PatchLauncher as an executable through MO. The executable is from the Smooth Patch by Lazy Duchess, the Origin version. The Origin version of that mod adds a new launcher and I dont have the option to add it to MO when I click the play button

This is seriously amazing, thank you so much! It's such a struggle to keep Sims 3 mods organized compared to the other games. Would there ever be a chance in the future to add the ability to preview the CC, especially in 3D? I know that each package comes with thumbnails (usually), but I find that they can often be misleading or too small to tell what it will look like in-game. Loading up the game, testing out CC, then trying to track it down is such an arduous process - I'd love to have a way to peek inside a package, get a feel for how it'll look, then decide if I want to install it or not.
I know S3PE has a plugin for viewing 3D, but at least for me it doesn't load textures onto the mesh. And it also doesn't work for non-mesh items like skins, eyebrows, makeup, etc.

Got "To run this application, you must install missing frameworks for .NET. Would you like to download now?", and nothing happened when clicked yes. Guessing .NET Runtime 6.0.8 (x64) on Windows 10 doesn't count.

Did you ever get around to fixing it? I wasn't having issues with the size of the icons but the right side window was impossibly small which made scrolling through packages difficult.
I fixed it on my end by right-clicking the .exe>compatibility>Change DPI Settings>High DPI Scaling Override>tick off override DPI scaling behaviour then pick System
Maybe it'll help?

That being said, every time I try to run a build merge I get this error:

Code:
System.IO.EndOfStreamException: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream.

   at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, WM msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

If I click continue, the program grays out and stay that way. I let it run for about 20 minutes but nothing happened. Since nobody has really talked about how long it takes to build, I don't know if it's normal.
I tried to troubleshoot on my own but hit a dead end.

Edit: D'oh, it was an user end issue.
I organized my mod folders closer to how the preview picture shows: I took mods out and put them in smaller folders sorted by mod author, I also took out some packages I had already merged and put those in their own folders. Then I doublechecked corrupted mods and fixed them, now it works properly.

Thank you for this mod and so excited to see a mod that came out this year! I just installed it and plan to share my experience here.
