Jeff and Pamela Easter were your average young couple living in Bridgeport with 2 children, Mira and Mark. Jeff had been orphaned as a child, but was fortunate to have been as bright as he was. He received an academic scholarship to Sims University, and became an accountant in a large firm. Pamela was a stay-at-home mom without any career aspirations except to raise her children well. Jeff was on his way to work one day when he was approached by the FBI. Apparently, Jeff worked for an accounting firm that had some “unsavory” clients. Unbeknownst to Jeff, he had cooked the books for one such client, Don Luis Carlos de Montoya Solis! The head of the Islo Paradiso cartel!!!
The FBI wanted Jeff to testify against Don Solis, but Jeff was afraid for his family if he did. He went home to tell Pamela, and they had a visitor—an odd-looking fellow by the name of Avery Goodspeed.
He had come to tell Pamela that her Great Aunt Mimosa Halliwell Goodspeed had passed and left her house to her. Pamela had heard stories about her Aunt Mim, but had never met her. Why would she leave the house to her? Avery explained to Pamela that although she had never met her aunt, her aunt had met her—when she was born. He went on to explain that Pamela’s mother, Patience, had been Mim’s favorite niece. When Patience married Pamela’s father, Colin Barnes, her parents had disowned her—they didn’t trust or like the Barnes family—kind of like the Hatfields and the McCoys.
Mim took them into her home until they could get on their feet. Right after Pamela was born, Avery said Colin took Patience and the baby to the city—and forbade Mim from ever contacting them again. Pamela asked why? Avery said he didn’t know, but Pamela felt he did. Pamela couldn’t ask her parents—they died mysteriously three years ago while visiting the tombs in Simla Egypt!
After Avery left, Jeff told Pamela about his encounter with the FBI—Pamela was very frightened at first, then said, “Let’s disappear! We can change our names, our looks, and start over! We have a place to go now!” They left their apartment in Bridgeport without anything except the clothes on their backs and a few of the children’s clothes. They stopped in Aurora Falls for a short time to establish a new identity-Sabrina and Brett Funke. Mira and Mark thought it was a wonderful new adventure getting to pick new names—Piper and Christopher—and move without telling anyone! Sabrina got pregnant while they were there, and they decided to stay long enough to have the baby and re-establish their lives. Once Cara was born, they headed to Appaloosa Plains.
After asking for directions, they found Aunt Mim’s house, and for the first time since fleeing Bridgeport, they weren’t sure they had made the right choice. The house was in shambles—something Avery “forgot” to mention—and in need of serious repairs. Three years later and a lot of blood, sweat and tears—not to mention $$--Rhett and Sabrina have made Mim’s old—and odd—home theirs. And now, for the continuing saga……

3 Weeks Ago in Appaloosa Plains:
Piper came home from school one day and told her mom, “Professor Goodspeed needs to talk to you and Dad as soon as possible.” Sabrina looks at Rhett with concern across the counter and asks her, “He’s in town?” Piper said, “Yes, he said he was here for a meeting. He told me to tell you that he received a package for Dad from Isla Paradiso yesterday, and he didn’t want to bother us since we were celebrating my birthday.” And with that, Piper took a carrot stick her mother had just julienned for dinner, and started downstairs.
Oh no! That could only mean one thing! The cartel had found them!! As Sabrina dried her hands and took her apron off, Rhett told Piper, “We better go see him right away. He must think it is important. You stay here please, and watch after your brothers and sister. We’ll be back soon.” Sabrina added, “Please continue cooking dinner in case we aren’t back before dinner. “ Piper, being a teenager, rolled her eyes at her parents, and said “I always have to take care of the kids. I don’t want to finish cooking dinner!” She looked at her father defiantly, and without another word spoken to her said “Ok, Mom, Dad. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of things.” Piper had only seen her Dad with that look one other time—she was only 7, when she was still Mira……
They are running again. This time, though, things are different, THEY’RE different. They’re going to Aunt Mim’s house in Moonlight Falls. Sabrina has found that she and Piper have developed some “abilities”, so they pack up the kids, the Book of Shadows, and a few toys for Wyatt (the newest addition to the family), and head off to Moonlight Falls—a place they can be safe and hidden! Once in Moonlight Falls, they find that they will fit in very well. After all, everyone knew Mim and Sabrina’s special connection to her— and it’s where Professor Goodspeed is. Sabrina will need his help if she is going develop and control her and Piper’s newfound abilities to keep her family safe!
