Ok ok, enough sitting on this, I might as well post it up. I'm a little concerned it's not sporty enough, but I've combed the catalog twice and every since piece of sportiness is in here already, No CC hits hard for sports. Jones convinced me that I needed to add AL to my Uni because what is the college experience without cheap shitty apartments? I also really wanted elevators and stages. While those came with OFB originally, AL also included them.
Thanks for meeting us up at MayDay err... YamYad! This hole in the wall bar is in an older converted electrical station. They hold trivia on Tuesday nights, BYO Vinyl Nights once a month that my ex-bf and friend run, open mic night, various dance parties and smaller bands, and my favorite, the Slurring Bee. For $5, you continue getting shots for every word you spell correctly until you either misspell and are out, or win!
The outside sports a enclosed courtyard where a small bonfire is often a-glow, and patrons can kick back and blow some 'bubbles'.
One step inside the bar and you are going to get carded unless you are a regular. The front bar tends to get super crowded but it's where you want to be if you are meeting up with a friend. They offer a variety of local craft beers, but specialize in the cheap hipster beer Simbst Blue Ribbon.
Turn around and behind you is the DJ booth where you will find my friend Risher spinning his LPs. This also doubles as the sound booth for when bands are playing on stage. Unless there is an band playing, the area near the stage tends to be pretty dead so it's a little smaller than you'd think, but they don't book bands every night.
The stage is small but big enough for a full indie band and it keeps you close enough to your audience so you never once think about 'selling out'. Your fans don't really dance, just sorta stand and bob their heads and drinks in your direction - they are too cool to actually dance. You are close enough to them that you can smell them, patchouli with a strong undertone of bubble-blower.
YamYad serves up fantastic hotdogs. You order from the window, the menu is on the corkboard. A vintage video game sits near the bathrooms.
Moving upstairs is a game room. MayDay also has a pingpong table and those open industrial windows are a game hazard as they open out onto the street. YamYad is a little tamer, but you still have to be careful not to throw your darts too wild.
The upper bar is very popular and it tends to be the busiest place of the night as you can smoke out on the patio. The bar itself is covered so even in the rain they stay open.
This is where the upstairs party is happening. Everything is whether proof, including the patrons it seems! You can look over the edge at the courtyard below or look out at the rest of campus.
And here's the bottom and top views:
Though you can't see it because of how slanty I have the views, both bathrooms do have a sink, mirrors, and trash cans. In the kitchen is the uni cook top because I don't have the NL community stove available to me. There are phones behind every bar and in the kitchen. Out the back kitchen door is a bench for the cooks to take a smoke break or whatever bar cooks do to make your drop fries take 20 mins. All of the beer cans and water bottles are EA, and placed with cheats rather than move blocks. My 'dance floor' is probably smaller than you'd prefer, but jocks don't really dance in the first place, and the hipsters who are co-mingling with them here don't dance either. There are 3 public trash cans, but it doesn't really look like anyone is using them. My extra wall pieces were used to bump the stage out one row (7) and to enclose the kitchen (6) and give the upper bar a back wall (6). I used absolutely NO CC, no walls or floors or even defaults. Dance floor - yes but small, dj booth - yes, bar - 3 of them, 2 tables - yes, 4 chairs - 6 chairs!
