4. How to Manually Patch RugOMatic Yourself
*note: these tutorials are not required for the Patch. Follow them if you need to / want to *note: Transmogrifier will be referred to as "Tmog" *note: click "Show/Hide spoiler" to Open Tutorial and/or See Screenshots
1. How to Set Up Transmogrifier & RugOMatic to Work with The Sims 1 Legacy Collection
1.1. Run Transmogrifier as Administrator - right-click the file "Transmogrifier.exe" and choose "Run as administrator" 1.2. Once Tmog is open, at the top of its window, on the right, click the button "About The Sims Transmogrifier..."
1.3. A new window opens, click the button "Set Sims Install Path"
1.4. Navigate to the folder where The Sims Legacy is installed for you. This folder will be located differently if you installed the game via EA App, Steam or Epic Game. It should be one of these:
Code:
- Steam:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims Legacy Collection\
- EA App:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims Legacy\
*note: Epic Game should probably have a different directory too
1.5. Select the file "Sims.exe" and click "Open". Then click "OK" and close Transmogrifer.
1.6. Now run RugOMatic as Administrator - right-click the file "RugOMatic.exe" and choose "Run as administrator" 1.7. Once RugOMatic is open, click the "Configure" button
1.8. A new window opens, the first thing it says is "Output Folder". Click the button "Change Folder"
1.9. Navigate to your "Downloads" folder (where you install Mods and CC). Then click the button "Open"
1.10. Just above that "Change Folder" button (from Step 1.8), you should now see the path to your "Downloads" folder. Make sure it has "RugOMatic\" in front of it, if it doesn't, copy and paste it there. It should look like this:
Code:
C:\...[*the path to your Legacy installation folder*]...\Downloads\RugOMatic\*note: [path to Legacy installation] will be different if game was installed via EA App, Steam or Epic Game
1.11. Now click the button "OK"
Done. Both Transmogrifier and RugOMatic have been configured to work with Legacy Collection.
2.2. Right-click "Transmogrifier.exe" and choose "Properties"
2.3. At the top of the "Properties" window, go to the "Compatibility" tab 2.4. At the bottom of the window, in the "Settings" section, find the option that says "Run this program as an administrator" and tick/check the box in front of this option 2.5. At the bottom of the window, click the button "Apply". Then click the button "OK" and the window will close
2.6. Repeat all this procedure for RugOMatic: the file "RugOMatic.exe" should be installed in one of the following folders:
3. How to Add Your Magic Cookie Number to Transmogrifier
*note: this tutorial is for those who already have a Magic Cookie number. It won't go through how to get one
3.1. Run Tmog as Administrator 3.2. On the right panel, you should see a huge list of in-game objects and installed CC. Choose an object from the list (any object) and select it 3.3. Click the button "Clone Object File..."
3.4. A new window opens. The second field, where it says "Magic Cookie Number", check if your number is there. If it's not, make sure you add it 3.5. The first field (named "New Object File Name" - just above the "Magic Cookie Number" field) is important too, you should pick a unique name (like, add your creator name there too), but for this tutorial we only want to save your Magic Cookie and you will want to delete this file later, so it doesn't matter, just make sure you remember the name it has now so you can delete the correct file later
3.6. Click OK 3.7. A new window opens. Wait a couple of seconds until you see "Transmogrifier Successfully Finished Cloning!" in green. Click "OK"
3.8. This newly cloned IFF object will be added to the following folder and you will probably want to delete it (you'll find it by the name you chose in Step 3.5 of this tutorial), since we only created it in order for Tmog to save your Magic Cookie. That folder is:
Code:
C:\...[*the path to your installation folder*]...\Downloads\Transmogrified
*note: [path to your installation folder] will be different if you have The Complete Collection, Legacy Edition, Deluxe. etc.
Done. This is the process for adding or re-adding your Magic Cookie Number to Tmog. Next time you clone something, Tmog will already have your number saved there, since it stores it in its registry. RugOMatic uses Tmog to create the rugs and will automatically add your Magic Cookie number to them as well.
*note: whenever you clone a new object with Tmog using your Magic Cookie number, if you decide to share this object with the community, in that case make sure you never remove this object from your Downloads folder. This is because whenever you clone a new object with Tmog, it will always check for every GUID number that is still available/free/unused and assign one of them to your new clone. If an object that you had shared is no longer in your Downloads, Tmog might assign the same GUID to your new clone (which could conflict with other objects). In short: if you share a file that you created (only if you share it), always keep it in your Downloads folder so that Tmog won't re-use that same GUID number
*note: follow these steps carefully and you will do exactly the same thing the Patch does, except with this method you won't need the Patch. You must have both Transmogrifier and RugOMatic (their respective last version) installed and must have already run them (As Administrator) at least once, otherwise they won't have generated the registry entries we need to edit. You must also never have installed our Patch - if you have, uninstall both programs and re-install them first
4.1. On Windows, open the "Start" Menu (located in your Taskbar) and just type:
Code:
regedit
4.2. "Registry Editor" will appear at the top of the Start Menu, click on it. You will get a message saying "Do you want to allow this app...", click "Yes" 4.3. The "Registry Editor" window opens. At the top of the window (just below the menu where you can select File / Edit / View / etc.) you will see a bar with an address to some directory. Copy and paste the following address there (replacing the address that was already there) and hit "Enter". This address will be different if you are on a 64-bit Windows version or 32-bit:
Code:
- On 64-bit Windows versions:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Lush Creations\The Sims Transmogrifier
- On 32-bit Windows versions:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lush Creations\The Sims Transmogrifier
4.4. This is where RugOMatic stores its generated Serial Number (even though it refers to Tmog). On the right panel, under the column "Name", look for an entry named "SerialNumber" - do you see one? If you do, continue this tutorial until Step 4.10 and you're done. If you don't have the "SerialNumber" entry, skip this tutorial now straight to Step 4.10.
4.5. So you do have a "SerialNumber" entry, then double-click it 4.6. A new window opens, named "Edit String". For the field "Value data", add the following number. Then click "OK":
Code:
1740948824551711527614
4.7. We've now just configured RugOMatic's serial number. But now we need to add RugOMatic's Registration Key. At the address bar at the top of the window, copy and paste the following address there (replacing the address that was already there) and hit "Enter":
Code:
- On 64-bit Windows versions:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Lush Creations\The Sims RugOMatic
- On 32-bit Windows versions:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lush Creations\The Sims RugOMatic
4.8. On the right panel, under the column "Name", look for an entry named "LICENSE" and double-click it
4.9. A new window opens, named "Edit String". For the field "Value data" (which should be blank by default), add the following number. Then click "OK":
Code:
1978415670
4.10. Close the Registry Editor. Run RugOMatic (As Administrator) and see if the activation worked. If it worked, stop the tutorial here and you're all set. But if it didn't work, we will also need to modify the file "RugOMatic.exe" using a Hex Editor.
4.11. To modify the file "RugOMatic.exe" using a Hex Editor, we'll be using a free program named x64dbg
Code:
- Download x64dbg: https://x64dbg.com/ *note: click "Download" and chose the ZIP file with the most recent date starting with "snapshot_". At the time of this tutorial, the most recent version is "snapshot_2025-03-15_15-57.zip"
4.12. Extract all the files from this ZIP anywhere (after you're done, you can delete both the ZIP and extracted files). Navigate to the folder:
Code:
release\x32
4.13. Right-click "x32dbg.exe" and "Run as administrator"
4.14. Once x32dbg is open, go to File -> Open. Navigate to the folder where RugOMatic.exe is installed and open it
4.15. Right-click somewhere in the middle of the window and select Search for -> All Modules -> String References. A new window opens and you see a green bar at the bottom, loading all the strings (text) available in the program
4.16. Wait until it reaches "Total Progress 100%". Now just above this green bar, you will see a "Search" bar. Copy and paste the following there:
Code:
ergc
4.17. The String list is now showing only one module, at the top. Look for the part in red that has the text "ergc" and right-click on it. Choose "Follow in Disassembler"
4.18. You are now back to the main window but this time that line we chose just now (the one containing "ergc") is selected (in gray) at the top of the window. Right-click this line and choose Binary -> Fill with NOPs
4.19. A new window opens named "Size". Make sure you have the following numbers (they should all already be there by default):
4.20. Click "OK". You will notice that the line we had previously selected now becomes 6 different lines, all containing the word "nop". We have just made this line false. This way, RugOMatic won't try to load its Serial Number from a registry entry that we don't want it to, so that the Patch can work
4.21. Go to File -> Patch File.... A new window opens named "Patches". Click the button "Patch File". Save it as "RugOMatic Patch.exe" in the same folder where RugOMatic is installed. You can now close the program x32dbg.
4.22. On Windows, go to the folder where RugOMatic is installed. Find the original "RugOMatic.exe" and move it somewhere safe (in case you need to revert back to it)
4.23. Rename our newly created file "RugOMatic Patch.exe" to just "RugOMatic.exe". Right-click on it and "Run as Administrator". This will prompt RugOMatic to generate that "SerialNumber" registry entry that you couldn't find before (in Step 4.4)
4.24. Close RugOMatic completely 4.25. Now that RugOMatic should have successfully generated the SerialNumber where we want it, refer to Step 4.1 of this tutorial to open Regedit 4.26. Refer to Step 4.3 of this tutorial to navigate to the path where RugOMatic has now added the SerialNumber (it will be in Transmogrifier's path) 4.27. On the right panel, under the column "Name", look for an entry named "SerialNumber" and double-click it
4.28. Follow the Steps from 4.4 until 4.10 of this tutorial so you can change the "SerialNumber" field to the number we want and also add the "LICENSE".
Done. You now have an identical copy of our Patch and RugOMatic should be fully activated for you.
