Video Tutorials - Basements & Garages
I made 3 -And I'm wondering what people think of them. Are they helpful at all? Could they be helpful if I improved them somehow? They are on google video.... if the screen is too big or too small for you... click the little down pointing arrow under the video window...Basement Building:

Thanks for the feedback you guys
LOL Sorry to dissapoint you Patul... but everything I buy for my computer is for the dang Sims2 Game, and I never needed a microphone for the game before, so I don't have one
.... I think I'd be too shy having my voice on the thing.... I could imagine myself recording it over and over again thinking "I don't actually sound like that!!" I might splice in/overlay some text with tips though... I've haven't video recorded much before... I'm going to play around with it some more... oooo maybe I could put some really annoying music in the background... just kiddin' I won't

As video clips become eaiser to make, guess they can provide aother platform for tutoring...
khakidoo,
Thanks for the nice videos.
A tip: may add some lights @ night mode and bright tiles can help brighten up the in-room area or even leave a wall segment gap for in-room visualisation in the future tutorials...
I guess, with these, things are made even easier...

Yes I agree, the vids are kind of dark... I'm doing some new ones - well
same subjects but recorded with video capture quality set to high (which
still doesn't seem very clear - I've been cruising the movie-makers forums
for tips) and I had thought to add some lights (yah switch over to night
and then add lights then back to daylight) but then I completely forgot
to do that! Luckily, there's a way in the windows movie maker to brighten
the clips... Not as good as having it lit up in-game... I didn't even think
about the floor color though - I'm afraid the carpet in the new one
(basement tute) is even darker... but I'm learning

These vids take up a lot of room on my computer! I tried to do some vids
on my old computer but didn't have room - got this comp a couple weeks
ago - 3 hundred seconds of playback fills up like 90MB's !yowza!.... and
it's wierd because gameplay is slow while recording... and I build for 15
minutes... then the playback is super fast 300 seconds - I have to slow
it down in the movie maker... oh well I'm babbling...
hmmm it just hit midnight here in AZ USA...Happy New Year! Ugh! I really
need to get a life...

EDIT to add: Hey! I'm in a list! The list you just added! Yay! That totally
qualifies as "getting a life" right?

oh and - I will probably have the three ones that I did , re-done a bit clearer
and with text on it and up on google, by sometime tomorrow... so check back
for updated links...

These are wonderful, especially for someone like me who learns by watching and doing instead of reading. I really appreciate it!

Yeah too bad you can't print it off to read while playing like text but video is easier out of game. I think they're really good though!

Classic tutorials are on : http://www.sims2wiki.info/Tutorials..._Mode_Tutorials
khakidoo's job is awesome, it is a new tutorial way. Perhaps the next tuts will be with paper AND vidéo downloads ? Why not ?

Yeah I use so many tutorials in text but how cool would it be like importing video tutorials into the game and watching em while you build.... :D

Ok WOW.... I'm shocked.... it seems that Google video changed the addresses of all my videos, they didn't bother sending me any sort of notice or "update your links" e-mailor anything.... luckily someone responding to another post of mine told me links weren't working....... that is so wildly lame .... I've updated the links above so they should be ok for now - Please if anyone finds that they aren't working again, let me know... In the meantime I guess I'll upload them to youtube instead - although I preferred googles screensize options.... I dunno wow.... I'm shocked..!!
Thanks...
Thanks...

I have never gotten the basement thing before, no matter how good the tutorial. Seeing it live action finally got it to click. Thank you so much for these!

Thanks for sharing the videos. I watched the one for adding a garage to a foundation.
I can't imagine how much room my videos take. I am sure I passed the 750 video mark recently, though some are those "Oops, I hit the video button instead of camera" situations lol.
You did a great job
EDIT: I tried it (by memory) and though it was a long process (due to trying to memorize it) I finally got it!! Had a bit of trouble figuring out how to level it all down again (the walls) but figured out it was the level option for the ground. I had no idea it worked on walls too. Then I forgot to turn it off (LOL!) and messed up some things but had learned how to level so it wasn't drastic :D
Thanks much!!

It's hard for me to play Live Mode... everytime I try, I realize that my sims need a special new house... so I go build them one... then as I'm building the house I realize it needs this or that new custom object....

that's a lovely answer...
Sometimes, some of us do want more than what the game can offer.
