Default A new arching tutorial!
I just finished a part in my upcoming series of arching tutorials that shows how to make a large open arched doorway that is ideal for castles or anything else you can think of. Check out this link for tutorial http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/story_detail.php?asset_id=7346
Later installments will cover skylights, bridges( like the one in my Riverside Walk lot), how to hide the ugly underside of connecting stairs and reverse mirroring. Dont worry, none of its really as hard as it sounds. Well, maybe just a little.

I read and followed your first arch tutorial and this one and I have a few suggestions:

1. Please turn off shadows on your game the shadows obstruct the tiles and the view.

2. Please take the pictures MUCH closer to what you are currently working on....for instance in this tute this screen:

Now begin to lower the tile next to the center by lowering the high side and raising the low side.

Is accompanied by a pic that is far enough away that I can not tell what high and low side you are referring to. :-(

3. Also is your pic quality set to high? The pics are a bit fuzzy.

I am VERY appreciative of your tutes, do not get me wrong, these things would only help make them a tad easier to follow. :-)

Default Easy Tutorial - A Simple Arch (credit to daihtnaoz7)

Just when you thought the fun was over, I have whipped up another tute for you to enjoy, ponder, and study in detail and depth!

This tute will show you how to make the above arch, and with all my tutes I have taken great care to make it as simple, easy, and understandable as possible. You will still need to concentrate a bit as this is an advanced building technique which make liberal use of the boolprop constrainFloorElevation cheat, but once you get the hang of it you'll be whipping up arches all over the tootin' place!

Check it out here: http://mysticmusings.typepad.com/ar...tutorial_a.html

Whew! I finally managed to finsh pt.2a of my aching tutorial series without my game crashing on me. This part covers the basics of simple arched bridges. As soon as I can I'll make another for layered bridges. I really hope that this tute is simple enough this time around for the benefit of novice simmers out there! :! Here's a link http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/story_detail.php?asset_id=7498
Enjoy!

Default The Ultimate Pagoda Tutorial.
As a preview of the kind of quality work you'll get from the Architectural Arts Academy, here's our Pagoda Tutorial

This is a technical tutorial, so it belongs here in the Build forum. In the future, the AAA will release both technical and artistic tutorials.

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

Quinn,

Thanks... there's a cheat I forgot about... Oops! Basically, it's a cheat that allows you to place walls under uneven tiles. I think it's pretty much a must-have if you mess with roofs, otherwise you're very limited in what you can do.

I recommend you implement this quick little cheat:

Go to this folder:

Program Files\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts

Open the Walls.txt file.

Under the line that says:
# normal walls

change:
requiresFlatTop true
into:
requiresFlatTop false

and save. There you go.

Question for the talented modders out there: Could someone package this cheat into some easy downloadable package?
I'll pay fifty thousand simoleons for it!

Default Waterfalls
Ok, so I found this awesome waterfall tutorial, but for some reason can't get it to work in my game. Whenever I try, the water appears at the bottom, but not on the cliff itself. Has anyone else seen/tried this? OR does anyone know an alternate way to make waterfalls?

I'm the author of that tutorial (mightswordbio). There are thing to remember:

- YOu don't really need to place the cursor on the fence. Just as long as the circle is inside the surface of the waterfall. That's why sometime you need to place the cursor below the fence, so it can be fixed inside the surface (that's the tricky part I mention, the circle of the water tool "must" be inside the waterfall surface, sorry for not very clear about it :p)

- I think there are 2 directions that work and 2 directions that won't work, so like if you can not create the waterfall on west and south, try north and east, and this is random for each lots.

Also, visit my page again, there is another waterfall castle on it :D, and tell me what you think about my Garden of Peace?

I love the Pagoda roof but I want to be able to put it up on a deck like traditional Japanese structures. I am building a Japanese lot and this would be a great addition instead of having the building on the ground.

Default Tutorial for creating pool lakes & beaches
I hope this is the right forum to post this!

I had a lot of requests to explain how I got the beach effect with the pool on my island resort ( http://www.modthesims2.com/showthre...41&page=1&pp=25 ). This tutorial is .htm that you can download and view offline.

If there are any questions just message me or post here. zip added by request.

Please note that this will only work with Sims 2 and not the expansion packs. I am currently trying to figure a way for my houses to work with them.
