We just need a user-friendly tool for creating new swatches.

Well, at least we now know what to address for recolors. It might not be feasible in game, but it provides some clue on designing a recolor tool for individual objects.

I do wish they had just used plain old hex codes, though. It would have made selecting complimentary colors far easier than decimal equivalents (yes, you can do the conversion, but it's easier to just input the hex codes from Colourlovers or wherever you get your color palettes from).

Since the clothes have set colors/styles, doesn't that mean that they also have alpha channels? So theoretically they're already set for recolors, but since they have no color wheels in place we can only select through the presets.

The Sims look great; really, I love the look of them (the hair is still...iffy but it's not completely turning me away). But I wonder how they will look in the game as opposed to CAS; in TS3 the Sims looked so drastically different CAS vs in-game IMHO.

Also, the game still appears to lack any gameplay, so...

That's funny about all the leftover TS3 code. Isn't that kinda, lazy? Or is that common practice?

A simple "recolor" tool isn't enough. This is not like it was in 3. You'd probably run the risk of ruining the overall style of the object trying to recolor it.

Example - you want to make a light brown wooden coffee table dark brown. Now, if all objects are given a generic lighting scheme of "1.00, 1.00, 1.00,1.00), sure, bump it down to "0.50, 0.50, 0.50, 1.00" with whatever in game tool modders create - just to make it darker. However, for more complex, two toned objects, or things with stripes and patterns, you'll probably create some awful colorful monstrosity because the game wasn't build to be used in such a way.

You'll get some that work without a problem, and some objects that'll wig the hell out. While a color system exists (for recoloring Plumbobs or whatever), without objects having masks, you're just not going to get the best out of the system, so you'd be better off just sticking to simple recolors. I'd imagine a Plumbob is one generic color and it probably fades in and out depending on mood of the Sims it's above or whatever else.

Presets are a definite. Alpha's a definite (for blending). In game recolors with a wheel is a note. It's like changing the overall hue of an object, not it's parts (since we have no masks to seperate edit points, and that's not just something you simply add). Some will look great, but I'm sure most will look like garbage when edited.

From the gameplay videos we've seen so far, I would have to say the Sims look much worse in-game.

As for the leftover code, I'd say it's both.

I've seen quite a few posts indicating that once you download the demo from Origin, you must stayed logged in to the account to launch and play it. So even if you download it, you must still be connected to run it. Which is completely opposite of what the FAQ said, if the reports are true. Unless I'm interpreting something wrong.

A: Yes, The Sims 4 Create a Sim Demo is available from Origin and you will use the Origin client to download and install the demo. Once installed, you don't need to be online to play the demo.

Crinrict said you must have Origin running at all times when you play the demo but you can go offline on it, so the FAQ is technically correct.

Well I'm just theorizing. Even if it could be done, I didn't say it'll come off good either...
Perhaps a way to make it work is by making a white preset for everything. But of course that wouldn't help with patterned or multicolored items...

Here's an example of why a basic "color wheel" wont work the way the game is set up:

Is this something that was supposed to be hidden and buried within codes and someone managed to make it work? Or is this monstruosity completed and left there on purpouse?

Who the hell designed that and thought that it was good enough quality to be in the game. It's horrific looking.

So about this origin thing. You must have an origin account to be able to play the game? How invasive and tactile? Thanks but no thanks EA.

*tinfoil hat* Do you think there's a pool running in the EA office/s to see who could come up with the worst hair and still have squeefans run up and down in excitement?
