Entry - "Get Your Game On" - Fun Center

This place has a little of everything; Bowling, Roller Skate Rink, Bumper Cars, Roller Coaster, Ferris Wheel, Arcade, Pool and Hoops. There are food kiosks and soda machines throughout. Slides between levels for those who don't want to walk down.

(Because of the roller coaster's CFE I had to remove a couple of windows and doors on the second level. They refused to go back in.)

Just curious...is any one who participated in R2 shell going to upload their lots here or anywhere else?

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

Had a hectic few days, but back to stock that fermented juice bar Love the colors, porkypine, lot is looking good!
Uploading, Charmful - I guess I could upload my factory shell, but it does contain masses of cc and there isn't really that much for Sims to do. I have not really thought about that yet.

I'm not uploading the lot. I have a lot of CC where the creator's did not label it with their name so I can't cite the source. I've had most of my CC since Sims 2 days so who remembers now where I got it or even if their sites are still up.

Default Round 4 - Consolidated School
After the city consolidated all the smaller schools into the new school system at a new larger school on the outskirts of the city, they were left with a lot of sad empty school buildings. Each is a pillar in their own residential communities, but sitting empty, they have become crime threats. Your neighborhood school sits on a 4x3 (wide) lot and has 3 floors and a foundation. On the ground floor is the lobby, main office with secretary area and 2 private offices, nurse’s suite, music room, art studio, gym (needs extra ceiling height, so remove the foundation here), library, and restrooms. The two upper floors are identical, each having 8 class rooms, and a boys’ and girls’ restroom centrally located. There are multiple staircases and an elevator in the building and on the grounds there is a fenced in playground and paved play area. Outside the fence is parking for 8+. See the included images for basic styling.

I was literally JUST IN one of these types of school buildings today. Lordy, do I know those ridiculous stairs. (Classroom was on the third floor, and I had to accompany the kids down to the basement and back up to main floor based on the school's established foot traffic patterns for every bell and for choir (basically, I ran those stairs around 11 times over about 3.5 hours this morning). Owwwie, my knees....

Are we allowed to have additions on the school? (Don't think there's the room for it, frankly, but I'd give it a go)

(Also, I think you may have given away the reno in that picture!)

Campy, no basements, no additions. If you need more space, make the original building larger. Also, no, this building will not become a theater or community learning center.

If y'all haven't noticed by now, each reno round has required more parking than the original. PLEASE make sure to give yourself lots of nice green areas to be able to accommodate additional future parking.

I am actually sitting in another one of these school buildings right now! (Oh, the joys of working for the oldest division in the city...) Lots of early 1900s school buildings... I've been eyeing up all the nooks and crannies all day.

Wow. Good luck everyone. Campy, perfect timing. I would take lots of shots and shamelessly replicate them.

Is this a good start?
What about the roof level? It's tall enough to be usable (I put windows up there) but, it won't have access. Is that OK?

Not really perfect timing. I fell behind on my NaNo word count and I now have to try and mad-type about 6000 words in a few days.

Cat, these schools all have flat roofs. Usually a good way to go is to use either a short fence along the top, or a stage, or a half wall.

How tiny do you want the 8 classrooms? There is not enough space for all that you ask. I can chop each classroom to 6 desks and might be able to squeeze in a bathroom and stairway. If I expand the building footprint, then I won't have room for parking and a playground.

I managed to squeeze it all in.

Although the IRL teacher in me is going "We MAKE the 30 kids fit in the small room, dang-it", I realize the limitations of Sims 2 are somewhat lacking the ingenuity of elementary school teachers in an overcrowded building.

Based on the pictures of the last school building I tried to make in Sims, it was more decorative than functional. I think my average classroom fit 8 students (4 2-tile tables with chairs directly in front of the next row), with space for one desk as a "teacher hub", so each room's footprint was roughly 5x7? It is going to be tight this round, methinks. I haven't had a chance to open up my Sims game in weeks. I really should tonight, if only to get a roughed out footprint of this school while Inspiration School* is still fresh in my mind. Oh, well. First to get Sunday School plans done up and sent out, then do some NaNo catch up. Hopefully I can get into Sims sometime later tonight...

Round 4 Entry

Lincoln High - School for misfit children.

This is one ugly, old fashioned school.
Per your request, I tore out the main staircase and replaced it with bathrooms.

Default School First try
First attempt at the school, I have not completed the outside, need to know if the floor plan is going in the right direction (I probably will make a few small changes to those still, but I don't want to spend a lot of time if they are not going to work). (Edit : I know there is a secretarial area needed, would probably do that by moving around walls in the Nurse room).

Default Round 4 - Floor Plan Check
All right. I finally went, "Oh, forget this!" to my (woefully behind) NaNo project this afternoon and spent a bit of time roughing out a floorplan.

Welcome to Elizabeth Regina School! (Please ignore the time-era-inaccurate.... well... everything. I opted for easy sights for the walls on these screenshots.) I'm going to add a hood deco alleyway on the side of the lot to mimic the entrance for the parking lot. No exterior shot because it's not done yet. People, I have to write approximately 3500 words tonight if I want a hope of winning NaNoWriMo this year. Be glad you got this much.

It's BYOL (bring your own lunch) and eat in the halls. :P

Oh yea! In the school I attended they pulled down tables from the walls in the gym/auditorium. They are left there unless something is going on gym wise or for a show, meeting, etc. And lots of schools no longer cook food. It's all brought in by caterers from some contractor who won the contract for the district. And it's junk food like hotdogs, pizza, etc. no real meals.

Here schools don't provide food to day students; most schools are mornings only. Other activities like athletics or other sport, choir, drama, whatever are after lunch and learners go back for their own activities after lunch or at night. (Some have hostels for learners who live far, of course).

We also don't have lunches provided in my area. That was one of the strangest things I ever saw when I taught in England: the entire "school lunch" idea threw me for a loop! (Also, the "no national anthem or announcements" at the start of the day) The schools are split in my division between students eating in their classrooms and being sent down to the gym/multipurpose room/etc. for the eating portion of their lunch hour.
