LOL! I always find things like that (things I'd meant to remove) when I'm taking upload pictures.

Your place looks great! I'd play there

Hello Phae! Can I put an elevator in my Victorian? The original didn't have one because it was a house but a multilevel library needs one.

I always find something wrong when I go to take shots. Either for contests or for uploaded lots. Yesterday I found a floating light and some chairs that i had forgotten to recolour on a motel lot I built. Always after floor plan shots are taken.

Porky, I won't say no, but the City has granted special permission to the library to not be entirely ADA compliant. Extra helpful libraries who can fetch things from the upper levels and such. Also, if you have an elevator, do you also have a ramp up the front steps?

I am working on the ramp, even if I have to make one.

Victorian to Library Conversion Entry

Griswald Public Library

Welcome to the Griswald Family Estate Public Library. Come to read and stay the day. There are plenty of quiet corners to study and read, a computer room, conference room, meeting room, stacks and an elevator for the 'stair-adverse'. The children's room on the top floor offers books and a sunny play nook. The Library has special 'observation nights' where the local planetary society and interested skywatchers meet on the Sun/Moon deck to search the night skies.

The neighborhood association decided that they wanted to preserve as much of the house as possible so they voted no on taking off the back end of this old Victorian for mere parking. There is limited parking in back, a long driveway and street parking. Since this is a walking neighborhood, most people stroll in.

edit: 12-28-16 : My game broke and I lost this lot. I can not make parking lot lines as requested. There really is not parking in rear for 6 cars. You can only navigate 2 in back, one in the driveway where another car can squeeze past and one in front. I only built it for 2 cars in back. So, you'll have to ding points for parking.

It's almost impossible to fit 6 parking spaces in my lot - I say almost, because I have figured out a way,. but it is really unorthodox... I will take a picture and post it so you can give your opinion. I should have left more space in the back... Also, I would like a wall diagram. There're 2 walls that are annoying me, I want to knock them down, but I don't know if I can (again, I will take some photos and post them).

EDIT: Pictures added. The two black circles are the walls I'm talking about (one of them is already knocked down).

PanAm, that parking lot is not going to work. If a car is parked in either of the two middle spaces, the two in the back can't get out. You'll only have 4 spaces, but maybe you can find a place for some bike racks. Perhaps sub the middle two out for some skinny motorcycle parking turned 90os?

As for your walls, yes, you can knock those down. The main wall in that floorplan is the one running the full length of the building. Usually load bearing walls run the short direction in a house (which would be the two walls you want to take down) but because that walls runs the full length and is dead center, I'll allow that one to be the supporting wall. Do you need your upstairs rooms as well? The wall with the door to Sitting Room 1 needs to stay, and so does the wall that runs the other direction and divides the master suite and sitting room 2 from the hall. On your third floor, I need you to keep the wall with the doors to rooms 2, 3, and bath.

Speaking of parking, Porky, your library is gorgeous, but could you put some parking lines down so patrons know where is ok to leave their car and where it isn't so they don't block other people in and get towed? I think you could prolly keep 5 into the back in addition to your handicapped parking in the front. Make sure all the cars have space to get out. You might have to turn your back stairs to gain an extra square.

Okay, so the parking spaces have to be 'usable' as well. Sorry guys.

I have finished the first floor. It has a computer room, the reception, the conference room, employees' entrance, stockroom and some sort of support room for the conference room.

Here's the almost finished version of the library. Since tomorrow is Christmas Eve, I don't know if I'll have time to do some minor chages. If not, I'll just add names to the rooms and turn this into my entry.
The lot has 4 car parking spaces and 2 bike holders (is that what they're called in English?), a service entrance, a circulation desk, a conference room, storage areas, stock room and break room, 2 staff offices, stacks, 2 study rooms, a children's room, public and staff washrooms and public computers.

Everyone, go enjoy your family and the holidays for a few days. How about library renos (and school shells) are officially due on Wednesday?

Happy Holidays!

*sigh* Well, I've been telling you that I have to restore my game every time I restart it but this time, I could not get my test neighborhood to load. I've lost my contest house and the school.. I can rebuild the school fairly easily but I'm just going to submit the library as is. I am not loading the grunge CC that caused the problem. Not sure which one it was but they are all out, mainly because I don't like the grunge look anyway.

Ouch, porkypine - I had that happened to me once; now I package my competition lots and keep them elsewhere on my pc. I also had a grungy problem somewhere; had to remove some folders for my game to work, unfortunately I could not pin down the specific culprit because of lazy filing. Strongs!

Hi PanAm. I don't think your parking in the back will work. It seems just as tight as mine is. There is not enough room for a car to get out around the two stone fences you have to demarcate the parking areas. There is an asphalt paint with lines in the game under the 3 dots (*misc floors). You can turn the asphalt tile with the < > keys.

...um..... I would put more bookcases around the large halls and seating to read the books.

I hope this is helpful

PanAm, your library is pretty, but some of the rooms seem a bit empty to me - and some of the walls. I would put comfy chairs in front of the fire place (for reading there when it is cold) and something in that corner on the third floor where the back stairs are.

Hi Phae (et all)
I should have my library reno up later today... my school still needs grungifying and photoing - which will take at least 2 days for me to accomplish.
AND, tomorrow (Thurs) is our big Christmas gathering/feast - so, I won't have a to work on anything tomorrow. I hope this timing will be acceptable?
Please?

PanAm, I agree with the others, it looks empty to me.

Cat, sounds fine. I don't want anyone missing out on their holiday plans because of our contest. Get them posted when you can.
