Ah, I had you tube blocked to avoid having to see it. That's easy to fix.

I'd like to keep it for at least a few more days. I fixed several roofs, added dining tables to houses that had nowhere to sit and eat, removed excess dining capacity when it caused a routing problem, rearranged some rooms, added some bathrooms, changed fixed stairs to modular, etc. The main thing that's left is to try to get the houses to match their pictures, if possible. It makes sense to me to try to get the occupied houses as close as we can before we start playing them.

I've finished all of the occupied houses except:
- The Anderson house has the wrong windows, and should probably have a multi-level deck.
- The Brooke house doesn't match the pictures in several places, but I'm not sure that it's fixable. There's a door in the kitchen (which leads to the bathroom), but the picture shows a window. There's a missing door in the bathroom, but that means that the bathroom requires an extra tile that can't be found within the existing footprint.
- The Marshall house needs a slight change in windows. One picture shows a bookshelf in the living room, but there's not enough room to fit it in. One picture seems to require a change to the kitchen layout. (See next post for suggested changes.)
- We might want to add some windows to the back and left side of the Roberts house, although it's not strictly necessary. (See attached pictures for suggested changes.)
- The Russell living room doesn't match the picture at all. A redesign of the house may be needed.

I've uploaded my latest and greatest, with pictures. See if you can spot the changes. Let me know if there are any problems.

Peni, if you want to grab it now, fine. If you can let me have it for a few more days, I'll try to work on the comparison with EA's pictures starting tomorrow. Since I haven't heard that you've grabbed the hood to start playing it, I'm going to start working on the above list now. I know that you're eager to start on it and I'm trying to get the occupied lots done as quickly as I can. Then, I'll be able to work on the unoccupied residential lots, community lots, and pictures while you've got the real version.

Here's my suggestion for the Roberts house. I've added some windows at the rear and left side of the house, and shortened the rug. Comments?

Here are the suggested changes to the Marshall residence. I've included EA's pictures of this house, along with a similar view of our interpretation, so that a comparison can be made.

Changes include new windows, rearrangement of furniture, new layout for kitchen.

Note that EA's pictures are inconsistent, so there are small discrepancies for some of the pictures.

All the fixes look good to me. With the pic Mootilda gave me and looking at the Russel house I can see it needs to be redone and I don't think I can do it at this time.
I went in and after starting to try I found my self drawing a blank on how to do it.

On EA pictures I have seen two sets that are different but I can no longer find the other set of pictures. One set was with the beta game and the other was with the Sims 2 game engine. A few of the beta pictures remain but not what is needed. I seen one picture that had 2 pizza boxes on the counter and having 2 extra counters on both side other than Thsms204 picture, Thsms204 had both on his site but most of the picture are no longer there.

I've been trying to match EA's pictures, rather than Thsms204's. I believe that all the tiny 400x300 pictures were in-game snapshots from Thsms204. True pictures from EA are larger, marked with a Sims 2 stamp in one corner (although sometimes over-stamped with GameSpot, Gamer's Hell, or another gaming site logo), and clearly made with a pre-release version of the game.

Most of the official pictures of the Anderson house are of the hot tub. Along with the two pictures that we've tried to match, I've attached one extra picture here. This one is much worse quality because it pretends to be a film strip, so each frame is quite small. It shows the black-framed windows, rather than the wood-framed windows that we can see in the full house view.

I noticed that the carpeting in the Anderson house is incorrect. If you look at the pictures, the floor covering is supposed to be shiny, which seems to indicate that it's not supposed to be carpeting. There's nothing in the base game that matches, but I'm thinking that it's supposed to be stained concrete or large marble tile flooring.

I've attached pictures of the latest version of this house, which was reworked to match the one picture of the outside of the house that we have from EA. I've included EA's pictures and our versions of those pictures. I also updated the neighborhood in the upload thread, with the latest three changes posted here.

Note that I didn't make changes to the front of the house, except where I could see differences in the pictures. That means that the back and right side of the house have lots of light wood windows and the front and left side have a few smaller black windows. There's some evidence for this, since EA's picture shows black windows surrounding the light wood door to the deck. I'd love to hear suggestions.

I can't find any evidence that this house requires a 1-tile wide bridge to the front door, or the 1-tile wide walkway to get to the middle floor. It might make sense to make these larger, to prevent routing problems, as long as that doesn't wreck the style of the house.

I'm leaving the two really difficult changes till the very end: the Brooke and Russell houses have some structural differences from the EA pictures. Let me see what I can come up with; I have some thoughts about how to fix them.

If anyone has pictures of Riverside from EA, please post them. The more official pictures and / or videos that we have, the better we'll be able to match EA's vision for this neighborhood.

Here's a suggestion for the Brooke house. As far as I can tell, the only differences between EA's pictures and our version of the house is that EA's version of the landscaping is much bumpier.

The parents have been moved into the nicest room and given a small private bathroom. The other bathroom is more obviously shared between the two girls. That entire side of the house had to be reduced in size to allow the additional window in the kitchen.

In general, I've been wondering whether we should try to grab the terrains from Thsms204. Here's an example of the difference. You'll see that Thsms204's version has terrain paints and additional terraforming which make the lot look more realistic.

When I first started the remake of this hood I made it just for me and I like flat lots. Then when it was done and I played it for awhile I thought maybe others would like it to.

In the Anderson house the pic show what looks like carpet style and yes I seen the lines in it but the green carpet match better than the green tile.

Also in the Anderson house the walls look to be yellow in color and your pic show some what like pink.

For me the green carpet is a better match and the yellow was better.

I like what you did with the Brooke house.

I don't remember changing the walls in the Anderson house. [Update: No, your latest version has Pueblo Rose and I didn't change it.] I'll fool around with the wallpapers to try to find something better. Let me know if you have a suggestion. What about "Sand Dune Stucco" or "Honey Pot Stucco" (see attached)? I think that Honey Pot matches pretty well. If you'd like, I can change the Pueblo Rose on the middle floor as well.

I'll change the carpet back. Is the Anderson house OK otherwise? It's a pretty drastic change, but matches the pictures more closely.

Some of the floors and wallpapers from the pictures just don't exist. For example, the Jefferson's kitchen is too pink, and the Molyneux kitchen needs more lilac. It's a shame, because the colors in the pictures tend to be more muted and often I like them better.

The mid one is the best match. Yes I think the 2nd floor needs it to.
For the life of me I don't remember changing it to that color.

I've updated the hood and pictures with everything that I've done to date.

The last house is the hardest, but hopefully I am only a day or two away from being able to hand this over to Peni.

[Update:] Here's a first attempt. No external changes and I tried to minimize the internal changes.

My main concern is the red living room leading into the teal hallway, which might be able to be solved by just removing the wall and arch and painting the hallway red. If that's too much red, most of the living room / dining room could be painted brown, with one red accent wall where the windows are.

Note that I've added another bedroom, so that we don't have to take the story in any particular direction. Personally, I'd prefer that the flirt between Trenton and Claire hadn't yet lead to sleeping together. This also allows Martha to be upset enough at Claire that they can't sleep together.

Comments gratefully accepted.

I don't know if I'm even allowed to chime in or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt too much if I did. I just wanted to ask if there was any reasoning why there are no doors leading into a bathroom except for through a bedroom? Just something I would be annoyed with if that were a real house, haha. Also, two wall lights on the same square? Isn't that a bit much? (In the hallway) Of course, there could be obvious reasoning for all of this, I wasn't around when TS2 was coming out and still don't know a whole lot.

I wish I had all 3 pic's when I made that house but I only had 2, good job on it and if you think it needs a different paint in the hallway then go for it. Most player redo the houses to there liking any way.

plyplay665, thanks for the comment. It's a good point. I'll make sure that there's a bathroom which is accessible to guests. I believe all of the rest of the occupied houses in the neighborhood have at least one bathroom accessible from a public space. [Verified.]

I'll experiment with the wall coverings a bit. The main reason that the teal is a concern is that you can actually see through the arch to the teal hallway from the front door... it's one of the first things that you see.

[Update:] Another attempt. I've tried to solve the problems discussed above.

Peni, I think that the occupied lots are complete now and this is a good time for you to grab the hood and start working on the story. While you're doing that, I can work on the unoccupied lots. Then, I can merge my changes into your version of the neighborhood at any time.

Got it, though I probably won't be able to start till tomorrow.

Mark, I'll be taking pictures during development so we can cherrypick a few for the storytelling folder if any come out well enough. Is there any objection to my sharing these on my tumblr or the picture thread here? I know Widespot got a boost in downloads and views from being talked about beforehand and I hope sharing photos would do the same for Riverside.

No objection what so ever you may do with this hood what you will. The more it gets out there the more people will want to play it.
Once this is done it could become the most downloaded hood here. I know I cant wait till it is finish.

ADD: Please add some links so we can all see them.

If it is good for you 2 then I don't mine any one to use this hood in any way other than putting it on pay sites.

Are you saying that you don't mind if people share it on multiple sites with the claim that they created it themselves?

Mark, I consider this to be your neighborhood. What you say goes. I'm just trying to help you get it into shape so that MTS will consider it.

No, they still need to give credit. Mootilda and Peni Griffin is also very big helpers on this hood and need the credit to.

yes to share it on there sites but no on the changes unless they get permission first. I don't want the hood to get out there with bad changes and it comes back here and complain about it.

OK, I think that I understand. We should try to word that well and then add that to The Riverside Group profile. Something like this:

"Feel free to share the neighborhood and lots on other non-pay sites, but be sure to credit The Riverside Group at MTS. Do not share on paysites, even if this download is free. Please do not make changes to the neighborhood and share those changes without getting our permission. Pictures and videos of the neighborhood can be shared freely."

Default Anderson
The Anderson Family: Marty has always been the hot-shot of the two Anderson brothers. Now, with two attractive new roommates, will Bernie finally break out of his shell and emerge from the shadow of his brother?

66 Main Street, 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, 4x4 lot, $116,078Marty and Bernie fell in love with this house as soon as they saw it. The WOW factor completely overwhelmed them, so that they forgot to check boring stuff like accessibility and number of bathrooms. So what if you have to go outside to go to bed? Besides, there's something to be said about sharing the bathroom with a couple of cuties!

Would people prefer to see full-length pictures of the sims to face close-ups? Obviously, we need both for the upload thread. But, which ones are more helpful for feedback?
