I want so badly to take the sprinklers out of my medeival households and let any fires do what they would've back then...but I just can't bring myself to risk the lives of any specific sim.

Somewhere on this site there is a great set of medieval fire alarms. I used to have them, but lost them in the great catastrophe of 2015 (sob). Naturally, a search indicated nothing. Guys, I put in medieval fire alarms, rune fire alarms, and just fire alarms, but got nothing. Anyone?

Money Trees - Yep, unplayable sims loved to steal from these - Now I got a reason for my criminal guy to kill someone dead - An orchard of these should do just fine.

Too true! When I was about eight I was an ardent supporter of capital punishment. I wanted the boys who broke the glass in the gaslamps in out local park hanged from the very lampposts that they'd vandalised! But I have mellowed a little today. Transport them to Australia instead! (A favourite British punishment in the early 19th century.) A long seaside holiday in New South Wales is sure to make them see the error of their ways! If I ever decide to do that to my recalcitrant Sims, there's an Australia terrain I could make into a sub-hood and send them to.

No I never kill Sims. I love them far too much. :lovestruc

Jo, when you recommended Dolphin's Control this Sim to me, it was something of a revelation. I realised that all Sims, including townies and NPCs, have got aspirations and fears. Maybe it's that word "aspiration" that does it for me. It's sort of a "high" word (erhaben in German). To say that someone has an aspiration seems close to saying that they have a soul. Despite all the glitches, I believe Maxis really excelled themselves when they created The Sims 2. The aim was life simulation, and to a remarkable degree they succeeded. Our Sims are just so very like ourselves. Each born-in-game Sim is a unique individual, starting with genetics inherited from his or her parents, and then with a character moulded further by his or her experience of life. Sims are just too much like real people for me to kill them or even seriously hurt them. I almost see my Sims as souls in my care. I look after them to the best of my ability, and in return they entertain me. And they do a wonderful job at that!

I can shed tears just thinking about my Sims dying! I no more want the Grim Reaper to come for them than I want him to come for me. Long may his ghostly form continue to stay out of my game!

Kill them? Never!

I've never seen that terrain before, cool.

Poor Andrew, I'm sure none of your sims will ever die. Myself, I have killed burglars, cows and a few others. I had a mafia legacy at one point with some lethal Tommy guns. My only proviso is the sim must a stinker and the death must be quick. Except one sim who was corrupt and crashed my old game, I was rather sad to do him in but I could not figure out anything else.

@AndrewGloria: Yes, 'erhaben' implies some sort of high-mindedness, which goes nicely with the word 'aspiration'
And I tend to get seriously attached to my sims as well - not only playables, townies and NPCs, too.

Random thought:
I wonder if it's common to have certain outfits or hairs that you just don't want any other sim to wear.
Last night, while visiting a community lot with one of my families, I spotted a bartender who had a hairstyle that I (kind of sub-consciously) reserved for one of my sims, hand-picked in CAS for her.
Needless to say that the barmaid got a makeover in a heartbeat.

My philosophy is let live and let die. I'd never kill off a sim, but when their time comes I'll let them go, and I don't turn aging off or anything like that.

And fiatlux, I'm like that too, especially with hairstyles.

Yes, some hairstyles are only for certain sims. It looks ridicilously strange to see them on some other sims, even CAS- or in-game-born-Sims.

After making the customizable chance of death by murphy bed, I can't help but picture a murphy bed murderer. A seemingly innocent "weak" appearing woman who lures in unsuspecting nice people, asking them to please help her as she is too weak to lower the bed and she's unable to get any sleep. Little do they know that the murphy bed is rigged and squashes anyone who tried to fold it down. The murphy bed Olive Specter, if you will

Is it bad that I imagined Mrs. Crumplebottom

I just added a new version of tuck in enabled, that allows the nanny to tuck in even if she's not related to the child. I wanted to mention it somewhere, since I imagine few people check regularly if things they downloaded have been updated, and I thought more people might like it Credits to Simonut who asked if nannies could tuck in, making me realize that version should exist.

Gcgb53191, it depends if your vision is Mrs. Crumblebottom as the 'squasher' instead of the 'squashee.

Conversely mine are hardly ever in pj's. They sleep in day clothes on the toddler rug and they change themselves into and out of pj's in a toddler bed.

I should really get that toddler rug hmm...also, how come there is no parenting site on the sim's computer? Did those things not exist when the game was being made?

On an unrelated topic though, does anyone else think that Skip Broke may have been killed in some connection to Dustin's job? I was playing recently and the promotion pop up mention a crime family (I forget the exact wording, but it was understood). A mysterious accident in the pool sounds like something you could read about a mafia doing...or maybe I've been watching too many movies

I thought it necessary to point out to @AndrewGloria that the Grim Reaper is a Sim as well

I thought I'd better check him out (not literally as in "Flirt . . . Check Sim Out"; I'll leave that to Olive Specter!). I used SimPE to look at him in Veronaville, where of course he's never made an appearance. Well, he has no aspiration and no star sign, but he does have interest. He's mainly interested in politics and the weather. And he's quite interested in his work, but his interest the paranormal is minimal. So he's clearly not into ghosts and such superstitious nonsense! He does like his food though. He has no LTW and no wants, but he does have 3 fears. He fears getting fat! Maybe that has something to do with liking food. Has anyone ever seen him eating? He's afraid that somebody irritates him. Well I could understand that some of the Sims he visits might not be too pleased to see him. And he's afraid of fire. Well I am good to him there -- I've got Squinge's No More Fires mod to protect him! I wonder if he ever has to escort a wicked Sim to the Nether Regions. There might still be quite a few fires down there! His personality is as bland as it could be: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5.

All in all, I think I'll still just leave him in peace, and hope it's a long, long time before I see him and his fearful scythe!

While I was at it, I had a look at Mrs. Crumplebottom. She has no star sign, but she has 10 neat points, 10 active points and 5 outgoing points. She has of course no nice points at all. She has a Family aspiration, and her wants are a revelation: she wants to talk to a Sim, to flirt with a Sim, to fall in love with a Sim and to marry him. As well as being afraid of fire and vermin, she is afraid of being rejected for her very first kiss! I guess she must indeed have been rejected for that kiss, and that was the start of all her hang-ups. That she has been messed up is obvious from her LTW -- she wants to eat 200 grilled cheese sandwiches!

I'm sorry @gummilutt that you have had to watch a great deal of violent death because I was too squeamish to risk seeing it once! I'm afraid that sometimes I can be quite selfish.
