Thanks Snappledude. I love being able to access the far reaches of the map. I do wish we could still zoom in closer however. Any way to fix that? I can move the camera all around, and go farther out, but it won't let me see any houses up close. They all look teensy.

Thanks again.

Thank you: foreverjadon, Snappledude, and anyone else who works on this file

By the way, you do need a wheel mouse to be able to zoom in and out...
Here you go more zoom out more zoom in and more tilt screen....

where exactly do you put this file? I have read 2 different things.

1: put in C:/Program Files/EA Games/TS Data/Res/UserData/Cameras

2: put in "my Documents/Ea games/the sims 2/cameras

Are these 2 different files I'm reading about?

Finally! One that works beyond my wildest dreams!

Maree464: put in "My Documents/Ea games/the sims 2/cameras - I too noticed that someone said the other - ??

I have tried foreverjardon - that lost all close viewing within 10,000ft. I then downloaded both of yours - 6/19 and 7/1 - compared all 4 - origin, foreverjardon, and both yours - 7/1 won out(which I did notice was extremely close to foreverjardon, compared to the other)....

It's fantastic! Have 70 ft to 30,000 feet, and love the "tilt screen". Thank you for this getting perfect!

Because when I downloaded ziggybec2005's file and tried to put it into the cameras folder, everything there was a readme, and when I try to download foreverjadon's, it won't install and a weird page pops up (like I said in one of my earlier posts, it looks like something from notepad)

They are not read me files, they are configuration files in text form.
Back up your copy of neighborhood.txt - and replace with the downloaded one.
That's it Done, run the Game...............
You Must Have A Wheel Mouse to tilt and zoom in and out.........

And thanks to Foreverjadon & Snappledude

My hoods are also all blue with this camera and i have a wheel mouse, no matter where I pan or zoom, blue, blue, and blue. This would be great if i could get it to work.

Ok nix my previous post. For all users that are seeing blue, back-up the original neighborhood camera file and then paste all text from this hack into the maxis neighborhood camera file in the cameras folder. Make sure it replaces all the maxis created text. Good luck

i love this new camera angle view, i downloaded it awhile ago, but i'm having a problem (dont know if i should ask this here or in another place, but i'll start here). It works wonderfully except that when i zoom out my oceans start to take over the neighborhood views and it looks like the roads and houses placed near the water are IN the water, is there anything i can do or does this seem like a graphics problem. Any help is appreciated (and please let me know if this thread doesnt belong here).

So nice
ok I got it in the game. It looked great! Only one problem I ran into. When I tried to make a family, the background was nothing but a blue screen. I have university. Did anyone else have this happen? I really would like to have this file so help please!!!

bubbles i had the same problem, i updated the text to the file on this page by ziggybec and the camera angles were awesome, and the problem i was having with my oceans taking over the land also quit, but when i try to make a new family the screen is all blue. Until someone comes up with a solution i guess i'll just put the original file back in when creating a family and then switch back to the hacked file when i'm using the neighborhood view more. But good work on the camera, the neighborhood views are great.

Great idea!
birdi18 Thanks for the idea. Good one. I really didn't want to give up the great neighborhood view but thought I had done something wrong. It's awsome to be able to see it all and work with it all. Am going to try this new file and see what happens.

This is great! T'was annoying not to be able to access the outer edges of the neighborhoods, or to even see them. Thanks muchly!

Hey! To everyone who is still having trouble with trying to get this hack to work I think I know the answer! You see I was getting a black screen with my neighbourhoods and was getting really frustrated! But then I thought go back and compare what you saved it as to the ones you hadn't touched and sure enough I had saved mine as "Neighbourhood Camera" when all the others were like "FirstPersonCamera". They didn't have any spaces in! So I did the process again but rectifying the problem and tada! It worked! So try this if your still stuck!

:gidea:

And for those people who want the original camera code here it is;

# Camera configuration file for the Neighborhood screen.
# See cameras.txt for a description of syntax.

camera "Neighborhood" Neighborhood

zoom 1 (650 450 230)
fov (33 33 33)
clip (10 10 10) (2000 2000 2000)
pitch (40 32 25) (40 32 25)

orientation 0 (0 45 90 135 180 225 270 315)

smoothing 5 8
wheel 5

constrain .35 .35 .35 .35

setparam defaultminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardrotationspeed 15
setparam keyboardrotationlerpsteps 2
setparam keyboardrotationlerpminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardtranslationspeed 50
setparam keyboardtranslationlerpsteps 5
setparam keyboardtranslationlerpminchange 0.5

setparam keyboardzoomspeed 1
setparam keyboardzoomlerpsteps 1
setparam keyboardzoomlerpminchange 1
setparam keyboardzoomscale 3

Hope I helped you! :howdy:

PS. Thankyou so much for this it is so great! :D
