@xXxDayDreamerxXx: Which family is this for? You didn't list that on your round one entry. I was just wondering. I am assuming it's the Mason family, but of course I could be wrong. If it is the Mason family, they have a 50,000 budget, so you can add more and do more. :D

I need to hunt up a tutorial on making neat looking swimming pools like yours HL! I've tried making my own, but it all ends up weird. I'm having a blast with this challenge, and I definitely will stick around for the others. I'm very curious if you do a contest with Strangetown because there's very little there, and the ones that are there are kind of awkward. Veronaville will also be a huge challenge as I've never been in any of those houses. I opened it once, but it lagged a lot so I took out of there before my game could get mad at me.

HugeLunatic, thank you! I saw those in my travels and didn't realize the set wasn't just in red.

I have over 11,000 left, so I think I am going to add something and tweak it a bit. My strong suit is creating sims, but I really love this too!

I don't know how you both have so much money left over, I went to 45 thousand so easily and had to rein it all back in with cheaper cc.

It may be the price of CC. Some of my CC costs nothing and some costs an arm and a leg. I still have a bit over $11,000 to use, but it is a small space so I may leave it as is. I'm not sure yet. Each creator chooses how much the CC will cost in game. I know you know that, but I really think it's a matter of CC cost.

Lucia, I agree. A lot of my CC is like 100 simoleons when it should be closer to the 300-500 range haha. That being said, I had a very hard time keeping within budget. When I first decorated the house, I was over by 20,000.
Everyone's entries look really good! It's interesting to see how differently we all chose to use the space.

I saw this too late to enter, but I have been doing a follow along at home and since I don't have to abide by any rules, I've moved the stairs! and... so far, am hitting the 23 thousand range, and I haven't done the upstairs or the outside. This has been fun! Thanks for this.

Absolutely!! When I did the application round, I was over by 40,000 and had to back up the pony. lol I search all the time for CC that is cheap in game. My daughter-in-law also makes a lot of my cc. So, it's really the cc and what it costs to use in game. I found that sometimes it's cheaper to use Maxis stuff then my own cc if it's up in price in game. My cc runs anywhere from 0 to thousands. I choose what is cheapest and is in the theme I want for the home.

Glad you are still enjoying playing along, Sim of Something! Keep an eye out, I plan on doing 2 more cycles of this contest, one for Strangetown and one for Veronaville Maybe you can get into one of those. They probably wont be till the beginning of next year though, after the holidays

I placed a nice wooden filing cabinet in his office and realized it cost $5000! So I had to replace it with those game Ikea little box draw things. Not even sure what they are...
Then I saved some by using very cheap cc in the bathroom, but I still hadn't finished decorating, just the lack of money made me stop.

I separate my cc by price and function. I sometimes am so excited when doing a home I forget to look at the price and the budget is hard in this contest even with low cost or free CC. As I said earlier, I was $40,000 over budget in the application round. I hated having to tear it up and place in cheaper items because it killed my vision for my home. Most of my sims are rich and I don't have to look at the price, but for the ones who arn't, I have to be careful. This is my first contest ever on MTS and for the sims. I may run into more money issues down the line and wish I could roll this amount left over to the new round, but it will be as it will be and I will probably go right off the sims 2 cliff with my ideas and decorating costs.

With my application round I solved the problem of going over budget by using cheap cc or cheap maxis items recoloured through most of the house. I didn't even look at the back of the catalogue as it gets more expensive as it goes along. So I simply chose the first child's cc bed and tried not to look at what I would have liked to have placed. This time I was going more to a vision-and that's when it runs over. Of course $5000 for a wooden filing cabinet is somewhat ridiculous but it's the only one I have. Anyone else know some other cc filing cabinets?

You can find some here http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=303300
and there are recolors for the set here: http://www.modthesims.info/download...13&goto=newpost
On the second post go down to download and it takes you to the recolors.
You may not like the set but this is what I found for you quickly. I made my first cosmetics tonight and am working on them and clothes. I can use PSP7 and super blade pro to recolor and I have read many tutorials so I hope my modding is going to be good. If you need any other help, just post and I will help you search.

I personally can't stand CC that's priced incorrectly. Anything that only cost $100 when a comparable Maxis item is in the $800s or more either is getting deleted, or if I like it enough, I reprice it myself. I feel like that's just as bad as a game mod that lets you cheat. :\
Arg, it's killing me that I can't just fire up my game and whip out my house. I know exactly what I want to do, but I'm not leaving here for another day or two at least. And all these links to beautiful CC that I didn't know about? And I can't even download it cuz I'm on the wrong computer. Talk about torture.

Thanks Lucia that cabinet would have been good. I grabbed the files.
I agree, except in a contest with a budget like this cheap items come in very handy.
My main gripe with cheap items are the ones that somehow go up in price if sold later. I have a change table that only costs $10 yet sells some days later at $160. The game had that with the dream catchers so I always avoided them for that reason. Too easy a way to make cash.

I am just a beginner with TS2. I have learned little by little. I have not learned SimPE yet like others have. I am just beginning to make clothes and cosmetics. I have been playing the game almost a year. So much I don't know. I am sorry you are not here to download the CC, but the links will be up when you get back. I hope that Jo finds the filing cabinet set and recolors I found here on MTS. I'm good at searching and finding, but to be honest, I didn't know what CC was until my daughter-in-law began modding. Have a safe trip back.
@joandsarah77, I am so glad you got it! DId you follow the link the the lovely recolors?? There were a few other nice things there too. Glad you found it!!!

Lucia you are already doing better than I am at cc making, I've only ever recoloured clothes for my own game and I’ve been playing Sims 2 since it first came out and Sims 1 before that. I'm just a lot builder.

See, I am good at sims and such but building a lot??? Not my cup of tea. I still make square houses for crying out loud. lol I guess we all have our gifts. I can't put a roof on right to save my life. So, I am reading tuts and hoping for the best.

Hee, well there you go; I am lousy at making sims! I roll a face template in CAS and tweak it a bit- voila a sim!

When I first started playing, making sims was all I wanted to do. I was obsessed with it. I even learned how to make them Elvin without them being butt ugly. lol So, I have been doing it from my beginning in TS2 and not much more until tonight. I love all of the homes all of you build and don't think I haven't looked. Like I said, mine are square, classy but really square. lol

Application Feedback!
Finally! We all have your feedback for you! We judges are not numbered in the order we're listed in the main post, but we will be the same number throughout the contest. Lipe2k
Judge 1:Very nice looking house. Pat yourself on the back for this makeover. The exterior is charming and cozy. Plus, it works well with the house shape. A small critique I have is that I don’t like the plant bed arrangement. It looks too geometric against this awkwardly rectangle house. Really great use of coordinating and repeating colors throughout the house. Nice layout and room design. I particularly like the living room and the way you shaped the kitchen floor. You also used the same style throughout the house, which is great. The one real area for improvement is the bathroom. It’s a fairly nice bathroom, however I think it’s a little too green (The monochromatic look can be an interesting choice, but it doesn’t quite work here.) It’s also a little too modern for the rest of the house. I’m also concerned about the tables near the bed in the master bedroom. I don’t know if they are tables or dressers, which would block the bed. Finally, I really love the patio. It looks very homey.
Judge 2:I love that your house has a coherent "vibe" to all the rooms. IMHO, it's kind of beachy/costal feeling I love the color palate you chose. It looks cozy and very much like a home not just a house. A little to much solid blue in the kid's room for my taste, but not awful. Your landscaping is very nice and not over done. Your pics are well done.
Judge 3:The foliage is lovely and the patio area is wonderful. I like the clean, fresh look inside and the added but not OTT decorative 'clutter'. There's clearly defined living areas with nice clear paths though the house without being too sparse. The kids room is a bit too blue, but if the kid likes blue...lol The green in the bathroom is a bit of a shock to the system after so much blue throughout the rest of the house, but quite nicely balanced once over the change. Great photos and angles!

Judge 1:This is a very nice entry. Very nice exterior. I think you've worked with the difficulties of the outside of this house really well. I like how you put a more decorative siding on the front, but just the front of the two-story section of the house. This sets the tall section apart, but also softens the transition between the two sections. I also really like the windows you've used on this house and the color combination is quite striking. The landscaping is also really nice. The large flowerbed in front works well on this house. The interior is pretty good, but I think there is some room for improvement. The bathroom is very nice. I especially like the use of the half wall to separate the tub. The kids room is also nice. However, the kitchen and dining room are a little barren. The kitchen, in particular, looks very empty. I like the color combination in your living room.
Judge 2: A lovely house. My favorite rooms are the bathroom and the master bedroom. I love the little touches you made with terrain paint, i.e. the slight dirt at the corners of the house. It's a very welcoming home My only slight "con" amongst all the "pros" is purely a matter of personal taste, and I wouldn't dock you for it, but I feel there is a bit of a lack of pattern. Again personal taste, and I'm not suggesting a riot of patterns, just maybe if the furnishings are solid color, a simple stripe on the wall or something. Nice landscaping. Your pics are nice and big and well taken.
Judge 3: Beautiful, natural looking foliage, really like that Not so keen on the color of the outside walls, but I do like the use of different type of wall covering. The windows suit the outside very nicely. I like that the bathroom is still spacious, even with all the plumbing included. The bathroom tiles are one of my favourite from Maxis. The grey walls are a bit cold - perhaps some larger wall hangings would break it up more? But is nice that the kitchen/dining/lounge areas all match. Really like the master bedroom - very warm and snug looking A bright and airy kids room, not sure white is the best color for such a room, but the surfing poster does break it up a bit. The budget issue was already covered, so look forward to how you do with the rounds now you understand that it's meant to be total cost

Judge 1: This is a really interesting redecoration. I like your use of bright colors. I particularly like the kitchen. The bright yellow and red could easily be garish in a kitchen, but it really works here. I also like the color combination in the living room and bathroom. The bathroom layout is very nice. I like the half wall you've picked to separate the toilet. It goes very well. One issue is that I think that the front of the house doesn't quite work. You have a good idea here, but the two sidings don’t really go together and they don’t work on this house. The master bedroom is also a little bright. I like the layout of the living room. Unlike some of the other entries, you've kept several tiles free in the entry of the house, which is great since sims won’t pile up and get stuck as easily in the small living room. The wrap around walk way is also really nice.
Judge 2: A very vibrant house! You've used the color well, though. It's not a raucous of bright conflicting color or patterns It all plays very well together. You had a good idea with the mixed siding, but these two don't work as well. I think it's because they don't have any "edge" to separate them. Landscaping is nice, and I love that you threw in the swing for the kiddo as well (I did that in my play along house, too) I shouldn't be surprised that you threw in the swing as your kid's room is my favorite room of the house! So cute and fun. Your choice of half wall in the bathroom seems a bit off for me. Wouldn't dock you for it, but I think the style is a little conflicting with such a bright, and IMHO somewhat contemporary, design. It just seems a little too classic or "country".
Judge 3:I like the flowers and shrubs, but not sure about how the two tone works on the front - it does work a bit better on the back though Nice patio area, but looking slightly empty. The kitchen counters matching the lounge area...not sure that works well :/ I love that the kids room is bright and full of color, I feel you had a young child in mind? And quite the young sim artist! The color scheme in the master bedroom isn't too my taste but it does look smart. Some wall hangings would be nice. Some lovely little decorative touches throughout though.

Judge 1: Great job decorating the interior. The house looks airy and cozy and has a specific style though out the house. I particularly like the dining room and master bedroom. Also, you picked a great window for the dining room. One major problem though, there is no living room. This would be a major deduction. The outside of the house is nice. However, I think that the exterior of the house is a little plain. I really like the color on this house and love the birdbath and swing—these are both nice little touches to the yard and give the house personality.
Judge 2: I love the soft color palate you used through out the house, excepting the kids room, which is to be expected. Makes me think of some small province in France or something. The furniture in the kid's room is almost too conflicting for me. Seems kind of random. I realize that often kid's rooms are random (my own children have a very random room, lol) , it's just with the gypsy end tables, plain pine bed and lockers it feels odd to me. Also, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of a living room. I see the (very cute) bench/couch and a coat rack. Probably could have atleast thrown in a bookcase I don't always give my sims a TV so I see no issue with that, just feel there should have been a little something more, living room-wise.
Judge 3: It might have been nice to break the color of the outside walls a bit. Just using daisies is a little unimaginative, mix the flowers up a bit! But I do like what can be seen of the back garden - would have been good to see more The lounge area seems very sparse but the kitchen/dining part is warm and inviting. Not sure if the wardrobe and end tables fit in the kids room but I do like the choice of wall hangings. The master bedroom is light, airy with a bit of a cottage feel about it.

Judge 1: Great idea to add a fireplace to the unusable space. It’s a creative solution to one of the major problems of the house. I also like that the furniture looks inexpensive. Since the house is small, it makes sense that the family wouldn't be able to afford a lot of nice furniture. I like the outside of the house, but I think that it is somewhat plain looking. There isn't anything to distinguish this house. Some of the interior rooms are a little plain as well. However, the two bedrooms are very nice. Also, the placement of the trees is great. They look very natural.
Judge 2: First thing that stands out for me, is that I love the "desk nook" in the dining area Very nice. Although it bothers me a bit that the chair at the desk is brown and the ones at the table are white, as they are so close. Probably wouldn't dock you for it though I also love the pops of bright, fun patterns here and there. I think the tattoo art above the bed is a little strange, but that's a personal taste thing.
Judge 3: The outside walls are very similar to the original and there's not much foliage like others, but sandpit and swing is a nice addition and the trees break the space up a bit I like that you have managed to add a small study area, but the 3 bookcases are a little unnecessary. If you were aiming for a wall of books, there is a better bookcase to use for that, but it is expensive... The splash of color in the kitchen is good, but the walls/floor throughout the living area seem to be lacking some 'oompf'. The kids room is nice, but is the easel accessible? In the master bedroom the plain, light walls are balanced by the dark furniture and bright fabrics Try to zoom out slightly more in the room pics, to give a better view

Judge 1: The window in front is a really interesting choice. It’s really striking and makes your entry standout from the other houses. However, I don’t think it quite works on this house. I not sure if that means that it should be removed, changed to something similar but less extreme, or if the rest of the exterior needs to be changed to match it. I love the flowers in the front of the house and the fencing. However, I think the blue plants should be placed in a more natural looking pattern. The waterfall is a great piece of CC, but I think it looks out of place on this house. I love the bed in the master bedroom.
Judge 2: I like that you have kept a continuous style and color scheme through out the house. You have used some very nice CC I think the rose window is a bit much for a small house, though it's very nice. I think the rock/waterfall is a bit much for a small home also. Try to keep the walls up when you take your pics. Just keep playing around with cameraman mode, you'll get the feel for it
Judge 3:Some variety in the shrubs would be preferred and I'm personally not keen on the new window - but the color from the plants works well with the plain walls. It's quite a modern decorating style with the shapes and colors used for the majority of it - the window in the kitchen looks a little out of place with that though. I like the red and the pictures in the master bedroom, but the pictures seem to blend into the walls too much. With the kids room, a child was stated so I expected a bed rather than a cot. It's nice and bright from what I can see - having the walls up is important so we can see how that room's walls are decorated, rather than through to what you've already shown

Judge 1: Really great job redecorating this house. You’ve managed to turn a more traditional house into a modern looking one without any problems. The exterior is interesting and well balanced, which is very hard to do on this house. The brick on the ends of the house softens the awkward shape of the house and the windows really open the house up. I also love the landscaping. The interior is very nice though out. The furniture looks great where you’ve placed it and it matches well. The color scheme is very nice. I especially like the bathroom. I think the only issue with this house is that you’ve placed almost all of the furniture towards the back of the main area. This will give sims a lot of room to meet guests when they enter the house. However, it will cause traffic jams for sims when they use the dining room, living room and kitchen and these areas will attract a lot of sims at the same time. Great shot of the patio.
Judge 2: I love your house. It feels very "loft-like" or like a New York condo or something I love the mix of brick and paint inside and out. You've used some very nice CC as well. The entire house is very consistent. You take wonderful pics. They really showcase your work.
Judge 3: I like the paint with brick. Nice to see some different plants to what others have used, there's not many but it works. The trees fill the vast outdoor space well. Inside, again I like the paint with brick and it's very light and airy, but maybe a little too light? Some nice subtle clutter used. Lovely bathroom, but I don't feel the doors work with the wall tiles. Master bedroom has the right balance of color. Would have been nice to see the kids room.

Judge 1: This house has a lot of great details and I love the change in the floor plan. I like how you’ve placed several objects at an angle though out the house. And, details like the teddy bear on the bed are great. I also love the small strip of flowerbed at the end of the patio. I think sim routing will work well in this house—great idea to move the kitchen to the back of the house. One problem though, the exterior of this house is nice, but it could use some work. It’s a bit plain and doesn’t work well with the house. I also think that many of the rooms could use a bit more pop. The living room is quite nice. Finally, it’s great that the interior of this house looks completely finished. Since the budget is small, this is hard to do.
Judge 2: Very beautiful. Good thinking switching the kitchen Also I'm a sucker for mixing brick or stone walls with paint in the interior. I love the rug in the living room. Your pics are well done and show off your designing well
Judge 3: I like the mix of wall coverings you have used on the outside and the flower borders add a nice splash of color, but some variety in height would have been good. The way you have fenced off the large expanse of garden from the front view - it makes your house stand out from the others. It's a nice simple patio at the back and I like that the borders have continued to be used at the back of the property. I like the inside with the bold color in the furnishings offsetting the very plain walls and that you've kept some exposed brick. I love the colors in the master bedroom, very bright and fresh and the bathroom is lovely, but the kids room hurts my eyes a bit - I love that it's full of vibrant color, but not liking the red with orange or the mix of blues. I do love the decorative 'clutter' you've used and the blackboard in the kitchen is great!

Judge 1: This house has an interesting floor plan. Good idea to move the kitchen to the back. I think this will help sims move around the small house. It’s also interesting that the couch is placed with the back towards the door. This might really help when sims are walking into the house, although the single row of tiles might also make entering the house difficult. I think that the decorating scheme on this house is good, but could also use a bit of improvement. I like the use of green, gold and white though out the house and would like to see this color scheme developed a bit more. The landscaping is pretty good. I especially like the small fenced area. It’s very quaint looking and cute. I think a different window would look better on this house. The house has a fairly seventies décor style, which is consistent though out the house. I like the shot of the kitchen. It’s a very dramatic angle.
Judge 2: Nice continuous style throughout the house I like that you thought to switch the kitchen and dining ares. I love the collection of snapshots wall hanging! It makes it feel more like a home than just a house. Your individual pics are a little high, try playing around with cameraman mode a bit
Judge 3: The outside walls seem a little plain all one color and without a visible texture. The sunflowers on the left would have been better placed beside the windows rather than covering them...like in front of the large window The walls on the inside appear to be the same color as out? And there's only a couple of wall hangings? However the ones you've used do work well and the kitchen counters break the color up a bit. Would be a slight pain for a tired sim coming home from work to walk all the way round the sofas before being able to sit on them. And it looks a bit tight for space by the kitchen door? The lights over the sink in the bathroom are rather OTT but I like the half wall use, it's different The master bedroom is free of the green, but would benefit from a larger wall hanging. I'm thinking the kid that lives here is very sporty!

Judge 1: Good job creating a decorating theme. The house has a consistent rustic look though out. I also really love your addition of the fireplace. It’s a creative use of a strange space and the one you chose goes really well with the style of the house and is very dramatic. The bedrooms are really nicely decorated. I especially like the repeating pattern of the rug and bedspread in the master bedroom and the arrangement of the clutter in the kids room. I think the rest of the decorating is nice, but it could be improved a bit. The kitchen in particular looks a bit boring. While I do like the look of the rustic windows you selected, the front of the house could be a bit more interesting. I really like the water pump in the front. It adds a lot of charm. Also, I love how lived-in the living room looks.
Judge 2: A wonderful, homey house. I'm a huge fan of the "comfy" furniture from FT You've used a nice mix of CC and EAxis content. Very consistant feel to the whole house, including the kid's room, which isn't always the same feel. Still a lil scared of the toilet paper holder, but it certainly wouldn't lose you any points (just may give me nightmares, lol).
Judge 3: Horrible. Just nasty, absolutely disgustingly atrocious! But that's just the terrifying loo roll holder Teasing aside, I'm not so keen on the dark paper, but that's just personal taste, it goes well with the sofas. However, the fireplace design looks a little out of place with them, might be the lighting though as it seems to go well where you can see it in the dining area pic. The rug doesn't go too great with the cheque pattern on the sofas...but nicely with the fireplace. It's just those little bits that bug me, I like the overall appearance. And the decorative 'clutter' is great. The bathroom is very light and airy and clean looking. And has a creepy...yeah covered that. I love the master bedroom - it looks cosy! The kids toys are lovely, but something on the wall would have been great if there'd been some spare cash!

Judge 1: The closet in the living room is creative and a good use of the walled-off space. I really like the kids room and the bathroom. The three mirrors in the bathroom are particularly interesting looking. You've also managed to get a lot of interesting objects into these rooms without blocking all the tiles. (I see you've even added a dartboard in the kids room.) I like the exterior of the house. It looks like a house I could see in real life. However, I think that it looks a bit plain. I also think that the house would benefit from a bit more unity in its style. For example, the doors don’t go with the rest of the style of the architecture. The backyard is very cute. I especially like the swing. I also like the creative use of the coffee table in the dining room.
Judge 2: Very nice house. I love your use of two staggered square coffee tables instead on one rectangular one. Also love the added swing set for the kiddo Nice thinking using that weird space for a closet (not sure if I would count that as an added door though, but as there are no other weird little spaces in any of the upcoming homes, it wont be an issue)
Judge 3: I like the fenced in garden with it's lush green grass and the trees, it seems to balance the white/grey of the house. Inside, some more color in the living areas would have been nice but I do like the 'clutter' on the coffee table in the dining part. The kids room is very dark with mis-matchy furniture. The bathroom is nice and bright - I like! But be careful of the direction of the bath...that wouldn't be usable like that, they need to be able to stand by the taps!

Judge 1: I see you wrote you’re still working on your decorating skill—I’m glad you decided to join this contest even if you feel that you’re still new at this. One issue that is small, but can cause a lot of problems, is that the pictures on this entry are really tiny, which makes it hard for me to see everything clearly. For example, I really want to know what you put in the walled-off area (some kind of planter?) but I can’t quite tell. Also, make sure to get all of the floor plan in the top view. The living room is partially cut off in your picture. This house has an open floor plan, which allows for sims to move easily around the house. This is hard to achieve in a house this small. I also like that you worked on little details like the wall decorations. I think that one thing that can make a huge difference in decorating is to pay attention to the colors you use. The colors in this house are a little drab and all the rooms tend to be one color. A simple tip to improve the color scheme is to vary three different colors throughout a room. Another tip that might help you with your building is to try a ton of different sidings on the house. Sometimes you have to experiment a lot to find the right one. Using a table as a t.v. stand was very creative.
Judge 2: Nice house. I particularly like the Brats room, it reminds me of my little sister's room when she was younger I like how you even placed a radiator in the bathroom for a bit more realism (I mean, really, who wants to get out of the nice warm shower into a cold bathroom!) Try to take pics with the walls up, play around with cameraman mode.
Judge 3: Would have been nice to have the full house in view for the top-down pic and can't comment much on the outside as it's zoomed out a bit too much - don't need to see the road! lol Bathroom is nice, though I thought the bath mats were puddles at first lol In the dining area, I wonder if a lighter rug may have worked better but I like the yellow on the seats tying in with the yellow on the kitchen counters. I'm personally not keen on such dark flooring with such light walls, but I do like your choice of wall hanging and the pots The master bedroom doesn't have quite as much of a contrast and the wallpaper has a pattern to add interest. Try to avoid placing a bed with such a high headboard up against windows though, you wouldn't do so in real life as it would block the light Very girly kids room! Was a nice change from the ones posted before yours

Judge 1: The pictures of the interior are all overhead shots and the exterior one has a very high angle. This makes it really hard to judge the house. I like the siding on this house. The vertical lines give the house height, which I think works well on this house. It’s very hard to judge the interior of the house, but it looks as though it could use a bit more work. The little backyard is cute. The angled fence is both cute and creative.
Judge 2: A very nice house. Love that you added a swing for the kiddo. Nice consistant theme and color scheme. Smart of you to move the kitchen. Your pics of individual rooms should be lower and more "in the room". Play around with cameraman mode some. But they are big and clear
Judge 3: I can see why you gave it that name! I'd have preferred if the blue had been used more sparingly though, as a feature rather than on the whole building. There's a nice mix of colors in the flower borders but a mix of height as well may have provided a more creative look. The extra pics would have been nicer if they weren't all top-down so play around with the cameraman mode to showcase your work better I like the more subtle use of blue in the master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and that the boy racer room is complete with a racetrack! You don't seem to have left anything major out, but a little clutter on the kitchen counters and other decorative items would have been great.

Judge 1: The floor plan of this house is very open. I especially like that you’ve placed the coffee table to the side of the door. This allows you to have a coffee table, without blocking the entry. This house also has a consistent modern style though out, which is nice. I particularly like the color scheme in the nursery. The bright pink with black goes really well together. The wall length pictures in the master bedroom are a good choice; they are interesting and go well with the style of the house. While I like the way the brick and stucco sidings go together, I think the exterior of the house could be improved a bit. It is a bit plain and the placement of the sidings accentuates the awkward shape of the house. I also think the interior looks a bit empty. I like that you’ve placed a bordered the patio with a floor bed and the telescope is a nice touch.
Judge 2: Lovely house. Nice consistent style throughout. Swapping the kitchen was smart I really love the bathroom. Your pics are nice and big, good job.
Judge 3: I like that you've tried the two tone, but it seems to be lacking something...might be that the colors you used are too pastel, they lack a punch, which isn't helped with the lack of landscaping. Inside is rather beige and empty feeling. The dining room chairs and curtains add some needed color, but the dark floor looks out of place with such lighter ones either side, though it does clearly define the different areas. A modern looking Ikea bedroom - not to my personal taste but it does look smart - I like that the rug mirrors the wall hanging! Nice girly kids room, light and airy with matching furniture, but it's lacking something decorative other than the wall scribble (naughty sim child! lol) Nice curtains though I LOVE the bathroom, my favorite room by far!

Judge 1: I love the siding on this house. The green siding is very creative and makes the house stand out. The contrast between the sideways and vertical siding is also interesting. Plus, I like that the bright green siding is going in the more traditional direction. At the same time, you didn’t go overboard and make the exterior too loud, which can be hard to do. The landscaping is nice, but I think that it could be better. I would like to see it at the level of the rest of the exterior of the house. I really like the repeating decorating themes in the house. For example, the repetition of the pattern on the wall and couch in the living room looks great and the ship wheel on the wall of the kids room matches the whale wallpaper and round window really well. The bathroom looks very nice. I especially like the use of the dividing wall. However, I think that the interior could use a bit more consistency of style. I think this a really nice house that could be a really great house with just a bit more effort.
Judge 2: Very nice house I love the living room and the kid's room! You used some very nice CC. The master bedroom feels a little bare to me. No decoartions, compared to the nice sprinkling of them in the rest of the house. Your pics are nice and big and show the house well.
Judge 3:I like the mix of vertical and horizontal siding and green with (off)white, and how the color of the flowers ties the green in, stopping it from looking too out of place. A bit more landscaping would have been nice though. Really love the lounge decor! It has the right amount of pattern to plain and the colors are warm The 3 wallpapers in the living areas work well together but I'm not sure the wall hanging you chose for the dining room does. I'm not keen on the blue with the green in the bathroom, white floor tiles may have been a better choice. The master bedroom would benefit from some wall hangings and the residents would maybe appreciate a wardrobe The kids room is lovely - I like that you've picked the red out of the paper for some bits, but wonder if a red bedspread would also have been nice?

Judge 1: I really like the bathroom in this house. It’s interesting looking, everything in it goes together well and it is very creative. I especially like that you’ve used different kinds of floors—it adds a nice interest to the room. The kids room is also nice. I like how the fish decorations match the bubble wallpaper. I think that one thing that could be improved is the exterior of the house. It doesn’t look like a house I could see in the real world and it’s a bit drab. I also think that the interior would look a bit better if the style of the furniture was a bit more consistent. You’ve taken really good pictures, they get all the details and make the small house look very open. I like the tree in the backyard.
Judge 2: Nice house I love the bathroom and the big picture above the couch! Those are some of my favorite cushions for the Annie sofa, too. The top down pic is a little blurry. Not sure why because the rest aren't O.o
Judge 3: The wood and stone mix don't do it for me, but I like the vertical/horizontal mix with the wood. There's really not much landscaping is there? The top-down pic is a bit too small/zoomed out. Inside - I like how you created 'rugs' and the stone kitchen. There's some bold use of color which I think works well in the lounge, but not so sure about the dining area. I love the blue brick/tiles in the bathroom, but not keen on the fish floor and I would have preferred the whole floor to be tiled. A nice spacious layout. I've never been fond of the wallpaper in the kids room and not sure it goes with the fishy theme, but again I like the rug In the master bedroom, the wall color and rug area don't really go and I'm not sure if either go with the black and white bed/shelving - but I love that you've attempted a feature wall. I look forward to seeing a more cluttered look in the rounds if you can fit it in the budget :D

Judge 1 : How did you managed to meet the price exactly—I’m deeply amused by your expertise in budgeting. Very creative use of a half wall for decorating purposes. I love how it looks in the pictures of the kitchen and living room—it adds a lot of architectural interest. I also really like some of the details in this house. For example, the decorations in the bedroom are very nice. The floor plan of the house is open, which will make for efficient sim routing. This is hard to do in a house this small. I think there will be one problem with the routing though, the half wall has only a one-tile space in it. I’m torn about the front of the house. It looks bright, fun and interesting, but I think it could be improved a bit. I think if there were a bit more variety in the exterior the house would look better. One small thing that can make a lot of difference is to take pictures from farther back. It is hard to judge the interior of this house, since the pictures are so close up. I think the interior of the house could use more details. It looks a little empty. I love the window you’ve used in the dining room and how you’ve tucked the dining table against the wall. It’s very cozy looking.
Judge 2: Nice house. You really added some space to the living room by moving the kitchen and making it an eat-in I love the kid's room, although I think maybe I'd have preferred a different carpet. The walls are down in the top view, I'd prefer them to be up so we can see the wallpaper and any decor you may lose with them down. The outside is a little too red for me, with the red walls, patio and fence, maybe break it up a little next time
Judge 3: Very red!! I like red, but there may be a bit much here... I like the little flower beds, they help to break it up a bit. There seems to be a lot of empty space in the top-down pic, but your extra pics hide it well and show off the decor beautifully. I love that it's not ALL red inside as well but still has some red features. The stripes in the kids room are fab but can't tell if they go all the way round - may be a bit much if they do. I like the master bedroom, and the small glimpse of the bathroom is nice.

Judge 1: I really like the exterior. The sections of the house are broken up in an interesting manner by the different types of siding and the exterior has a nice, consistent modern style. The two-story window works well on this house and opens the house up. However, I think the exterior is not quite perfect. It’s still a bit plain and blocky looking. Be careful, the addition of the spiral stair is against the rules and will lose you easy to get points. The extra decorating items like the wall stencil are a nice addition. It definitely adds something to the dining room and gives the house personality. While the interior is nice (I especially like the dining room and kitchen combination), I think that it could use a bit more work. The floor plan is very open for such a small house and should allow sims to route well—very good job avoiding routing problems.
Judge 2: Very sharp house Very stylish and good use of the tower since stairs hadn't been mentioned yet I love the dark wood floors with the light walls. Your pics are nice and large and well-taken.
Judge 3: I love how you have broken up the outside walls but some more landscaping would make it even better. I like the look of the upstairs bit, but not sure it was really worth doing as you could probably have fitted it below without the stairs there. I have mixed feelings about the dark flooring and white walls - it's not a personal fave style, but does seem quite well broken up by the windows you've used and the flowers in the dining area. In the lounge (downstairs) I like the shelving units, but not sure the sofa goes with them. The feature wall paper with wall hanging on opposite wall is great in the master bedroom and the color scheme is soft and relaxing (exactly want you want!). I like how you've used different colored walls in the kids bedroom and that the bedspread ties them together.

Judge 1: The roof has been changed on this entry. Be careful not to change the roof, walls or foundation in the next round, since it could cause you to lose easy points. (Might as well pick up the easy points. ) I like that you’ve left several tiles open in front of the front door. This helps keep sims from piling up and causing traffic jams when they enter the house. You have a very lively style, but I think that your house would look better if you selected a few more traditional decorations. Right now, everything in this house is kind of competing for my attention. For example, try picking a few bright or noticeable objects and then decorate around them. I noticed that you’ve used your own CC fridge for this lot. I like that personal touch.
Judge 2: I like the recolor of the fridge that you did (congrats on your first upload). I like the different colored seats at the dinning table, and they are accented nicely but the two white cabinets to the side You might consider a more consistant theme. It's a bit chaotic. The wall coverings make it feel very dark inside. Also, you changed the shape of the roof, which is not allowed. Make sure to take your pics with the walls up. Play around with cameraman mode some
Judge 3:Really not sure what style you were going for with this. You seem to have mixed and matched an awful lot. One place that does work is with the dining chairs - I do like how you've used the same style of chair, but changed the cushion color, it's fun However, none of the wallpapers match with the flooring you've teamed them with, except maybe in the kids room or bathroom - but you haven't really shown them.
Personally, the grungy brick in the master bedroom, and the grungy wood panelling in the kitchen/dining spaces are not pleasant and don't go with the more clean, modern looking other aspects. And the stained glass window paper? Maybe alright on just one wall panel with something much more plain for the rest, but it should not be used to wallpaper a room. Less can often be more with interior decorating, and mixing several different patterns should always be taken with great care, if not avoided. Saying that, you have made some very clearly defined areas out of the large open plan layout, but the way you've gone about it, it all looks too busy and doesn't work.
The shelves in the master bedroom - they don't have anything on them, so I was wondering why you put them there, and so many?
With the outside, I quite like the look of the walls with the large church window, but be careful with wall coverings that aren't designed to go vertically - they can look messy. For the future rounds it would be nice to see an attempt at some landscaping as well, but keep it simple
On a technical note, when taking your pics, make sure the walls are up and you're using cameraman mode (tab key). That way we won't be able to see through several rooms at once which is a huge problem with your last 2 room pictures. It makes it very difficult to focus on anything.

Judge 1: The changes you’ve made to the floor plan work really well. Moving the kitchen and dining room allows for better sim routing and I like that you placed a fireplace in the walled-off area. It’s a creative use of the space. I also see that you have deleted the chimney, which would block the players view, which is nice. The interior of the house is fairly nice. I especially like that you put upper cabinets in the kitchen. A lot of the other contestants neglected this. However, I think the interior might look better if there were more decorations. The front of the house could be improved. I think the siding looks a bit plain on this house and the windows should be changed out. I really like the child’s drawing on the wall—it’s so cute and adds a nice lived- in feel. Also, I like the interesting shape of the dining room floor.
Judge 2: Nice house I love the bathroom. I also love the furniture in the living room, especially the lamp. Your pics are nice and large, just would still like to see them in-line
Judge 3: The brick on the outside is great but the rest of the walls are too plain and not helped by such small windows. I love the 2 story window you've used. It could really do with some more landscaping out front, but I like the bit at the back. You seem to have furnished a nursery for twins rather than a bedroom for one child - be careful in the rounds to read the requirements carefully. I like the bathroom, but the beige is a bit much in the living areas. The two wall hangings in the master bedroom would have been better on the plain wall to break up the white space. A different flooring for the bedrooms would have been nice. There seems to be quite a lot of empty space too.

General comments
Although it won't affect scores as photo taking isn't something that is included in the judging criteria, for those of you who didn't use cameraman mode (tab key) for the application, it would be advised to play around with it for the rounds. It is fiddly when you first start using it, but you can really show your work off well once you've got the hang of it. And you'll also have had the practice and be prepared for any future contests you may want to join, where it might be a requirement
Secondly, it is very off-putting to see through several rooms and miss whatever may have been on the wall of the room you were taking a pic of - so walls should be UP for it could indirectly affect your scores if it means we miss something interesting! The only time you can get away with it is if the only walls in your pic are external walls, in which case they will still be up with the middle option (can't remember what it's called) - can be useful to take from such an angle in a room too small to view otherwise.

It wasn't judged. No score, we just gave everyone feedback. That way it gives everyone a a better feel for what the judges are looking for
