So there I am, thinking when is it gonna get updated, then I see it did get updated, 2 weeks ago. How on earth did I miss that?! *facepalm*
Gosh, you can tell Felix is the child of Daniel and Mary Sue, looks just like them! I do feel for Destiny, having him to propose to Eden in front of her. Have Destiny and Eden talked about it all? Or has Destiny just ignored her ever since? Must be said, her and Lorenzo are just adorable together :D
*gasps* they didn't tell Cass they were leaving?! Jeez... now she's gonna be worried sick! Poor woman.
dum dum dum... another one bites the dust... It was time for him to go tbh, I always think he is one of the oldest of the premades (apart from dear old Morty obviously). Who is gonna bite it next then? It is nice that Felix essentially moved in and took over the house, was that intentional?
I completely forgot that Lilith didn't introduce her kids to her parents. Can't believe Angela is still spiteful, grow up already!
Anyway, I hope you're alright, and not too busy!
I'm in my final year, the amount of work I have to do is... scary.

Awh haha, sorry I didn't have two updates for you to miss! I'm super behind since I've started a new job. I go to school all week and work all weekend leaving hardly any time for Sims or writing. It saddens me that I've had to slack off on the story so much. Hopefully I can get the ball rolling again soon. I've almost finished taking all the photos for chapter 25. Hoping to post it within the next several days but, we'll see if work calls me in -.-' So, I feel for you and your final years' work load! All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy orrr...something like that.
You're right. It's eerie how much Felix looks like the both of his parents. Yes, it was intentional for him to take over the house. I like to keep houses within the family. Saves me the time of redecorating.
As far as Destiny and Eden, they haven't spoken. Once college hit, Eden became really involved with the social scene, sort of leaving the more shy Destiny behind. But now that Destiny has been wronged so many times, she's giving up on friends and family. They haven't spoken about the issue or much else.

Default The Pleasantview Diaries (25)

Holy moly. It has been ages since I've uploaded a new chapter. Let me assure you, it's not because I've lost interest in the story or have been slacking. I have been itching to write and play Sims. The reason this chapter took so long to come out is because I have started a new job as an STNA. That means I work all weekend and go to school all week, unfortunately leaving little time for The Pleasantview Diaries.
Don't worry, I'm not going to quit. I'll still try my hardest to promptly upload chapters. We'll see how it goes.
Anyways, please do enjoy this chapter. It's pretty long. I'd appreciate a comment, thank, and/or rating. Feel free to contact me in a PM or at [email protected].

LOTHARIO

Alone in her swanky apartment, the newly graduated Destiny Goth fiddled with what was left of her brown hair. Just as she’d promised herself, Destiny had broken all ties with her family, found her own place, and changed her whole look. She peered at herself earnestly in the mirror, perfecting every flaw. It would be dark soon and Lorenzo was on his way for yet another fun date.

Destiny smiled at her reflection; she’d never been happier. With a great job, trustworthy boyfriend, and no family to bring her down, she felt on top of the world. While admiring her own new beauty, Destiny heard the doorbell ring. Her grin widened and she scampered off to answer the call.

Destiny flung open the door and found Lorenzo waiting for her, right on time. They young couple embraced and Lorenzo flashed his most cheesy, flirtatious grin. “Good evening, madam. Are you ready for our romantic and sophisticated date to the art museum?'

Destiny chuckled and her heart fluttered as she placed her hand on Lorenzo’s shoulder. No matter how many times they met up, she couldn’t get over his dashing smile and sparkling green eyes. “Of course I am! You haven’t forgotten our deal, have you?” Destiny said suggestively.
Lorenzo thought a moment and then his eyes lit up. “You mean the deal if I can pick out your favorite painting?”
Destiny blushed. “That’s the one.”

The sun faded away quickly as Destiny and Lorenzo finally arrived at the art museum. The pair toured the building, analyzing and discussing every work of art in sight. Lorenzo kept his eye out for what may be his girlfriend’s favorite piece, but she was not giving any hints.

After every last painting and sculpture was inspected, Lorenzo called Destiny over to a large picture of an autumn landscape complete with a drinking moose. He placed his hand in front of the painting as if he was presenting it. “Is this your favorite painting?”

Destiny pointed at the painting. “This is your guess?”
Lorenzo lost his confidence. “Well…yeah, I guess so.”
Destiny chuckled and cried, “Wrong!” Lorenzo sighed and Destiny continued laughing. “What made you choose this one?”
Lorenzo frowned. “I don’t know. It was a wild guess. I don’t know anything about art.”
Destiny smiled coyly at Lorenzo. “Well, you’re in luck. Just because you’re so darn good looking, I’ll give you another try.”

Lorenzo scratched his chin and eyeballed the room thoughtfully. He picked a painting, and jogged over to it. “Ah-ha! This is your favorite painting.” The couple looked the work of art up and down in silence. Lorenzo could tell he did not make the right choice.

Destiny quirked an eyebrow, at a loss for words. “What even is this?”
Lorenzo shrugged. “I don’t know! I already said I don’t know anything bout art.”
Destiny giggled and turned to face Lorenzo. “This is never going to work. We might as well head back to my place and seal the deal.”
Lorenzo smiled suggestively. “Even though I couldn’t guess your favorite painting?”
Destiny winked devilishly. “Yep. Now let’s go!”

The young love birds headed back to Destiny’s apartment, hopped in bed, and woohooed until their heart’s content. They rested on the mattress, looking at each other with tired, satisfied eyes. Destiny sat up and smiled. “I’m so lucky to have met you.”
Lorenzo beamed back at her. “As am I to have met you.”
Destiny took Lorenzo’s hand. “No, really. I didn’t know how this was going to go. But there was something special about you. I trust you, Lorenzo. More than anyone I know.”

The couple was quiet for moment, gazing into each others’ eyes. Lorenzo wrapped his arms around Destiny and pulled her towards him. “Destiny, I…I love you.” He searched her face for a response until she blushed and smiled.
Destiny wrapped her arms around Lorenzo’s warm neck. “I love you too, Lorenzo.”

Lorenzo smiled an electric smile while swiftly scooping up Destiny and gingerly throwing her onto the bed. She giggled, her heart picking up speed. “Lorenzo, will you move in with me?”
Surprised but delighted, Lorenzo nodded. “It would be my pleasure.”

CALIENTE

Nina Caliente stood in her apartment bedroom watching her sister sleep. Dina had such trouble falling asleep, and Nina hated to wake her. Unfortunately, Dina couldn’t be left alone and Nina had important business to attend to. “Dina,” she cooed. “Rise and shine.”

Dina sat up slowly, gaining her bearings. She yawned and sat on the edge of the bed. “What’s going on? Where are we?”
Nina searched her mind for a response her sister could comprehend. “We’re staying in this hotel for a few days. Don’t worry.”
Dina smoothed her hand over her mattress. “What? No. A hotel?”
Nina nodded. “Yes, Dina. We’re on vacation. Are you ready to go somewhere?”

Dina stood up without facing her sister. “Oh no. I don’t think so. Go where?”
Nina took a deep breath. The mornings were always the hardest. “Well my…friend just had a baby. And I’d really like to go see her.” Dina murmured something inaudible and stared at the wall. Nina sighed and grabbed Dina’s shoulders carefully. “Dina? Are you ready to go?”

Dina stepped back from her sister’s touch. “Yeah! Okay! Fine! Sheesh. Why didn’t you just say so?”
Nina rubbed her temple and sighed. “C’mon. Let’s go take your shower.”

The twins spent the better part of the morning getting around until they were finally ready to visit Letti. Nina arrived at the house and before she could even step on the porch, Letti was outside. She looked like a vicious dog guarding her master's house.

Letti stared unwelcomingly at her mother. “What are you doing here?”
Nina ignored her daughter’s coldness and outstretched her arms. “I’ve come to see you and my grandbaby!” Dina stood behind her, oblivious.
Letti contemplated telling Nina to leave, but decided it would be too harsh. She stepped to the side and opened the door for her mother.

Nina and Dina entered the house. Nina raced to the kitchen where Letti had said the baby was and Dina wandered around absently. Nina scooped up the infant and looked into his brown eyes. “Well he certainly looks like his father, doesn’t he?” Letti nodded. Nina gulped uncomfortably and she cradled her grandson. “What did you name him?”
“Ivan.” Letti said with no emotion

Nina walked towards Letti and smiled. “Ivan. I like it.”
Letti forced a half smile. “He’s probably hungry. I should feed him.”
Nina opened the fridge. “I can manage. I did raise you, in case you forgot.” She winked at her daughter playfully. Letti was not amused.

The mother and daughter stood quietly, listening to Ivan’s suckling. Nina blew some air through her mouth, searching her mind for a conversation topic. “So, how was the wedding?”
Letti winced. “We didn’t have one. We just went to the court house.”
Nina nodded, relived to know the reason she hadn't been invited. “Oh, I see. Well, that’s still alright.”
Ivan finished his bottle and Letti took him from her mother’s arms. “He's ready for his nap."
Holding back tears, Nina nodded and went into the living room.

Letti returned from Ivan’s bedroom and joined her mom on the couch. The women sat in silence for a moment until Nina spoke in a shaky voice. “I’m trying here, Letti. Why are you acting like this?”
Letti snorted. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Nina threw her hands up. “Like hell you don’t! You’re barely speaking to me, barely even looking at me. I have hardly seen you since you left for college. I’m trying to be a part of your life, of Ivan’s life.”
Letti gave her mother a sour look. “It’s too late for that. I spent my entire childhood begging for your love. Now you think I’ll take pity on you in your old age? Your final attempt to clear your conscience before you die? No. I don’t need your love. I don’t want you around.”

Nina frowned. Her daughter’s words hurt, but she had known in her heart for quite some time that’s how Letti felt. She shrugged. “I don’t know what else to do here.”
Letti looked at her mother, cold and expressionless. “There’s nothing that can be done.”
Nina nodded. “I guess I’ll be going then. I just wish you could have found the same forgiveness for me that you found for your father.” With those final words, she called for Dina, arose from the couch, and walked our the door.

GOTH

Lucy Goth stared at the massive house before her. With the large lookout tower and huge water tank next door, it looked more like a military compound than a home with friendly neighbors. She wiped the sweat from her head before it could trickle down her brow. The hot desert air made her feel thirsty and tired. Lucy gulped and without facing her husband asked, “Alex, are you sure this is right?”

Lucy turned to see her husband cuddling their half alien infant. “Well Lucy, you’re the one that came up with Strangetown and this address. You tell me.”
Lucy’s face grew solemn. “It just seems so…unwelcoming.”
“What did you expect? This is neighborhood is basically a government owned alien sanctuary. We’re living next door to the General who runs the whole operation.”
Lucy nodded. “I suppose you’re right. I just have to keep reminding myself we’re doing this for Alba.”

Alex smiled and settled the baby into the crook of his arm. “Indeed. This is what will keep our daughter safe.”
Lucy still felt uncomfortable. She recalled the night Alba was born, when Alex and Lucy set the Goth mansion on fire and raced away in their car. “I can’t help thinking about our families…they think we’re dead. They’re heartbroken I’m sure.”
Alex sighed. “I know. It was hard to do. But if they think we died in the house fire, they will not come looking for us. Thus, Alba will not be harmed. She’s safe here. Her green skin and bottomless eyes will not be questioned.”
Lucy tried to smile but her eyes welled with tears. Alex detected his wife’s sadness. “Let’s go inspect the new house, change into some more climate appropriate attire. Possibly we’ll take a nap. We need rest, it has been a long drive.”

Lucy and Alex were disappointed to find their house was almost identical to the military home next door. Still, they entered and unpacked what little they took with them. Lucy was thankful to peel of her long khakis in exchange for some lighter, denim shorts. She tried not to cry as she thought about her brother and sister, mother and father. She would never see them again.

Lucy and Alex spent the day tending to Alba and unpacking boxes. They were relieved to watch they sun disappear and take the heat with it, remarking on how different the Pleasantview weather had been. The big moving day also happened to be Alba’s birthday, and the couple temporarily set aside their heartaches in order to celebrate. Lucy and Alex held their breath as their daughter transitioned, anxious to see what Alba’s half alien biology would mean for her toddler years. After careful inspection, the husband and wife determined their daughter was a normal toddler, and put her to bed.

After Alba was sound asleep and Alex off to do some reading, Lucy headed downstairs to tidy up the kitchen. Just after reaching the bottom, there was a knock at the door. At last, Lucy thought. General Grunt is here to welcome us. Lucy opened the door and a strange, blonde woman forced her way inside.
“Well you don’t look goth at all, my dear!”
Lucy blinked at the loud lady. “I beg your pardon?”

The woman threw her arms around Lucy, giving her a tight hug. “It’s great to meet you, neighbor!”
Lucy patted the woman’s back awkwardly in return. “Yes uhm, nice to meet you too. You wouldn’t happen to be General Grunt, would you?”
The woman retreated and laughed. “That stick in the mud? Oh heavens no! But the General did tell everyone that a couple of goths were moving here from Pleasantview with their alien baby, and I thought I’d come over to say hello. I’m the official head of the unofficial welcome wagon!”
The blonde’s voice and fast speech exhausted Lucy. “Goth is my last name…who are you?”

The blonde’s eyes went wide and she giggled. “Your last name? Oh of course! Heaven forgive me! I can be such a scatterbrain sometimes. My name is Jenny, by the way. Jenny Smith.”
Lucy rubbed her head. “Well, it’s nice to meet you Jenny.” She started at Jenny, hoping she would leave.
Jenny did not leave. “Well let’s have a seat, shall we? I’ll give you the lay of the land!” Lucy frowned and directed Jenny to the living room.

Jenny flopped down on the royal blue sofa and wiggled her bottom. “Comfy couch! I see you’re not quite moved in yet though.”
Lucy nodded. “Yes, we just moved in today. I was under the impression General Grunt would be seeing we made it here safely and teaching us about life here…or something like that.”
Jenny rolled her eyes. “Don’t count on it. You’ll probably never see that man. He’s not happy you’re here.”
Lucy quirked an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

Jenny’s face grew serious. “Well you see, General Buzz Grunt is a highly decorated military man. That’s why he was sent to Strangetown, to oversee the Alien Assimilation Project. He’s supposed to be the law of the land, also making sure all the aliens stay hidden from the rest of society. Little did the government know that Grunt is extremely prejudiced. He hates aliens, which he makes apparent in all of his law enforcement choices.”
Lucy gulped. There’s no way a man like that can keep Alba safe. “Oh dear...”
Jenny smiled. “Don’t worry about your little squirt though. We all get by. Considering most of the people living here are related to an alien in one way or another, he has little power. Most of the crimes against the green folk are minor. Although he and my husband Polly get into it quite often, the worst cases have been fights between my son Johnny and his son Tank. Tank is just like his father, stubborn, mean, and hates aliens. Tank and Johnny are away at university now and out of my hair, thank goodness!” Jenny paused to laugh. “Grunt’s other two boys, Ripp and Buck, are very good boys. It’s a shame how hard their father is on them.”

Lucy’s mind darted around, trying to make sense of everything Jenny had just said. “So… your son and husband are aliens?”
Jenny nodded. “Yes! I married good ol’ Polly a while ago. He’s old now, and I’ll join him soon in that. He’s a retired pollination technician who decided to make a life on his favorite planet. I know it’s…unconventional, but I love him. He’s given me four beautiful children. Johnny, Jill, and the twins Jack and Jane.”
Lucy gulped. “A pollination technician?”

"Yes dear, it’s exactly what it sounds like. He was part of an alien team who abducted people to impregnate them with alien children. Polly has twin daughters from his career, Chloe and Lola.” Jenny blushed. “Their father, aside from Polly, is actually my father as well.”
Lucy’s eyes went wide. “So you’re saying…your half sisters are your stepdaughters as well?”
Jenny nodded. “Yes, the family situation is a little twisted. I know that. But Chloe and Lola are great girls with normal lives. They live here with two human roommates, Erin and Kristen.”
Lucy shuddered at the thought of Alex being impregnated by an alien, perhaps by someone like Jenny’s husband. She wondered if male pregnancy had any later, adverse effects. “So your father was fine? From…you know…”

Jenny was confused for a moment. “From having an alien baby?”
Lucy nodded and Jenny laughed. “Oh of course! Having alien babies is…well, not totally normal. that's what I was going to say, but you get my point. It happens quite often around here.” Lucy breathed a sigh of relief and Jenny continued on her story. “In fact, my brother Pascal Curious, just gave birth to a little alien boy name Tycho. He’s doing splendidly. I’m sure my other brothers, Vidcund and Lazlo, are helping out though. They all live together in their big, dorky, science-mansion.”
Lucy smiled at the thought of three scientists living together with an alien baby. “I’m sure my husband would love to meet them. He's a scientist as well.”

"As are most men who father alien children,” Jenny said with a laugh. “But anyway, it should be no problem for him to meet Pascal and Lazlo. Vidcund, on the other hand, is sort of in hiding right now. You see, he got back with his old girlfriend Circe Beaker after she married her husband Loki. Now there are whispers that Circe’s son Edison isn’t Loki’s son as well. I’ve also heard Circe is pregnant again. It’s all big mess. I’m trying to stay out of it.”
Lucy raised her eyebrows at Jenny. For somebody who was trying to stay out of the neighborhood drama, she certainly knew a lot about everyone.
Jenny smiled. “Your husband may be interested in meeting Circe and Loki too. They’re very brilliant scientists as well.”
Lucy nodded. “I’ll let him know.”

Jenny threw her arms into the air and yelled. “Well look at me and my mouth! I’ve blabbed on just about the whole neighborhood!”
Lucy laughed; Jenny’s bubbly personality was starting to grow on her, just a little. “You mean there’s people you’ve still left out?”
Jenny nodded. “Oh sure! There’s crazy old Olive Specter whose probably killed the other half of the neighborhood!”
Lucy’s mouth fell open. “What?!”
Jenny waved her hand as if to brush off Lucy’s shock. “Oh don’t worry about her. She’s too old to kill anyone else, and too busy doting on her son, Nervous Subject, who she recently reunited with. These days she just sits in her yard, staring at the graves of everyone that ‘mysteriously died’ on her property.”
Despite Jenny’s reassurance, Lucy worried. “How many graves are there?”
Jenny thought a moment. “Oh, I don’t know. Ten? Twenty? Maybe more. Johnny, my son, he would know. He was seeing Olive’s niece who lived there for a while. Little Ophelia Nigmos. Something happened to her too, Johnny thinks. Nobody has seen her in a year or two. He refuses to believe Ophelia would ever leave him. But I think the kid just up and ran away. Probably couldn’t handle having an alien boyfriend or murderer for an aunt. This Strangetown life, it’s not for everyone.”

Lucy sighed, trying to let all the new information sink in. “Well I’ll say! Is there anyone normal here?”
Jenny thought a moment. “Well there’s that Ajay Loner kid. I think he’s pretty boring, keeps to himself.”
Lucy buried her face in her hands. “I think I need to lie down.”
Jenny stood up from the couch and placed a comforting hand on Lucy’s shoulder. “I understand, honey. It’s a lot to take in. I’m sure my mouth isn’t helping the situation much. I always have talked too much. Well anyways, welcome to Strangetown.”

After Jenny Smith left, Lucy dragged herself up the stairs and slipped on a light nightgown. She relaxed on the bed and heaved a sigh. It had been such an overwhelming day; Lucy didn’t know how to think or feel about her family’s move. Alexander walked in and stripped down to his boxers. He glanced at his wife on the bed; she looked worn down. “I wonder how long it will take to adjust to this heat.”
Lucy stared straight ahead, ignoring her husband’s small talk. “Everyone living here is crazy, Alex.”

Alex frowned and hopped into the bed with Lucy. “Hey, don’t think like that. We are going to make it work here. We’ll raise Alba and make a new family. It will all be alright.” He kissed Lucy’s forehead.
Lucy sighed and covered her eyes. “Just wait until I tell you everything Jenny Smith just told me.”
Alex raised his eyebrow. “Who is Jenny Smith?”

Lucy shook her head. “Never mind. We’ll discuss it in the morning. Right now I just want to sleep. But, I can’t sleep without something to comfort me, something familiar and pleasurable.” She smiled cheekily at Alex and he responded with an embrace while flicking off the lights.

Really freaky picture of Olive Specter!! :S

Well you certainly didn't disappoint. Nina's parting words to Leti will definitely haunt her long after her mother is gone. That I'm sure of.

Not really story related but what is it with everyone and having an alien baby boy named Tycho in Strangetown? is there some preset canon about a tycho I'm not aware of???

Hey SingleClawDesigns! Thanks for commenting; I always look forward to reading yours. I'm glad you weren't disappointed!

Apparently, the name Tycho comes from The Sims 2 for PSP where Pascal has already given birth. I had originally picked out the name Kelvin for him (which I thought was quite clever), but was later informed his name should really be Tycho. Oh well.

Well that explains it then. I kinda felt bad for my lack of a critique this time around but I feel it will be better when I get the full array of characters in strangetown once or twice before making judgement. That and I've found myself immersed in gameboy emulators as of late so my own sims 2 playing has been sorely lacking (damn you pikachu!!).

I feel your pain on the new job though that can really cut into your own time in projects. My own hours are from 10pm-7am 4 nights a week so unless I take copious notes on what is happening in each house I play I quickly get lost and scrap the entire thing.

One other thing, the picture collage method you used in this chapter was absolutely brilliant in regards to Jenny's dialogue. It introduced your versions of them at critical points and showed us exactly what Jenny meant when talking about them, while saving up valuable real estate in the reading time.

Enjoy catching up with the story. Heart breaking to see Letti and Nina. I had hope they would make peace. To be honest, General Grunt is my favorite when I play Strangetown; I find him pretty cool. The alien baby, I always name Juno. I figure it's my game. I shall name the babe whatever I wish. Interesting in seeing how things play out.

The best revenage is a well lived life.

Read all of the chapters over the course of a couple of hours and I'm completely hooked! Really can't wait for the chapters to come. Only "criticism" I can give is perhaps a little more variety, as to not get stuck in the loop of marriage, kids, college, marriage, kids, college, etc. Needs more drama + cheating! :D

Awh don't feel bad! You're not obligated to critique every chapter, although I very much enjoy it when you do I know how distracting that Pikachu can be.
10pm-7m? That would be rough. I usually work 2pm-10pm. Sometime 6am-2pm. It's hard getting adjusted. I'm naturally a note taker so I don't struggle with remembering things, just with getting inspired to write not doing it for weeks.
I'm glad you enjoyed the picture collages for Jenny telling Lucy about Strangetown. I wanted to introduce and actually show all the characters right of the bat. It took me a little while to figure out how to do that. I considered having them all show up at Alba's birthday party. Eventually I decided to make Jenny Smith the neighborhood busy body.
Thanks for commenting!

Hey elanna! Thanks so much for catching up on the story and dropping me a comment; I appreciate it
Yes, Nina and Letti have their struggles. Perhaps they can work something out before she passes.
I've never played Strangetown much, and had to do some significant research on the citizens there before writing this chapter. I didn't want to miss anything or get anything wrong with the already existing story, that could ruin it for those who are big fans of Strangetown. So far, I seem to like all the characters in it. Even General Buzz Grunt!
Btw, I love the name Juno!

Hey eduardovercetti! Thanks so much for taking the time to read all my work, and then ever leave me a comment! It's always exciting to hear I've gotten somebody new hooked in my drama
I try to keep things new and fresh in my story. Because so many people in the first generations were big cheaters, I wanted to make their children learn from their mistakes and be more thankful. I'm sure some more cheaters are on the horizon though

Btw, I love the name Juno!

About Juno; it was the name of a character from Star Trek, the next generation. About a boy tore between his human family who thought him dead and his alien father who found him as an infant and raised him.
I think you captured the feel of Strangetown quite well. While my favorite is Pleasentview, being a science fiction bluff, Strangetown was a draw as well. However, I frankly find the town dull; the Creators could have done a far better job of creating a truly Strange place. So it is left to writers such as ourselves to do so

Oh goody goody, another chapter to sink my teeth into
So, first up, Destiny and Lorenzo, they are so cute together! They're naturally flirtatious and just adorable. I'm glad they're taking it slow. Everyone is getting engaged and married etc, it's nice to see them move at a slower pace.
Next: n'aww I do like how Nina is looking after Dina. Surely their time is coming? :/ I get how Letti treats her mum, doesn't mean it's sad to read though. It was lovely how Nina fed him though! I can see how unhappy Letti is, it'd be great for her to have a crisis and go wild, or (I know it's mean) just leave her kid and go exploring for a bit. She's had a tough life, and it's just going to continue. I really have NOT warmed to Martin at all. Just... no.
Finally, OMG A MASSIVE SECTION OF GOTH. Yay makes up for the lack of them in previous chapters
Can I ask WCIF Lucy and Olive's hair? I can never have too many hair styles
I don't play Strangetown, I have in the past so I know the story. It was nice to have Jenny introduce everyone though, you even included Ajay! I remember he was the first Sim I played in Strangetown, he went into the medical career and I got so excited to see Bella Goth walk by. He quickly got to know her and they moved in together... can't remember the rest haha. But yeah, I like him

Don't feel guilty about not uploading often, it makes the new chapters all the more sweeter to read Also, congrats on the job! Busy bee you are

Cool! I've never watched much of Star Trek. I'm more of a Star Wars girl, and only know the name from the movie Juno.
Pleasantview is my favorite too, which makes it very easy to write about. I'm very glad you think I've done a good job so far with Strangetown!

I love Destiny and Lorenzo too! They are quickly becoming my favorite couple. Little fact: Destiny and Ricardo were actually supposed to end up together, but I completely forgot about it. I named them after some of the first Sims I made who I loved very much and had lots of cute little kids. But I got so involved with the story I completely forgot about those plans. So now, Destiny is with Ricardo's brother. Close enough.
Olive's hair is from that website I told you about, TSR. Lucy's hair...I'll have to do some hunting. I'm really not sure. Sorry!
My original plans to introduce the Strangetown characters was for them to all show up to a surprise birthday party for Alba but that seemed like it would be hard to take pictures for lol. Then I thought of making Jenny the town busybody and liked that better anyway. I almost forgot about Ajay though! (He's pretty forgettable, honestly).
I can't help not feeling guilty! I really wanted to upload weekly but that's not working out so well -.- I'm glad you appreciate the anticipation though, haha. Anyways, thanks! The job and school are going well but taking up so much time. I can't believe I haven't posted for a whole MONTH! *Gasps, faints* Now that finals are over and I have like a whole month off school, I need to get to work. I hope to have a new chapter out ASAP, and a little surprise bonus I have cooked up

I just discovered this story and I LOVE it! I hate Daniel Pleasant, so it inspired me to reset my Pleasantview and create my own storyline with the Pleasant family.

I love all your characters and am glad that poor Martin Ruben found love.

I want to smack Kaylynn--how could she believe Don would change? He's a snake. Hate that dude. When i play him, I turn him into a family dim because i can't stand how romance sims act, lol. I hope Don gets caught and dumped, but good!

Thanks for writing this--it's delightful!

Hey grumpy_otter! Thanks a whole bunch for taking the time to read my story and leave me a comment; I really appreciate it! Daniel Pleasant has never been one of my favorite characters either, but I'm glad to hear I inspired you.
I'm glad you love my characters! But poor Kaylynn, she really loves Don. But you're right; he'll always be a hound dog. I think he did change, a little. Seeing Nina again just sparked something. Maybe since she told him off it will all be water under the bridge?
Thank YOU for reading! Hope to hear from you again

Default The Pleasantview Diaries Chapter 25 Celebration: Deleted Scenes
*Trumpet sounds* The Pleasantview Diaries has returned! Well, sort of. If you read my comments, this is the special suprise I mentioned. Hooray for deleted scenes! Before you panic, know that all the pictures have been taken for chapter 26 and I will post it hopefully very soon. This is just a little bonus I have been plotting for a while. I hope you enjoy taking a walk down memory lane! The deleted scenes are in chronological order, starting somewhere around chapter 2 and ending around chapter 22.
I take A LOT of pictures when writing this story. Some are just of random cute moments and others are actually for the story. I don't end up using all the pictures in the actual story for various reasons. Maybe the event was too insignificant or too short to make the cut. Perhaps I decided to go a different route with the story. Whatever the reason, I decided some of the scenes were worth sharing. I hope you agree!

ONE

Daniel Pleasant thumped a bowl of cereal down on the breakfast table. His face was void of emotion as the milk sloshed dangerously towards the edge of the white china bowl. Oblivious to his sour mood, Mary-Sue looked up at her husband with a cheerful smile. “Good morning, honey! We were just discussing baby names!” Daniel sat down with a thud and began to eat. The presences of his in laws, and awaking before ten in the morning always made Daniel bitter.

Herb Oldie shook his head and chuckled condescendingly. “You see, Mary-Sue? That’s exactly what I’m talking about.”
Mary-Sue raised her eyes over her bowl, mouth full, as if to ask what her father meant.
He hit the table with his fist for emphasis. “Attitude! That husband of yours has no respect.”
Daniel stared straight ahead. “I’m right here.”

Herb wrinkled his face. “All I’m saying is, this one don’t act like he gives a hoot about anyone in this house but himself. He doesn’t deserve to be a part of naming this baby. Was he even around when the twins were born?”
Daniel pushed himself away from the table and stormed away. “I’ve had enough of this.”

Mary-Sue’s smile vanished from her face. “He was there, Daddy.”
When Daniel was out of an earshot, Coral gave her husband a scolding look. “Herb, you just can’t talk to Daniel like that. It isn’t right! He is the father of your grandchildren and you need to respect him.”
Herb scowled and crossed his arms over his chest. “I ain’t talkin’ to him like nothing!”
Mary-Sue sighed. No one in her family ever seemed to get along.

TWO

Don Lothario adjusted and aligned his body on his fancy exercise machine. Although his condo was a dump and he could hardly afford rent, Don seemed to find money for things like top dollar workout equipment and big screen televisions. Other than ladies, physical fitness was Don’s greatest passion. Having six pack abs kept the girls of Pleasantview crawling at his feet.

Today was different. Don couldn’t concentrate on his breathing and counting; he was too worried about the phone call he’d received earlier that day. Dina Caliente, one of his many lovers, had informed him that she and her twin sister were pregnant and Don was undoubtedly the father. He cringed as he thought about squalling babies with green stench rising from their diapers.

He tried pushing past the worry and guilt by flexing harder and faster. It didn’t help; Don realized his promiscuous ways had finally caught up with him. He hadn’t returned Dina’s call, and it wouldn’t take long for her to realize Don didn’t want to be a father. Child support demands were surely on the horizon. Don decided he was going to have to come into some money, and fast.

THREE

Mary-Sue Pleasant stepped outside to greet her best friend, Cassandra Goth. Cassandra beamed at the sight of her friend’s pregnant belly. “Mary-Sue! Look at you! You’re glowing!”
Mary-Sue forced a smile and patted her tummy. “Yes, thank you. I’m about halfway through my pregnancy now.” Her smile vanished as she remembered the reason she had invited Cassandra over. “Please Cassie, let’s go inside.”

The two women sat down at Mary-Sue’s kitchen table. They were quiet a moment until Cassandra spoke. “Please Mary-Sue, tell me what’s going on. You seem so sad. Why have you invited me here?”
Mary-Sue bit her lip. “It’s…Lilith. She’s run away. Daniel and I…well,I am worried sick about her.”

Cassandra was shocked, her gasp turned into a frown. “What?! Where could she have gone to?!”
Mary-Sue shook her head. “I don’t know. That’s why I invited you here. I know you’re living with the Dreamers now and as you know, Dirk is Lilith’s boyfriend. Before she left, we had an argument about their relationship. I was hoping you had seen her at home…” Mary-Sue’s voice trailed off as tears filled her eyes.

Cassandra thought to herself for a moment before looking at Mary-Sue with sad, apologetic eyes. “I’m sorry Mary-Sue, I haven’t seen her lately. I don’t think she’s been at our house in a while. Dirk hasn’t said anything but…I’ll talk to him, okay?”
Mary-Sue put her head on the table and began to weep. “This is all my fault. We’re never going to find her.”

Cassandra stood up and wrapped her arms around Mary-Sue. “Don’t say that! Lilith is a tough girl; I’m sure she’s fine and we’ll find her soon. Please, don’t blame yourself. It breaks my heart to see you like this.”
Mary-Sue welcomed the hug of her friend. It had been a long time since anyone reassured or comforted Mary-Sue. She sighed and squeezed Cassandra back. “Thank you.”

FOUR

Lucy Burb, her parents John and Jennifer, and her cousin Lilith all sat around the dinner table together. They quietly ate their hot macaroni and cheese while Lucy squirmed in her seat. The young girl had a question on her mind and she couldn’t stand keeping it in any longer. “Is Lilith going to live here with us?” She blurted it out, then looked at everyone’s faces to see if she was going to be scolded.

John choked on his macaroni while his eyes darted towards his wife. He knew Lilith was a wild child and honestly, he didn’t want the responsibility of raising his niece. Their house was small enough with just the five of them. Although John was a family Sim, he hardly considered Lilith family. ”Well Lucy, that’s a very big question…”
Lucy grinned and looked at Lilith mischievously. “I like it with her here. It’s like having a big sister!”

Jennifer threw her head back and laughed. “A big sister, huh? Well Lucy, I like the idea. Lilith is a pretty cool niece and we wouldn’t want to send her back to live with mean old Uncle Daniel, would we?” Lucy giggled and shook her head no. Lilith and John’s eyes bulged for very different reasons.
“You really mean it, Aunt Jen?!”
John looked at his wife desperately. “Jennifer…"

Jennifer gave her husband an annoyed look, “What, John?! She’s been great since she’s been here. It wouldn’t be any trouble, would it?”
John knew there was no way around this. “Well I guess it’ll only be for a couple more years until college…” Lucy and Lilith cheered and high-fived while Jennifer smiled proudly. John forced a smile at his niece. “Well Lilith, welcome to the family.”

FIVE

Nina Caliente sat in her living room flipping channels on the television. She hated being home alone to “babysit". Unfortunately, since Letti was born, she didn’t do much partying. The little girl had certainly but a damper on her love life as well. Nina heard a small voice from the floor. “Mama! Mama!”

Without looking down, she spoke to her daughter harshly. “What do you want, Letti?”
Unaware of her mother’s coldness, she smiled and squeezed her chubby fists, hoping to be picked up and entertained. “Read! Book!”

Nina groaned and stomped over the bookshelf before flopping onto the floor. She opened the book and began to read. Letti loved to read, and Nina knew she wouldn’t have any peace and quiet until the book had been devoured cover to cover. With plenty of sarcasm and little enthusiasm, Nina began to read. “Farm animals and their sounds blah blah blah. What does the pig say?”
Letti smiled and made her best oinking sound.
Nina couldn’t help but chuckle. “What does the sheep say?”
Again, Letti giggled and while yelling, “Baa baa!” One by one, Letti correctly performed each animal call with shining eyes.
Nina was impressed and awkwardly patted her daughter on the head. “You’re pretty smart, kid. I guess babysitting isn’t so bad after all.”

SIX

Henry Broke and his little brother Carter Long sat at their activity table scribbling away. Finding himself having far too much fun with little kid toys, Henry figured he better set the record straight. “Just so you know Carter, the only reason I’m playing with you is because Beau and Dustin are busy doing big boy things.” Carter obliviously smashed his crayon against the paper.

Henry drew his crocodile picture carefully, trying his hardest to color in the lines perfectly. “I really don't like playing with babies, or baby toys like this activity table. Mom is just making me spend time with you.” Carter smiled at Henry and began chewing on his green crayon as Brandi walked in the living room.

Henry laughed at the toddler. “Ew, Carter! You’re not supposed to eat crayons!” Brandi, who was now looking through the bookshelf, heard what was going on. “Henry, be a good big brother and don’t let him chew on those crayons!”
Henry grumbled to himself while snatching the crayon from and Carter's fist and gently replacing it with a block. “This is why I don’t play with babies.” As much as he tried to seem as mature as his big brothers, Henry knew deep down he still liked coloring and spending time with Carter.

SEVEN

Destiny Goth sat with her niece Eden Dreamer on the floor of her bedroom. Eden was busy banging a talking bunny head against the floor while Destiny flew a rocket ship around in the air. “I wonder what it would be like to go in outer space…”, Destiny wondered quietly.
Still abusing the rabbit Eden yelled to copy her closest friend. “Outta space! Outta space!”

Destiny laughed and put the rocket ship down, scooting closer towards Eden. “That’s right! Outer space! When you get bigger, we should go together. We’ll fly to the moon and have fun all day, every day without Cassandra! We don’t really need her, you know?” Eden ignored her aunt while she poked her rabbit in the eyes.

Destiny sighed and sat quietly, watching her niece while drumming her fingers on her thighs. “It feels like you’re my little sister, Eden. I wish you could be. I wish I belonged in this family like you do.” No matter how hard she tried, Destiny could never forget that she was an orphan.

EIGHT

Lilith Dreamer and her husband Dirk sat quietly next to each other in the common space of their dorm, researching for their semester finals. Lilith couldn’t wipe the smirk off her face, and eventually broke her silence. “So…I hear my sister is very upset about our recent matrimony.”
Dirk cocked an eyebrow without taking his eyes of his text book. “She is? Really? Why?” He hoped he hadn’t done something wrong to create even more tension between the sisters.

Lilith acted casual, delighted with herself. “Ohhh you know, she’s just a little jealous that a certain somebody hasn’t popped the question yet.”
Dirk laughed, finally understanding. “Poor Dustin.”
Lilith smiled and nodded. “I heard her barking his head off last night. Yelling about how we’re married and they aren’t even engaged. I couldn’t help but laugh.”

Dirk pursed his lips and looked at Lilith warningly. “Oh c’mon now Lily Pad. You know how badly she wants to get married. It’s got to be hard for her.”
Lilith smiled, bearing her teeth. “I know! That’s why I love it! She’s always thought she’s better than me, and now I have everything she wants. She deserves to be green with envy for a little while. She’ll have a big gaudy wedding soon enough, I’m sure, and get over it.”
Dirk shook his head and forced a chuckle. Although he was much older than his only sister, Eden, they were still fairly close. He couldn’t imagine feuding with her the way Lilith and Angela fought.

NINE

Dina Goth sat in her bedroom without making a sound. Although everything around her was quiet, the inside of her mind was buzzing, haunting her. Way to go, Dina. He knows. Ricardo knows about Bella. Ricardo knows Mortimer isn’t his father. Everything you’ve worked for is ruined. You ruined it all. You’re stupid. You’re worthless. How could you let him find that painting? Why couldn’t you hide the truth like we wanted?
“Shut up,” Dina whispered. “Leave me alone.” She closed her eyes and took deep breaths, praying the voice would cease.

Fix it! You have to fix this! Fix it you stupid bitch!
Dina screwed up her face and yelled. “No! You shut up!”
Burn her! Burn Bella and burn the secrets! Burn them all!
“He’ll hate me,” she whispered.
He already hates you. Everyone hates you because you're a stupid, dirty gold digger. Do it. Burn them.

“Will that work? Will that make you leave me alone?”
We’ll never leave you alone! Never! Burn the paintings or you will die!
Dina narrowed her eyes, her heart pounded. “I'll do it. I have to protect my son. He can't know.”

TEN

Lucy squinted at her painting, being careful not to make any errors. She wanted to finish a couple pieces to take back to Pleasantview with her before Christmas break. She moved ever so slowly with impeccable concentration. Suddenly, a voice from behind startled her.
“You shouldn’t be doing that.”
Lucy jumped, causing the brush to make a jagged blue line across the painting.

She sighed and furrowed her eyebrows. “Alex, look what you made me do! What are you talking about anyway?”
He turned his head sideways and looked curiously at the painting. “My apologies. That painting was not going to be successful anyway. You can’t use that kind of paint on that kind of canvas. It will not withstand the test of time.”

Lucy snorted and began mixing some colors on her paint palette to try and correct the smudge. “Since when are you an expert artist? Don’t you have a star to go stare at or something?”
Alex smiled. “I’ll have you know I have a great deal of appreciation for art.” He pumped his fist in the air with enthusiasm. “Ah! And as a matter of fact, yes. I do have some stars to watch. Care to join me, assistant?”

Lucy sighed. “Sure, just give me five minutes to clean up.”
Alex smiled at Lucy. “Thank you. I knew I could count on you, friend.”
Lucy rolled her eyes. She’d grown to hate that word. “Right back at you, pal."

ELEVEN

Felix Pleasant stepped into his dorm room for the first time excitedly. College had so many promises. Here. at Sim State University, he would prepare for his career that would surely make him even wealthier, and maybe even find a suitable wife. A woman who was keen and motivated, somebody who would make a great mother. Yes. He thought to himself. These next four years are going to be some of the best ever.

Before he could step further into his new bedroom, his smile fell flat. The walls were covered with posters of screamo and punk bands, everything was decorated in red and black, dirty clothes scattered the floor, and the whole room reeked of woohoo and patchouli. His mind darted around; there was only one person who could have stayed in this dorm before him, and he knew exactly who that person was. Felix put his hands on his lips and frowned. “Lilith…"

TWELVE

Angela Broke was just about to walk upstairs and get ready for bed when a pain struck through her abdomen. She jumped and groaned, reaching for her swollen belly. “Uh oh.” She knew what had to be happening, and Dustin was away at work. “Help! Mom! The baby is coming!”

Angela began yelling and swaying just as Benjamin and Brandi ran in the room. Everyone was filled with panicked excitement as the delivery progressed. Brandi tried reassuring her daughter in law. “C’mon girly, you’re doing great! I should know, I’ve done this four times! Keep pushing; I want to meet my first grandbaby!”

Soon enough, the pushing ceased and Angela delivered a brown eyed baby girl. “She’s beautiful!”, everyone exclaimed while Angela kissed her infant.
“Welcome to the family, little Rose. I can’t wait for your Daddy to meet you.”

THIRTEEN

Dirk Dreamer smiled as he stepped out of his expensive black car. The winter air felt crisp on his face, and the special nature of the day made everything seem more vibrant. “Okay Dad, you can open your eyes now!” Darren Dreamer climbed out of the car, curious to see where his son had brought him.

Darren found himself in front of a bright yellow, but quaint building. He scratched his beard and looked around until he saw a sign that read “Little Dreamer’s Toy Shop”. He gasped. “You really did it, son!”
Dirk smiled. “You like it? In know you’re not into tinkering as much as Cassandra and me, but I want this to be a family business. I want you to be proud of me. I didn't just do this for me Dad, but for you too."

Darren smiled. “Son, I am so proud of you. I know we didn’t have a whole lot when you were growing up, but you’ve certainly worked hard and your dreams are coming true. I love you, and I’m honored that you’ve named the shop after our family. I'm so glad you want me to be a part of it.”
Dirk beamed, completely happy in the moment and time. He touched his Dad’s shoulder. “C’mon, let me show you around inside.”

Dirk ushered his father into the toy shop so the men could take off their coats and open the store for the first time. The father and son got to work and spent all day bonding and reeling in customers. Dirk and Darren both agreed there was something almost magical about the store, people just seemed happier when they walked in the doors. Darren was so proud to be a part of it all, and delighted he could see his son make his dreams a reality before the end of his days.

FOURTEEN

Beau Broke and his girlfriend Allegra Gorey didn’t waste any time after graduation in getting married. The unlikely couple had a quaint ceremony in their backyard, saying “I do” in untraditional red and black, surrounded by family and friends. The guests couldn’t help but laugh when Allegra swooped in for the kill before anyone could say, “you may now kiss the bride”.

Although Allegra had never seen herself as the motherly type, it didn’t take too long for Beau to convince her they should have a baby. Despite her doubts, Allegra loved her husband and wanted to do whatever she could to make him as happy as he had made her.

First came love, then came marriage, and Allegra soon found herself screaming thanks to the baby in a baby carriage. “Beauuu, get over here right now the baby is coming!” When nobody came, Allegra remembered her husband was away at work. “Oh crap!” She grimaced. “I can’t do this alone! Ugh, please come home!”

After a considerable amount of cursing and panting, Allegra found herself holding a green eyed baby boy. “Wow, he looks just like me!” It only took half a second for Allegra to fall in love with her son and all her doubts to dissipate.

She cradled the baby gently. Never before had she held something so precious and delicate. “Don’t worry little one. I love you, Dimitri. Mommy’s here. Mommy’s got you.”

Stay tuned! The Pleasantview Diaries will resume soon with chapter 26, featuring death, cheating, romance, and a birthday!

Default The Pleasantview Diaries (26)

Taa daa! Chapter 26 is hot off the press. I'm a total loser for taking so long to post this but I'm really happy it is done! This one is pretty long, so I hope you enjoy!
If you like my story, have advice, or want to ask me something please don't be shy! You can comment, private message me, or email me at [email protected]. There are few things I love more than seeing long comments from faithful fans or new comments from first time readers. They seriously make my day and motivate me to keep the story going.

SIM STATE UNIVERSITY

Ophelia Nigmos stood outside her dorm room with her arms folded across her chest. She stared at her own picture on the door. I can’t believe I’m at Sim State University. I can’t believe I actually did it. Ophelia recalled how she'd been on the run, trying to make her way to Pleasantview for what felt like ages. The last eighteen months had been scary, but worth it.

She smiled, proud of herself. Ever since her parents died when she was young, Ophelia lived a crazy life. She dated an alien boy while living with her homicidal Aunt. It was a miracle she made it out of Strangetown alive. As if the people weren’t enough of a danger, nobody was allowed to leave Strangetown. The government didn’t want to take the risk of others finding out about the alien sanctuary.

Ophelia closed her eyes and breathed deeply as she remembered her high school sweet heart, Johnny Smith. She’d left him broken hearted when she snuck out of Strangetown illegally, and ended up at Sim State University in Pleasantview. Sim State was her dream school. Although she loved Johnny, she loved the thought of having a normal life even more. No aliens, no desert, no serial killers, no military bases. She wanted a career and kids, a white picket fence and green grass. She was tired of being a freak; she knew Pleasantview could make all of her dreams come true.

After unpacking, Ophelia snuggled in her small dorm bed and slept soundly through the night for the first time in years. The next morning she decided to explore Pinenut Plaza. Giddy with excitement, she barged through the doorway into the main hall, bumping into a brown haired boy in a red sweater. Their colliding bodies made a *thump* noise as the pair fell backwards, barely catching themselves. “Oh no, I’m so sorry!” Ophelia began to apologize profusely before noticing the young man’s face, which was filled with amusement and forgiveness.
He smoothed his sweater and smiled. “It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”
Ophelia covered her mouth and laughed. “I'm such a klutz! I didn’t see you there!”

“That’s alright. I’ve never seen you around here. Did you transfer, or something?” Ophelia looked around the room a little nervously. “Well, not exactly. I’m a freshman here. My name is uh, Ophelia.” It’s probably safe to use my real name, right? I’m just being paranoid.
Gideon smiled cheesily. “Ophelia? That’s a beautiful name. I’m Gideon. It’s too bad you’re a freshman. I’m a senior, already graduated actually. So is my niece Eden and my friend Carter. We’re just about to head back home.”
Ophelia thought it strange Gideon’s niece was his same age, but of course she of all people had no right to judge someone’s family. “Well, that’s disappointing. It was nice meeting you Gideon. I better get going.” Ophelia gave a little wave and started to walk away.

“Hey, wait a second!” Gideon grabbed Ophelia’s hand, gently stopping her from leaving. “Sorry, I’m not trying to be too forward here but, I’m really glad to have met you, and I’d really like to see you again. You should come by my home sometime so we can get to know each other better.”
Ophelia smiled, agreeing shyly. The two exchanged phone numbers before parting ways, both with butterflies in their tummy.

Gideon moved back to Pleasantview and found himself having daily phone conversations with Ophelia. The pair talked and laughed, growing closer and closer until Ophelia finally agreed to venture off campus and visit her new friend. One Saturday morning, she found herself in front of a very expensive looking home on her way to Gideon’s. “This can’t be right…”

Ophelia inched closer to the great brick house. There’s no way a single guy fresh out of college could afford a house like this. Ophelia’s eyes widened as she saw a butler walk out of a nearby flower garden. She looked the house up and down while standing nervously at the front gate. He must have given me the wrong address. Ophelia’s nerves were calmed when she detected Gideon walking out the front door. He squinted through the sun, smiling and waving at her.

Gideon practically flew down the porch steps. He undid the latch and stepped through the gate to greet Ophelia. He smiled a toothy grin at her. “It’s so great to see you in person again. As much as I love our phone conversations, I have to say I’ve been missing those green eyes.”

Ophelia’s heart fluttered and she quickly changed the subject. “It’s good to see you too but, I wasn’t expecting this.” Ophelia gestured towards the mansion and well groomed lawn. “I had no idea you were so wealthy.”
Gideon laughed. “Yeah well, surprise. I don’t like to talk about it, per se. But since you’re already here, I might as well show you around.” Gideon winked at Ophelia and opened the gate for her, making her heart skip yet another beat.

Gideon and Ophelia stepped into the entrance room, both grinning. It was elegant and modern, beautifully decorated. The way the light shone through the windows gave the home a regal, yet comfortable feel. “Wow”, Ophelia breathed, clearly dazzled. “Did you decorate this place by yourself?” This seems like an awfully big house for one person, she thought to herself.
Gideon smiled and nodded. “I did. This home has been in my family for decades. It’s very old, but that’s not why it needed some remodeling and redecorating…”

Ophelia continued smiling. “Well then, why the change? You did a wonderful job, by the way.”
Gideon’s smile faded before turning away from Ophelia. “Well, my older brother and his wife lived here before me. They were the rightful owners of the home since our father…he passed away before I was born. But there was a tremendous fire. The home was destroyed and my family…they didn’t survive.”
Ophelia gasped. She had never seen the cheerful Gideon so grim. “I’m so sorry, Gideon. I don’t know what to say.”
Gideon shook his head. “It’s alright. Don’t pity me. I barely knew him. He was much older than me and…well, we had different mothers to say the least.” Gideon gulped uncomfortably and Ophelia could tell it was the end of the discussion. “C’mon, I’ll show you the living room.”

Gideon led Ophelia into the living room. “Here we are,” he said quietly, trying to shake off his now blue mood.
Ophelia smiled reassuringly. “It’s lovely in here too.” She walked around, exploring every lavish painting, nook, and cranny. Gideon watched her quietly. He loved the way she squinted her eyes when looking closely at something, the way she tossed her braids off her shoulders, the way her hips swayed when she walked.

Before he could talk himself out of it, Gideon impulsively walked towards Ophelia and grabbed her hand. She spun around to face him, her lips parted ever so slightly in suprise. “Listen, Ophelia. I know we haven’t known each other very long and that I’m quite a bit older than you, but I like you…a lot.” He moved in closer. “I’d like to take you out on a real date sometime, not just me showing you around my house. Would that be alright?”

Ophelia looked longingly into Gideon’s gentle brown eyes and without saying a word, kissed him softly on the lips. She ran her fingers through his hair as he tipped her chin towards his. This is it, Ophelia thought. I’m never going back to Strangetown again.

PLEASANT

Felix Pleasant strutted across his bedroom towards his fiancé, Eden Dreamer. She was adjusting her hair and makeup in their mirror, making sure her look for the night was perfect. Felix eyed Eden up and down, fixated on how sensual the tight fitting red dress made her body look. Perhaps she was over dressed for the occasion, the occasion being a business dinner with Felix’s boss. Felix’s boss also happened to be his sister’s husband. “You look fabulous, Eden.”

Eden smiled her million dollar smile, the smile that had won her over many men in college. Now she was graduated and engaged. Everyone expected her to act like a lady. Once upon a time Eden had been a cynical and sarcastic girl with a responsible head on her shoulders. Beauty and adoration changed her. She knew she could control men to get what she wanted, and she couldn’t stop. “Thank you, Felix darling. Are you almost ready to go?”

Felix nodded. “Yes but, are you? You’re certainly spending a lot of time in front of that mirror to prepare for such a simple outing. Don’t you think you’re overdoing it, just a tad? It's just Angela and Dustin.”
Eden snapped her neck towards Felix, surprised he had questioned her. “Yes dear but, you never know who we might bump into. Besides, it’s a business dinner. We have to dress to impress.”

Eden turned back towards the mirror and Felix walked away. Since Eden had graduated and moved in with Felix, he always got the feeling she was trying to be somebody she wasn’t. He didn’t like how hard she tried to impress other men. He began to think maybe he had misjudged her personality as thoughts of Destiny began to resurface in his mind.

Felix and Eden sat patiently in Londoste while waiting for their dinner party. Felix tried making awkward small talk while Eden looked around the room, distracted by anyone who would pay her some attention. She tossed her bouncy black curls around and laughed more loudly than necessary. Finally from behind her she heard, “Eden? Is that you?” Dustin Broke stood speechless, eyeing his best friend’s little sister up and down.

Dustin flashed Eden a devilish grin as she turned around to face him, soaking up the attention. “My, my, my. I think the last time I saw you was at your parents’ anniversary party. Weren't you still in high school then? You’ve certainly grown up.” He helped himself to a seat, ignoring Angela and Felix.

Angela stood behind her husband solemnly, clearing her throat in an obvious manner. Embarrassed, Dustin scratched the back of his neck. “Er...Eden and Felix, you obviously know Angela, my wife.”
Angela helped herself to a seat; she was not amused. “Eden was always closer to Lilith.”
Eden nodded towards her sister in law’s enemy. “Yes well, it’s good to see you again, Angela.”

Felix could feel the tension growing. “That’s a lovely dress, Angela. You look wonderful.”
Angela managed a small smile. “Thank you, Felix. It’s the first thing I’ve worn that’s not black since Lucy’s death.” Angela shot Eden a cold look. “Did you know Lucy, Eden?”
Eden shrugged uncomfortably. “Well, yes I did. She’s, was my fiancé's cousin. And you know how close her brother Tristan and I once were.”
Angela pursed her lips, remembering how Eden had broken Tristan’s heart once or twice. “Quite.”

Felix looked over towards Dustin. The night was growing worse by the second. “So Dustin, shall we discuss this business proposal?”
Eden laughed loudly, brushing of Felix’s suggestion. “Oh Felix, you workaholic. They just got here. Let’s talk about something pleasant for a while.”
Felix winced. “Well uhm, alright.”

Eden and Dustin spent the rest of the night facing each other and tipping back wine. They were wrapped up in themselves, blatantly flirting and carrying on right in front their spouses and the entire population of Londoste. They were so engrossed in their private conversation that neither noticed when Felix and Angela got up to leave.

* * *

Eden and Felix didn’t speak during the car ride home. Felix pulled into the driveway and let the car run. He did not move and he did not look at his fiancé. Eden grew impatient. “Will you turn off the car? I’d like to get out and go up to bed.” Felix ignored her and Eden made a disgusted noise as she flung the door open and stepped out.

Felix chased after her, enraged. “What the hell was that back there?”
Eden crossed her arms and sneered at Felix. “What are you talking about?”
Felix narrowed his eyebrows even further. “You know exactly what I’m talking about! I couldn’t pull you and Dustin apart. It was humiliating for not only me but my sister. How dare you?! That was supposed to be a business dinner! Not a blind date!”

Eden flung her hand in the air dismissively. “Oh Felix, try not to be so dramatic. I was just being friendly, personable. You’re supposed to be talkative and vivacious at those kinds of things.”
Felix shook his head. “That was not friendly. That was borderline cheating.”

“Oh, so I’m a cheater because I know how to have a good time? You just sat there like a stick in the mud. That’s exactly what you are. You’re so boring, Felix. I can hardly stand it anymore.”
Felix paused, then decided to go for the kill. “Destiny didn’t think I was boring.”
Enraged, Eden raised her hand as if she was going to strike Felix. She stopped in mid air and simply whispered eerily. “How dare you bring her into this.”

Felix was now screaming at the top of his lungs. “We are engaged, dammit! Don’t you ever hit me! If you ruin this, if you cross me Eden Dreamer, it’ll be the last thing you ever do.”
Eden walked towards the house casually without looking back. “You don’t scare me. You’re never going to do better than me.”

BROKE

Dustin Broke was busy in his office when a knock on the door disrupted him. Before he could say “come in” the door opened and in strutted a surprise visitor. Dustin crossed his arms and smiled brightly. “Eden? I wasn’t expecting to see you.”
She smiled coyly and sauntered towards his desk. “Hello, Dustin. Having a nice day?”
He nodded, still smiling. “Well yeah, I suppose so. Why uh, why are you here?”

Eden walked behind the desk and pushed her body very close to Dustin’s. “I’m here on business.”
Dustin breathed a sigh of relief, although it was hard to keep his eyes off Eden’s exposed breasts. “Well, what can I help you with?”
Eden smiled devilishly and turned around to tinker with the pictures and pencils on Dustin’s desk. She was quiet, not answering his question which only made Dustin sweat.

Eden turned back around to face Dustin. “Tell me, Dustin. How many lovers have you had?”
Dustin’s eyes widened and he pulled on his neck tie nervously. “Well Eden, that’s a very personal question.”
Eden laughed. “If I'm not mistaken, and I don't believe I am, Angela was your first girlfriend. You married her. So that would mean the answer you’re looking for is one lover. Unless, of course, you’ve cheated on your wife. You’re not a cheater, are you Dustin?”

Dustin gulped. “No. I’ve never cheated on her.”
Eden smiled, pleased with herself. “Do you want me, Dustin? I’m not a little girl anymore. I saw how you looked at me at dinner the other night.”
Dustin could feel his heart pounding in his chest. “Eden, you’re a beautiful girl…”
“C’mon Dustin. Angela hasn’t been the same since her cousin died. You said so yourself.”

Eden leaned into Dustin's neck; he could feel her breath on his skin which made his hair stand on end. “I want to give you exactly what you want, Dustin. Something I know you’re not going to get from Angela anymore.”

* * *

Dustin walked into his home late that night. After seeing a half eaten birthday cake on the counter he instantly realized he’d missed Rose’s party. He sighed and hung his head, ashamed yet still giddy from his rendezvous. He scratched the back of his neck nervously and walked into the study where Rose sat. “Hey little girl, what are you doing?”
Rose didn’t turn around. “Applying for scholarships.”
Dustin laughed. “Already? You’ve only been a teenager for what, a couple of hours?”

Rose sighed while shutting of the computer and stood up to face her father. “Daddy, how come you weren’t at my birthday party?”
Dustin squirmed under the judgment of his eldest daughter’s sad, brown eyes. “I’m so sorry I missed your big day sweetie. I just got tied up at the office and lost track of time.”
Rose’s lip began to quiver. “It’s alright, I guess. I just can’t believe you forgot about me.”

Dustin smiled, a twinkle in his eye as he unveiled a white box wrapped in a crisp red bow. “How could I ever forget about my little girl?”
Rose gasped. “For me?”
Dustin chuckled. “Of course it’s for you! Happy birthday, Rosie. Go on, take it!”

Rose took the present and wrapped her arms around her father, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. “Thanks Daddy, I love you!”
Dustin smiled, satisfied with himself. “I love you too, princess. Now run along up to bed. You can finish your scholarships tomorrow.”
Rose scampered upstairs. “Yes, Daddy!”

Feeling like a hero, Dustin exited the study with plans to sneak into bed and curl up next to his wife. Before he got to the stairs, Angela stopped him dead in his tracks. “Welcome home, Dustin.”
He jumped and spun around to see a very unhappy Angela poised on the couch in her fluffy pink robe. “Oh hi sweetie, I see you waited up. I was just wishing Rose a happy birthday and apologizing for…”
Angela held her hand up before Dustin could finish. “Don’t speak.”

Angela stood up and stared at her husband angrily, her face distorted with disgust and rage. “Listen up and listen good, Dustin Broke. Your daughter may be naïve enough to believe that you forgot her birthday because you were ‘tied up at the office’, and she may be loving enough to forgive you over a gift but I sir, am not.”
Dustin gulped. “Sweetie I…”
Angela’s fists flew behind her. “Don’t you call me that! I know exactly what you’ve been up to in that office of yours and I have a pretty damn good idea who with. So don’t you dare call me ‘sweetie’. This ends now, Dustin. If I find out you ever so much as looked at another woman, especially you know who, you will never see me or your children again. Do I make myself clear?”

Dustin didn’t know what to say. He stared at Angela, wide eyed. He nodded and hung his head. “Good,” Angela sneered. “And don’t follow me up to bed.”

DREAMER

Cassandra Dreamer stood on her front porch with her eyes shut tight, letting the rain wash over her face. Despite the cold air and stinging drops, she didn’t move. She liked feeling the coolness and the pain. It made her feel alive; it reminded her of a time when she was happier.

Cassandra snapped out of her trance, remembering what she had come outside to do, which was save the newspaper from getting too soaked. She bent down, her old back cracking while she scooped up the soggy paper. She’d been so forgetful lately, so out of tune with the world around her. Anyone who’s experienced as much loss as myself would feel the same way, surely. Just when she started to accept Darren’s death, Alex and Lucy were taken from the world so early in life. It had changed Cassandra, perhaps permanently she felt.

Cassandra barely made it up the stairs before kneeling on her bed and bursting into tears. Her heart ached all the time now; she wept on her bed for so long that the sky grew dark. I want to go. I’m ready to leave. I want to be with my family. Realizing there was nothing she could do, Cassandra wiped her eyes and stood up to put on her nightgown.

After slipping it on, Cassandra felt the hair on the back of her neck stand as a cool chill swept across her. “This can’t be happening…” She braced herself for what was about to appear before her, too afraid to turn around.

The Grim Reaper handed Cassandra a tiki drink as she began to rapidly fade away. “Thank you,” she whispered. “I was wondering when you would come for me.” Cassandra almost thought she heard the Reaper laugh at her eagerness as she faded away into the night.

I can't believe Dustin would cheat on Angela! My heart sunk a little at that.

Seems like you're having fun writing this, which has made me consider writing a story for my megahood.

I love the Strangetown connections--I hope we get back there soon! I laughed so hard when Lucy was getting the lowdown on all her new neighbors I nearly fell off my chair!

Now this one kept me on the edge of my seat!

Great job! Keep it up!

(So I've been working on mine--plunged right in and was just playing, and playing, and playing--then I went to get the pictures and had over 1000 in the same folder, lol. I figured out a more efficient way to do it after that!)
