As if creating my sims' family trees wasn't complicated enough, I'm now thinking about creating custom careers from the other Sims games .

The Sims 3 ones have already been done. I think they are here on MTS.

I've seen them here and there, but I still wanna try to make my own versions. I had in mind making 'branches' of full-time and part-time careers, like 'Military - Navy', or 'Law Enforcement - Forensics'. Some of the job levels/titles I don't really like so I thought of replacing it with an alternative, and maybe mix-and-match. It's just a thought, I already saved all of the job creating tutorials I could find.

When I read this, I wondered whether I had all the sims 3 careers. I didn't, but I found them on this fabulous site. However, the careers are kind of hard to find, so...

One of the game logics that continue to intrigue me is how, from personal experience, which Sims will appear at a community lot are influenced by whether their loved one(s) are also present. I've seen this innumerable times before, but especially lately with my self Sim's lovers. Before knowing she existed, they rarely showed up even when just passing by. Upon realizing her presence, now either of them or both will arrive almost every time. Kinda hard to work on any skills when they constantly nibble on her ankles for attention, yet among the several annoying Sims out there, they're my preferred pain in the bum. XD
On the other hand, I've witnessed at least one of the same visiting Sim appear quite often despite there being no loved one nearby.

I think a factor in who turns up is who you played last. When I play on community lots (and so too for walkbys now I think of it), invariably it's sims from the last one or two families I played. So much so that if I want to mix things it with who sims socialise with, I have to play my rotation out of order or load up a family and let their lot run for an hour or something.

The first sim I made in the hood in my game almost always turns up first. Then there are a number of regulars But if I want a sim (or sims) to be there, I will get him there one way or the other (either have him in a group outing or teleport).

The new Inteen can't figure out that adults are out of school, and keeps giving me "Need to improve grades" messages on premades. While one fix is to age adults down to teen, then age back up, that messes up the days I set in SimPE to work with my aging mod.
So I'm in SimPE and setting all the premade adults and elders from unknown to private or public school and giving them grades. Which is rather interesting. Where did Circe Beaker go to school? Was she a good student? What about Stephen Tinker? Chester Geike? How did the Curious family feel about Chloe graduating with a B+ instead of an A+? Why do I think she paid more attention to the boys and less to her school work and ended up with only a B+?
All the things to think about, but this is one I only really thought about for a few sims before--I've known for a long time that Gilbert Jacquet is dyslexic and struggled with school, while Malcolm Landgraab found school a cinch, and that they are both the same age and grade, and went to the same private school, and were totally inseparable. But other than the hints in photos, I haven't thought about most of the adult premades school years before.

Sunbee, if you spawn their biological clock, it should solve the problem - although it sounds as though you're having enough fun with the issue that it's not really a problem for you.
Wherever Circe went to school, I'm sure she graduated with an A+, but whether that was because she's smart or because she bullied someone into doing her homework for her is another matter!

Unfortunately, with the new Inteen for UC, the biological clock does not solve the problem. It did with the old AL Inteen, but the UC Inteen seems to solve the problem of teens not getting pregnant that I had with the AL Inteen from ACR (which was weird--the pregnancy scanner would show them as pregnant for an hour, but they wouldn't do the fake adult stage, and the pregnancy would vanish after the hour, however if I used the clock or another hack to manually make the teen pregnant, then it worked). It took me a couple weeks to figure out how to solve it.
It may simply be because the aging mod I use (It's the Proportion) confuses the heck out of UC Inteen. If I had to put money on it, I'd put it on mod confusion. Since ACR reports days to elder as 100+ for calculation purposes (yes, I have the proper modified ACR file for ItP) I can see where other mods would get confused.
I decided the Strangetown adults all went to a public school because the train system was not yet built to Strangetown and they couldn't get to the private school in Veronaville when they were kids. Since I play my schools I don't like to have too many actual schools--I like four: Public Elementary, Public High, Private Elementary, Private High. But I'm sure there were other schools before things got consolidated and the general state of education went downhill . . .

As much as I'd like to use the Summoner item for teleporting whichever Sims I want, I normally don't use it at the risk of their clone showing up shortly after. If they have a loved one present, they'd have to take turns making out or woohooing (jealousy would be turned off anyway) with them. I've had cases of a Sim and their clone appearing even if I didn't summon one of them.

I actually didn't know that. At first I was going to disagree due to the decent amount of playable Sims I have living in my custom neighborhood (only they appear at community lots except for the occasional passing NPC like a chef or a bartender). Yet, when I visited several community lots for testing and noticed almost the same handful of Sims arriving first, everything fell into rhythm like dominoes. These Sims I only played briefly, mainly to update some of their preferences with ACR, but they were nonetheless a more common sight than those I haven't visited lately.
Guess I'll have to revisit my self Sim's lovers to hang out with them for a little while, although I don't mind at all. :D

It's a pain to remember where all the mods and the programs for Sims 2 are. Being fed up with the resolution problems in April I completely uninstalled the game and got rid of all the downloads. Now that I'm feeling better after my surgery I have more energy and have spent most of the day today re-installing the game and trying to find mods.

Also a lot of sites are just gone and then you'll have to search. I am sure the WCIF section will be helpful to you.

I'm always horribly anxious when my Sims get the mystery disease ever since the Plague of 2012, which resulted in every sim over the age of teen dying at least once (there was luckily always someone about to save them from death) to the point where I stopped playing that hood.
Bunsen Beaker, daughter of Loki and Circe contracted it just before she moved off to uni. I forgot and put her in a big dorm... Within 1 rotation, all college Sims have it.

Sounds kind of exciting to me. I have Faster Disease Progression so I sure get my fair share of drama when sims get sick! Almost lost my 8th generation mom to the flu.

I think that's what puts me off getting realistic sickness mods. When it's a flu it's not so bad, but with 1-day rotations, you have to make your Sim well within the day otherwise they spread it when they turn up on other lots and next thing you know everyone's ill

I don't play 1 day rotations so I guess I don't have that problem. I have too little drama in my game so I always appreciate when it happens. Okay maybe not ALWAYS.
Anyway I wouldn't call it "realistic" sickness since I think the percentage of sims dying from illness is way higher than irl. It's simply faster, for purpose of drama. ^^ Before I got that mod I never had a sim who died of illness. So now there's more to look out for in an otherwise too perfect sim world!

Update on my family tree: I'm FINALLY finished with this particular tree. Unfortunately I still can't figure out how to zoom in so the names can be seen but this is how big it is;
The ones on the very bottom left (the two blue boxes with another on the right) is the family I'm gonna play. I already started another family tree, and I bit off more than I could chew with their names. Apparently the sim my sim married is Danish, German, Norwegian, and French descent, and my sim is Scots-Irish and English descent from his great-great grandparents. I went crosseyed trying to find appropriate given names and surnames . I'm kind of a onomatology/etymology nerd so of course this couldn't have been a walk in the park because it needs to be precise. I'm gonna sleep for 3 days when I'm finished with this 'little' project . But I can say that the easiest part is picking their zodiacs and aspirations .
~
Adding an update to this because didn't wan to double post. Finished the Leuenbach family tree; thankfully it's much smaller and not as compilcated. Now I can sleep for the rest of the week .

You know, I’ve always wondered why some NPCs have incomplete character data. They all still count as one character, so what was EA trying to accomplish?
