Default Models from console games (TS2 for console and The Urbz)
I'm not sure if it's the right place for this thread, but i guess it's TS2 after all so...

My target is get the models of outfits, hair, faces etc. from the two console games - The Sims 2 and The Urbz.

Before using the 3D ripper method, I wanted to ask if any Sims modder managed to make any progress on opening or converting any content from these games.

For both games, Gamecube version .ARC archives can be unpacked with BMS script for Bustin' Out: http://aluigi.org/bms/sims_bustin_out.bms , but i cannot find any way to open the models or textures. (Also, model format in The Urbz seems a bit different than in TS2)

Anyone had any luck with getting textures or meshes from these games, or have any progress/info on reading model and image format from these games?

Continuing the research, this version of the script allows to export .ARC from PS2 version https://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=441

And with Console Texture Explorer and proper settings it is possible to preview Textures from both games!

Some research in terms of models:

So apparently, some people figured out how to export "something" from the game by using programs that render models based on hex code: https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21190
This just confirms that the models are not compiled or anything, and making a tool that can convert them into more useful format shouldn't be a huge challenge, sadly, I can't do it myself because I don't have enough knowledge on this topic. I'll try to mess around with the 3D Model Researcher.

On the side note, a helpful thing might be contacting the creator of this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfi...s/?id=503329071 and asking how he get the models, since Bustin' out, The Urbz and TS2 Console use the same engine, just in different versions.

Hey there! Is this still relevant? I recently digged a bit into this too, I am totally new to digging up files. I also managed to get the arc files and with a script from a friend I could crack the textures but they all need formatting with a program that is really tedious. I managed to rip some objects and textures from the game but I have no further knowledge of making objects as of now. I found that in URBZ some of the textures don't come with the colors but instead some sort of combination of the layers make them that way. Im happy to chat on discord if you are still interested in finding things out.
