WCIF: small or medium world (or lighting mod) with this kinda feel or fitting for this idea?
Hi, apologies for not being more specific in my title, but I wasn't sure how to condense all this down more.
Okie, so like, I got this idea for a story based legacy kinda game thing that will start in THIS world, but then later goes to other ones. I want the starting world to be kinda dreary/gloomy/depressing/gray/bleak/eerie and set in either a forest, mountains, swamp, an island (but not a tropical one), or anywhere else very secluded feeling and not so happy. I am also considering using lighting mods on worlds that don't quite have the right feel, but all my other needs/wants. I would also like building places (I can also just bulldoze or add lots, I don't mind) and roads with a good road layout (I cant stand playing in worlds with dumb, nonsensical road layouts like hidden springs). I liked midnight hallow, but it's just too dark for me to bare playing, as well as I didn't like how the plants looked, you can't really add in new ones without them sticking out like a sore thumb.
I've been looking around and haven't quite found anything I particularly liked or had the feeling I was looking for.

What I want to play:

so in short, looking for a world with these, or most of these traits:
  • small or medium (I might also take a larger map if it's really good)
  • is isolated in someway, such as mountains, forest, swamp, or is an island (but not tropical)
  • has roads and a good road layout
  • space for building (or lots I could bulldoze, or space I could put more lots)
  • has a dreary/gloomy/depressing/gray/bleak/eerie feeling (or a lighting mod that can give this feel)
bonus if there's an image of the town/map layout

Here's a collage of images I made to try and give some examples of what I want kinda:
(and warning, image is big, 800x800px)

Haha, Bleake Islands came to my mind immediately, too! It definitely fits but there is not much room for lots.

Thanks both of you! Some of these places look really cool. I'm working on doing up the DIY howell island, but installed a few of these others in the mean time. I'll leave this open in case anybody else knows of any more similar before I get howell done.
