Official MTS 2018 Calendar Contest It is extended for until December 26th or so, in order to hopefully get enough entries in that we can actually do 3 calendars. No promises! I am just hoping.
This was going to be posted yesterday, but due to not getting it discussed until now, it is going up now.
If the month says closed, it is closed for all games. If it says it needs certain games, only those games are allowed to post to those months.
January could use a few more, but if we don't get any more, it is ok. All games
February can use more of all games but needs sims 2 particularly
March can use more of all games but needs Sims 2 particularly
April all games
May needs 2 and 3
June closed
July could use a few more, all games but if we don't get any more it is ok.
August needs all games
September needs 4
October closed
November closed
December closed
It's November and with that brings our 7th annual calendar contest! Contests are now open for entries but you have until the 15th of December to submit an entry. This year we are doing something different. We are doing a combination of all three games in order to have enough pictures for the calendar. A maximum of 6 entries is allowed but only 2 entries per game. You can only enter one shot in any given month, and one winner will be chosen per month across all games.
Use your creativity to showcase your sim as the Miss/Mr in a shot fitting for each month of the year. The picture should be "modeling-esque" shot with your single sim as the main focus representing the "feel" of a particular month. An adorable cupid for Love Day, a teacher for September, or a witch for Spooky Day, the possibilities are endless. Please use northern hemisphere seasons. Seasons expansion pack and use of seasons holidays (Love Day, Spooky Day, etc) not required.Ideally, your photo should be a model shot of a single sim. If you have other sims in the photo, the focus should be on your model, and the other sims should be in the background
Rules
1. 1 picture per entry. You may only enter a month one time but may enter 2 separate months per game.
2. Only 20 entrants per month. Please no place holders. Each spot is only filled once the picture has been submitted.
3. CC is allowed. However, please make sure to follow MTS rules for CC; no pay content.
4. Pictures must be 1000 (width) x 750 (height).
5. No photo editing. That includes reshade. (TS4 entries may include some minor editing due to the lack of seasons in the game) Minor photoeditting is permitted to create weather effects since TS4 does not have anything to simulate weather at this time. Your picture must still look like a game picture though so blurring, drawing onjects/accessories/etc in, adding borders, etc is not permitted. For further details, please see the info button at the bottom of the rules list.
6. When posting your picture, please make sure to include the month it belongs to.
7. REMEMBER: This is a PG-13 Forum! Your entries may not include adult content, pornography, or other inappropriate content. Just because it is Miss/Mr does NOT mean it needs to be raunchy. Any entries that do not adhere to this will be removed. Leefish's July entry for the 2012 Calendar is a perfect example of how to be "sexy" without being raunchy or tasteless.
8. If in doubt of what is acceptable, please check out the former calendar entries from 2015. Sims 2 Sims 3 and Sims 4
Photoshop Rules
Without a Seasons EP, we understand that TS4 doesn’t have all the fancy in-game advantages that TS2 and TS3 have, so for TS4 ONLY we’re gonna alter that rule a little to help you with your seasonal stuff. You may edit your image to add seasonally appropriate weather effects. This could be as simple as adding a few faint white dots to look like gently falling snow or as detailed as hand painting storm clouds with lightning bolts or drawing orangey-red leaves to trees. You may also adjust the lighting/brightness, saturation and perhaps add a faint tint to your image if your chosen weather effect isn’t suited to the day-glo green scenery of Willow Creek. Remember you can also experiment with taking your picture at different times of day for different lighting effects. You may also use mods that add seasonal effects, if you'd like (if you do, please no additional editing - it's an either/or thing)
The important points to note are:
Whatever weather related edits you make should blend well and must look like it’s part of the game. That means no copy and pasting a sky from a real life photograph and if you plan to fiddle with the brightness, saturation or add a tint, it must still look like a game pic, so shouldn’t be too washed out or neon etc.
No photoshopping of the actual sims please (except if you’re doing something that edits the whole image like adjusting brightness).
No photoshopping anything that can’t be described as a seasonally appropriate weather effect. That means no adding objects, accessories, borders, or text etc.
This is absolutely not a requirement. If you can make your image without adding outside weather effects, you’re more than welcome to do so and you won’t be judged any differently.
This quick before and after example is intended to show you what effects can be added and how they can be used. It’s not perfect (excuse the wonky rain!) but should give you an idea of the levels of editing that would be considered acceptable. If you're unsure, please just ask.
Effects Used:
Brightness/contrast
Slightly de-saturated
Slight tint/colour change
Shaded clouds
Drawn on rain

Questions
Q: I already submitted two entries for one game, but I want to do more!
A: Since we're doing a joint calendar this year, you may enter twice per game, giving you 6 chances to win!
Q: I have really great ideas for December. Can I enter 3 times for that month, 1 for each game?
A: No. Since spaces are limited per month, participants are only allowed one entry per month. You'll have to choose which December picture of yours that you think is best. However, if you have any extra pictures that don't make the final cut, please feel free to show them off in the appropriate thread over in (whichever game's) Sims Pictures forum.
Q: I'm not sure if my entry is too sexy.
A: If you're questioning the raciness of your image, ask yourself why. Have someone else take a look it. We also have a live chat that you could pop in and ask other members as well.
Q: I am not sure what type of picture to enter.
A: Check out these threads: Sims 2 Sims 3 and Sims 4 It has examples of past entries to use as examples.
The picture you post will be your final shot - make it good. Posting a random picture of a christmas tree, easter bunny, yourself, etc to reserve a spot is not allowed and it will be deleted.
Once your post has been added to the table, it may not be changed. Do not change the picture, you may not delete it and enter a new month instead, etc. If you choose to delete your entry, you are removing yourself from the contest and no further entries will be permitted from you.
If anyone is notified that they have used pay content, their entries will be disqualified. The spots they had will NOT be held.
Model: Yuzan Bao in the running for Mr. April
Theme: Cherry Blossoms blooming season and general outdoorsy garden atmosphere with laid back or peaceful activity.
Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.
Cool! I tend to hang the calendars in my Sim homes so I'm curious to see what it'll be this year.
I was going to participate again this year, but...

...this is a definite no-no for me. A Sim world without ReShade is not a Sim world me or my Sims want anything to do with anymore. That less ideal world can stay in 2015, where I left it. So I really wonder what can be done without ReShade nowadays. Now with a bit of luck I'll have a new and improved type of graphics mod next year that can't and won't break any rules. Or at least that's the idea, it could still be considered cheating...
By the way, mods, is the holidays CC theme still a thing?

It makes sense from a fairness standpoint. You want to give everyone the option to compete even if they don't have the tools or the graphical power necessary to go all out on everything. That's a good way to approach it.

Grijze, if you really want to participate, you could look at it as a challenge to yourself. Staging a photo and setting up all the elements with what the game (and mods/recolors) can provide to make it visually appealing without editing can be tricky, especially if you've grown so used to ReShade, but it could be fun. After all, it's just one picture. (Or maybe 6).
