This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise
Default Sims 3 Wont Recognize My Graphics Card... Help!
Hello everyone,

I sold my Xbox 360, PS Vita and all their games, In hopes of buying a laptop that will actually run the TS3 without many lag issues.
So I bought a laptop during September, the specifications are:

1000 TB
8GB RAM
Intel I7-4510U
NVIDIA GeForce 840M 2 GB Dedicated VRAM

When I play TS3, It runs really slow, without any expansions or CC... I don't think my PC recognizes the graphics card because when I go to DxDiag in the EA Documents folder. there are 2 0's. I really need help, please! It would mean a lot, I've been trying to play this game properly since 2011. I tried links on how to get TS3 to recognize my graphics driver, but nothing seemed to go as explained, please help me solve this issue, please!

So now it says GeForce GT 650M [Found: 1, Matched: 1] which is great! I'm so glad someone figured it out for me, but how come it isn't using my graphics driver
840M, Is it because the driver is newer than the game so it cannot be used? and now when I start up my game I don't get a graphics driver error, so thanks again!

Yep, make sure you changed both what I bolded in there. Run the game to make sure it says 1024 for texture memory. You can write in 2048 if you want, but the game doesn't use more than 500-800MB.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I have the same issue.
I've done what nitromon suggested but I'm still getting Found: 0, Matched: 1

I have a laptop with the following specs:
Windows 8.1
Intel core i7-4702MQ 2.2GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
16GB DDR3 L Memory
120 SSD + 1TB HDD
Nvidia Geforce GTX 760M

Well, I have no problem with the game. It's running great but I'm just mildly annoyed that DeviceConfig is refusing to cooperate :P.

I was looking up on how to get my graphics card to work properly and was lea to this thread. so I also have a nvidia GTX 840 graphics card. and I try to update it regularly (just did the latest undate) but I don't know if its because I have too much stuff or if its just crappy right now. here is my info from my deviceconfig
