FUNNY ! In My Custom hood I name the laundry Place "Wishy Washy" Also I can't seem to get away from the color blue, and both neighborhood I use blue but different t shades of it.
I guess because when I think of water or a place with water I think of the color blue.

I like that name. *might steal it*
Greengrocers.
Do they still use that term? I can't remember if I showed my farming family who run the greengrocers. I can't really call it a grocery store or a supermarket as all they sell is produce. Their own locally grown and imported fruit and veg.
The Mitchell's grow all maxis crops and fruit trees. After dad became a plantsim I left him that way as it's just very handy running a maxis crop farm.
I do use realistic yields. http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=923
As well as BO's packing fixes to Simwardrobs packing station http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=925
This is part of the row shops and is next to the salon run by Dolly.
They have quite a bit of debt yet which is why the shop looks a little light on. They were rank 9 and went up to 10 while I played this last session.
They managed to afford this little road side stall. This is just another produce bin, but it's cute. Sorry don't know where I got it from but it was recent. I think it's linked to on simcave.
The place is always busy. Townie should pop back next door and get another makeover lol.
They constantly run out of the very expensive grown produce as it flies off the shelves like hot cakes.
Even though half the town is there just to socialize.
A great ending to a great day. Lucy wanted to stay and eat something first, mum said okay. rain and lightening start, fire starts. Of course if customers would not hang around closed shops that wouldn't happen.

I know I've looked at realistic yields before, but for some reason chose not to use it. How does it affect their earning in produce/money? Does it end up being more, or less?

It gives more produce at cheaper prices. BO says what it does.
Since Leefish is going really slowly I will paste it here

Quote:
It changes the yields of all fruit trees, to give 40 units per harvest. It also changes Apples to be no more nutricious than Lemons and Oranges, and it alters their prices to conform to normal food: ยง2 per food point. Additionally it changes the prices for all other produce to the same standard. |

@ joandsarah77 Yes that term "Greengrocers" is still use here in the US, on the regular news they have a segment where they show the man who is the Greengrocer; to let people know what fruits and vegetables are in and good for the seasons.
As always I just "love" your pictures and your businesses, Oh go ahead if you like and use that title for your Laundromat , it just pop into my head while laying in bed, there are different way you can spell it
Wishy Washy or Wishie Washie .

I read that, but I don't know what the normal yield is in terms of cash, so it doesn't tell me much about what the end result is. Does it end up being more, due to being more produce, or is the netto balance lower? (If you know )

I've never really checked. I'm not really a maths or spread sheet kind of person. I think it would probably work out as less cash but it might be close.

I'll have to investigate at some point. It'd be nice if Sims could buy produce a bit cheaper, as I like my Sim kids to get a glass of energy-boost juice every day, so that they manage to stay awake an entire day. Their energy really goes down too fast. But my farmer-couple also really needs cash, so it needs to pan out more or less the same for them in terms of what a plot gives.

@gummilutt
I don't do maths either but I'm using "realistic yields" too. In my farm, produces are set at average since the first generation. With BO's mod in place, produces are sold cheaper than before I got the mod.
@Simonut
I like your Laundromat. I wanted to have one in my hood when I saw Icad's autonomous version of washers and dryers.
@joandsarah77
Nice greengrocery (is that a word?). It seems roomier than your other lots. I like the road stall.I'm not sure but I think there are links in the WCIF forum I found it: http://crispsandkerosene.tumblr.com...nverted-for-ts2
Is the stall just decorative or can one put produces in it?

It's a produce bin, like the ingame ones, so sims buy groceries from it. You can't stock it with your own grown fruit and veg but sims can restock and buy from it. I think that lot is 1 by 2.

@ Essa Thank you the Laundromat was fun to make my Sims are enjoying it, and yes Greengrocery is a word.

Both are small and basic since the hood is new and they both had quite a few mortgage shrubs. In my old hood they were both larger with more sims. Police Station The house part is above and the station below. The station is a home business and sells toy police cars, burglar alarms and a couple of home safety books written by my police officer. Toy police car is from the Booty under simslice. I had my founder go up the ranks in the Maxis law career until he became Police Chief Drivable Police car http://modthesims.info/d/100380 while the game produced me one NPC. Default police uniform by fanseelamb: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=441461 It amuses me that the burglar has tried to rob the police station twice. I didn't feel a small town needed anymore. Although if the burglar and the pick pocket keep up their current rate of robberies I think they will need quite a few more! So much for my quiet sea side town, I've never seen so many burglaries or pockets picked as this place. The place is paid off now and very soon they will move to a larger station in the sub hood 'Dolphin Point'. Once the place is larger I will use the meeting controller to bring in more officers and they will have different ranks using the job stopinator. I was originally going to use sim surgery to make the NPC look like my constable, but he's too cute. I will also have a few sims be criminals with one made to look like the NPC burglar. Then I will start up a prison. Fire Station In my old large fire station I had a Sim3to 2 fireman's pole. I used this between floors with Targa's ascension pieces. http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=97367 Either that or another set has the pieces invisible. So even though they can't slide down the pole they would go to the floor opening and appear down below. Also a home business they sell toy fire trucks, smoke alarms and a couple of books by my fire chef and also one by his wife Birdie for children called 'Smokey the Llama' (she owns the library) Extracted buyable fire truck http://modthesims.info/d/156087 (since they are not a toy making factory) Drivable fire truck http://modthesims.info/d/176796 My fireman uses this career: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=261722 Once they move to a large firehouse it will have some bedrooms added for trainee fire fighters. The first one will need to be female as I would like to change the NPC female firefighter with sim surgery. Almost makes a fire worthwhile, seeing your own sim turn up to put out the fire. |
love your posts & this thread, jo. so many ideas for my hood!
small WCIF if you don't mind: you mentioned a 3t2 fireman's pole. do you know who made it? i've been googling with no luck.

I got mine from NinthWaveSims, but it's been taken down from the site where I got it. It's not on the Graveyard yet. If nobody has an alternate link to a public site with it, I'd be happy to upload it for you.

Offer it to the graveyard Esme, as I am not even sure where my file is as I have it in my old game with it's messy Download folder.

I'll do that. There's a firefighter's coat and a fire axe in the set as well, and I even have the original file that I downloaded, so I don't have to repackage them. I just have to find that file in my jumbled-up "Original files" folder...

If you are uploading them all can you pm me the file as well? Just in case I can't find them.

@joandsarah77 I can't PM them to you because your inbox is full, which is probably also why you missed my reply to your PM last night. I've submitted the files to the Graveyard, but I don't know how long it takes to get them uploaded. In the meantime I've uploaded them to my Box: https://app.box.com/s/kdmz9aibrz17pqgkstys3w76pwfrfctq

Posting again for a new business.
I was looking through some pictures from my old sims 2 folder and found these.
Photo Studio
I can't remember who made this background. if anyone knows let me know so i can add a link.
My photographer would do a photo session and the sim or family would pay him with the wallet controller. he used the career reward camera which I have buyable.
the studio also had a 'makeover' room. Long story about what she was wearing, but I thought at least I would try to improve her looks. Sandy Barret I think it is?
That didn't go so well and she left after the second attempt. She was ugly to start with, so it's an improvement of sorts. She looks better with dark hair anyway. No one is going to notice her lips any longer.
That's all the pictures I could find.

Coral Bay Bank
A very tiny bank...
The bank is owned by Samuel Young, the casual banker as I call him. Instead of a suit he goes bare foot.
All of 1 by 1
There is the 'vault' area which sells coins, gold and certificates, the foyer which sells money boxes, the bankers office sells a commemorative coin. Then the break room and bathroom.
I believe these are all from here.
These money boxes are by PCSims off the graveyard. I tend to have sims gift these to their kids. Sims can put money into these.
They are very close to paying off their loan as they are about rank 8 or 9 and doing quite well.
His two teenagers are 'helping' out now that the business is so busy.
How much 'help' Kai is, is debatable. He has a want to go to college but I don't see it happening.
Thankfully his sister has her head on straight. Restocking and selling things left and right.
Anyone ever notice the terrible nail polish that comes with this Maxis outfit?
