Why no "special" plants are allowed? Life fruits are very expensive and harvesting them and selling them may help a lot in survival

I think that's the reason behind it. This is supposed to be more difficult to make money and earn a life, but using those fruits would make it much much easier.

Alright, so I've decided to try this challenge, but I am playing it through with the sims 4 (mainly because I could never get it to work right with the sims 3 and there are no other threads). I have made a sim with the name of Angel Acosta, although in her parents eyes she was was quite the opposite of her name. She was never good enough to them as she chose to pursue a career in music, rather than becoming a doctor or a surgeon like they wanted. Her mother was never proud when Angel would come home with a new tattoo or more jazz piano books. Angel never fit in with her family. She got angel wings running up her back to remind her of her sister just before she ran away. When she arrived in her new home in Willow Creek, there were not very many houses around, so she didn't have to worry about being recognized. She began making money through playing songs at the local nightclub for any tips she could acquire.
She now has a single room building on her lot with a bed, a shower, a toilet, a stove, a counter, and a fridge. She has also aged up to a YA and is now married to her teenage crush, Carl Singletary.

I am aware I posted this VERY late in my challenge, but I thought it was better late than never.

So I know this is three years later, I tried this challenge a while ago before my computer broke and I couldn't find the junkyard. It turns out that it come with ambitions, so is there another way we could make some money to start out with? This challenge is really fun, and I have a girl and a german shepard to play it with, but I can't find another way to make money excet dumpster diving, and that makes her sick. Also, is it okay for my dog to hunt? And if she has puppies, could I sell them? thanks

This is the first challenge Ive played, and I have had an absolute blast so far! No baby, or anything, honestly I dont know where I'd find the time to get my sim knocked up! 80% of her time is spent jogging between lots, 5% is sleeping and the rest is fishing or harvesting plants. lol

Here's how Suzannah Mayfair spent her last night as a teen:

In my head, the reason she's homeless is she ran away from a religious cult. Her grandmother, who conversely was the one who ran away from her family to join said cult, had a fit of remorse in her old age and gave Suzannah her last $50 from the 'real world', helped her knit a thicker skirt and then helped her escape in the middle of the night. Suzannah's parents are still fanatic adherents of the cult.

I like to pretend that the cabin I built her was actually an old fisherman's shack, since it makes no sense to me that she'd be able to construct something sturdy on her own. Currently it posses a small mudroom, a bathroom and I've just finished an outhouse. Does that count for the 3 room house requirement before looking for a job? Either way, I dont think I will get her employment, its quite a lot of fun being such an active participant in her life. Recently shes been able to socialise a little, at the library etc. when shes weathering out the winter nights. Perhaps soon she'll have an 'accidental' baby. In my head such a thing would cause her to withdraw even more fully from society. Perhaps once the child reaches teenage years and begins inquiring as to their parentage, she'll be convinced to reach back out to the baby daddy. xD

HOLY SHIT YOUR LOT IS GORGEOUS What world is that?

I had the same problem the first time i tried this, so i just made an elder sim and built a basement that i trapped her in. I use TCE to keep her alive, and once the runaway ages up to YA you can kill it off. Its kinda cruel to it, but it works and since it has nothing to do with the challenge, there's no saying you cant give it a nice set-up.

I never really did challenges before, so I am trying this one out. (For the third time...)

Kuroki Anzu, whom I have put into a world of NOTHING. An empty world, with only 3 lots.
Her home; a public lot that has nothing but a dumpster and shrubbery and a public lot that is a public bathroom. (And that one I only put in last minute, cause I realized I had no way to let her take care of her bladder or hygiene)
I also designed her to wear no shoes in any of her outfits. (exception: Outerwear, which has no barefoot option) just to go along with the whole runaway/homeless thing. She's a Loner, Slob, Athletic and Heavy Sleeper.

Since there's nothing in this world, this is more a 'survive on gardening' thing than the potential of getting pregnant (unless there's a setting that can make cyber wohoo lead to pregnancy...).

PS: On her third day and 4th time dumpster diving, she found a 36" TV!

This challenge is actually super easy if you collect items, especially because of a few specific items that are fairly common in game, such as:

Cosmos wildflower: §600
Indian Blanket wildflower: §400
Sweet William wildflower: §200
Gems: §20 - §1600
Metals §20 - §1800
Meteorites: §15 - §4000
Minor animals: §6 - §1000

And even some normal garden items such as Red Berry Beans can be worth up to §200 if they're high quality.

So to make a Hard Mode style for myself, I mixed in some restrictions and challenge rolls either directly from or inspired by by the Escape To Nowhere Challenge rules

Restrictions:
Dumpster Dive (max of 2 times per day)
Collecting (can collect and sell a max of 3 items per day)
Scavenge for scrap (no more than 1 'scavenge' interaction per day)
Fishing & Gardening (can sell a max of 5 items per day)

Challenge Rolls:
Roll 1-20 daily or weekly.

1 - You engaged in some risky behavior and have a pregnancy scare.
(Deduct §25 for a pregnancy test and flip a coin or roll 1-2
1 / heads = pregnant. Use MC or try for baby to get your sim pregnant, or if playing a male, get someone else pregnant
2 / tails = safe)
2 - A police officer saw you dumpster diving and you had to leave everything and make a run for it. Delete all consumable items from your inventory
3 - You came down with the flu and since you can't go to the hospital, you have to stay on your home lot for the next two days and rest. No gardening!
4 - A mysterious benefactor leaves a note at your home lot. "I was just like you once and I survived. So can you! I hope this helps." Add 250 simoleons using familyfunds!
5 - You find a police officer's business card on the ground. Hold onto this! You can use it as a get out of jail free card the next time you roll being caught or under scrutiny.
6 - You got caught lifting some items at the firehouse and must reimburse them and pay fines totaling §250
7 - A little kid keeps following you, she/he is starving and dehydrated and won't survive much longer unless you help. Take the child in? (If yes, add §500, she/he found some money a few days ago and decided to give it to you as thanks. If no, roll again.)
8 - Half off day at the grocery store! (ie. if you spend §100 at the grocery, use familyfunds to refund yourself §50)
9 - Someone has reported you! Take your sleeping bag and get outta dodge. You must stay on a community lot or in the forest overnight while the police and child protective services investigate your home lot.
10 - Someone found your stash and stole half of your money! (ie. if you have §1000, use familyfunds to reduce it to §500)
11 - You left your home lot and somebody stole your most expensive item. (use Object > Delete It to delete without getting funds back) Re-roll if you have a burglar alarm.
12 - Someone dropped a wallet and there's no ID inside. Add §500 using familyfunds!
13 - Nothing important happened today. Spend a quiet day at home skilling or gardening.
14 - National holiday - do whatever you want today, free of collecting / selling restrictions. If any adults see you, you have a free pass.
15 - Blight! Pests have destroyed 1/3 of your garden (use object > delete it! or delete from buy mode to remove a third of your garden)
16 - Skill boost! Use MC to raise any skill by 1 level
17 - You are picked up by a police officer for being out after curfew and ask to be dropped off at your friend's home because you got lost on the way there. Hopefully you have a good friend you can ask to spend the night with!
18 - A teacher (if you are going to school) thinks something doesn't add up about your story. Better lay low for a while with a mysterious ailment. (Cannot leave home lot for two days.)
19 - That's one thing you'll never do again! Your reckless experimentation with herbs has caught up to you. (eat or roast herbs until you have herb nausea and suffer the consequences, then delete whatever herbs you have in inventory)
20 - You were caught stealing food and arrested. Hopefully the police believe your cover story.
(Roll again 1-4.
1 - Your story doesn't add up, but there's an armed robbery in progress and they just don't have time to deal with you right now. Go directly to your home lot and lay low for a day.
2 - Your story passes, but you still have to deal with being caught stealing. Pay a fine of §500.
3 - The police don't believe you and you are sent to a foster home. (Use edit household or a mod to add your runaway to the household of your closest neighbor. Roll 1-2 daily to see if you can runaway and return to your own lot or not.)
4 - The police don't believe you, and unfortunately they aren't feeling very forgiving. You can either join the military or go to jail. Use a birthday cake to age up early and join the military. Accept a random roll for your traits if given the option to choose them.)

Again, these challenge rolls and restrictions are either directly from or inspired by the Escape To Nowhere Challenge and I've been using them in my personal gameplay for this challenge

Honestly, that's why I tend to do this challenge with the extra rule of not collecting flowers - I am unlikely to get rid of Seasons and the wildflowers are so freaking common, it ruins the point of earning money.

I suppose that, as long as you follow the main rules, it doesn't matter how many you make.

that's fine it wont show up when you start like the Whooher and mover mods do. just put the curfew mod in your override file ,not the mod one and make sure its not in its 7zip file type, then play. You will get notes saying curfew is coming but the cops wont come get you. It took my 3 days of messing with it to get it to work. i kept forgetting to take it out of the 7zip file .

I have started this challenge can't wait to see what happens to my Runaway.
--------------------------------------

My name is Susan Yanez. My mother and brother had died in the fire of 2020 and my father....well I wasn't raised with. Social Services came after me and thrown me in with my grandparents who blamed me for the death of Mother and Brother. But not just that I had once ran away and ended up being taken by some guys with mask, sold, beaten, and everything just gose down. So after I had escaped from the horribly men I ran and a black man let me stayed with him.

So now I'm on the run from them and Social Services.

you have to allow it in the mod settings in game, but since I don't exactly know what you have to do i'm gonna offer you an alternative. if you have supernatural, you could just make an adult ghost and then have their spirit move on. then you'll have a household with just a teen. I used to do this when it didn't work for me.

I don't know if I'm doing this wrong. I did import on of my other challenge teens so she did have a (massive) lead in skills, but I mainly had her dumpster diving, yet she could easily make 2000-5000 dollars in a day or so. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what but this makes it so she can do things much too fast for my taste. Anyone have any suggestions?

I created a set of restrictions and challenge rolls for myself which are posted earlier on this page [link] , you could easily modify them for your circumstances by restricting dumpster diving to only once a week on Sunday. Also you could create some circumstance that drains her money, say she has to pay for 'protection' from the local crime boss so half of her money goes to them weekly until she ages up to young adult/builds her own home, etc.
