Oops theres is a basement, forgot the floor plan for it!

@ekrubynaffit I LOVE your exteriors so much !! It really looks like an abandoned piece of the city but that was probably great pride a long time ago. It makes me impatient to see what will be done with it when someone will restore its letters of nobility.

Hello, @Vincent T! I am looking forward to see you at the juice bar (fully stocked )

I am about ready to start trashing my church. Since I am in another time zone and continent, just like Tiffany, I have no exact idea about when the end of the rounds is, so I would also like a clock? Please?

I want to turn my grungy church into a gothic nightclub for vampires. This is cliché but I never made something like this, I think I will reuse this lot for my game after the contest :D

@Justpetro : If I remember correctly, you have an entire week before the end of the round, so for now, don't panic, you still have time :-) !

As far due dates go, I'm interested in knowing what time zone we're using, too. I'm on EST in the US, and I got fuzzled in the last contest and turned my application lot in an hour late because I misread the posted time zone.

I changed my church slighty. Here's the new version.
Should I start grungifying?

I know we (fortunately) have plenty of time, since my church is starting to look like a flying space shuttle. Yet a clock would be nice - just to be sure
Your churches are lovely - all of them. So glad I am not a judge (Jo, you are scarce at the juice bar )

I've already repurposed St. Will's 2.0 into the local church for my BACC neighbourhood Haven in the Valley.

Is there any fireplace in these churches ? I placed some, especially for the kitchen part, but I don't see chimneys on the pictures so I'm wondering if this is a huge mistake or just a choice of ours to make.

You don't usually find fireplaces in churches but they do have underfloor heating and/or radiators in some.

Want a specific style of house or community building? Why not take a look at my profile and see what I build and then come ask me to make it!

That's what I thought... I found some churches that seem to be in the good style and that has fireplaces, but it's like they are decorative because no chimney

Sooo... if we're all done grungifying and are ready to submit for the judges, do we make another post with OFFICIAL ENTRY or something plastered on it?

I would make a post stating that this is your entry. Phaenoh will link it to the table in the first post next time she's online

Omg guys. My 1.5 hr commute just took me 3 hours. It was bumper to bumper, crawling, stop and go traffic the entire 80 effing miles. I'm too tired to even eat dinner, I'm going to check in with y'all and prolly go straight to bed. Like an idiot, that was what my plan was last night too, but I didn't end up hitting the sack until 1. Then I got to do another exhausting day on only 6 hours of sleep. Imma try not to make that same mistake tonight, but at least I can sleep in tomorrow. And you know what else? I only made $11 in tips today. $61 is an awful day's wage. /bitch

Re: countdown clocks. No, I'm not going to post a clock because I hate hard line deadlines on something that is supposed to be fun. As such, I have no methods for docking points for being late. You either get stuff in before it gets to the judges, or it won't get judged/considered for a Building Permit. As long as you get your entry in while it is still Sunday in wherever you are, you are prolly good. While I know I've got great judges, I can't imagine all three of them are going to snap to judging the second we are good to go, so there is prolly some amount of buffer time involved. I hate to see posts an hour past a deadline and get a point docked, so we aren't that kind of contest. That's pretty much all of why our timeline just has dates on it instead. If you still want a deadline to get stuff done by because you work better with a time clock, get your stuff in before I check in on Monday morning. I get on my comp first thing after waking up around 9:30 - 10:30 EST, hello Ohio. Get your stuff done and posted before you normally go to bed on Sunday. If you know you are going to be a day or two late, let us know and that will just be your skip round. Seriously, let's not stress over how many minutes are left to get your thing posted before 3am in some obscure time zone that you can't quickly math a conversion for in your head. Deadlines are good mechanics in general, but we don't need them to complicate our already complicated contest.

Re: due dates. Shell Round 2 starts tomorrow morning. All rounds last TWO weeks. All rounds overlap with another round. Who's good at juggling? Nothing is due tomorrow.

ekrubynaffit, love the basement, here's your stamped City Inspection. Love the landscaping you've got, keep doing what you are doing!

PanAm103, your church looks better. I don't recall if I passed you last round, but this one (still?) passes. Your church needs significantly more detail work, exterior, interior, and landscaping. Look at your fellow contestants WIPs and get ideas from them.

Everyone, Pablo Picasso is famous for saying 'good artists copy, great artists steal'. Students apprenticing under masters would spend YEARS simply copying their masters' works before even being allowed to try their own ideas. I have no problems with any of us getting ideas from each other, no one's churches look similar even though we are all in the same style, so a great idea from one person will look different on another person's church. If you see something you like, don't be afraid to try it out on yours. We get better through trial and error and experimentation. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. If you see someone doing something similar to your posted thing, feel proud you inspired them! This is how we were expected to learn at design school, and it's why I'm providing as many example images as I can for y'all. If you don't feel comfortable making something that looks similar, just straight up build one of the examples that you liked.

xmathyx, no fireplaces. Super weird. Don't bother.

ForeverCamp, yes, please create a new post with all the required photos for judging (more than just pass City Inspection, see requirements in contest description) and state that this is your entry. I will then link to it in my table. You may continue to edit this post right up until judging on Oct 3, but please don't post it up until you have all of your photos ready. If you need to swap one out later, that's totally cool, but I don't need placeholder entries days before you are ready.

so yeah, zzzz.....zzzz.....

I've never seen a contest quite like this, I'm starting to wonder what I got myself into...

First of all I need to apologise to all the contestants and other judges for my withdrawal as a judge from the contest. This was because my place was burgled and among the things stolen were my laptops ( the old and new). So far nothing good has come up but the good news is that I just saw my insurance for the new laptop and it covers a replacement. I spoke to the company today and they said I need to submit a claim with a police report. I just came back from collecting the police report and So will submit my claim today with the police report and hope I get a new one soon.

Now back to the contest, I am so impressed with what am seeing and I just don't know where to start commenting from. All the approved shells that have passed city inspection are all nice and I know the final outcome will be awesomely lovely.

I feel heart broken that am not judging this contest but at the same time happy that we have talented judges taking care of it.

To all the judges, if your juice bar runs dry just tell me and I can supply you with my Palmwine also known as holy water. Just a glass will clear any sleep in your eyes and give you the strenght to do the impossible..... Even to seeing the unseen.

@Phaenor you must have had a tough day. Don't worry a cup of my palmwine will turn you into a super woman.

Okay..... Now to go submit my claim.

Have a nice day everyone

@AdonisPluto - Very sorry to hear about what happened. Hope you get everything straightened out, and really hope they find your things (I know the chances on that. I've been burgled. Thought I'd say it anyway). Be well.

@ Phaenoh : You impress me. Looks like you have so much more energy than I ever had. I hope you're having a good night !

And no fireplace, got it.

Oh, I think we missed porkypine's comment that is asking if this is too late to join for the shell round.

@AdonisPluto : I've been burglared too 11 years ago. Never found back anything. Never found the burglars even if the police had their fingerprints. I'm sorry for what happened. I know how it feels like. Sending you moral support.

What a disgusting thing to have happened to you, @AdonisPluto. Strongs! I am happy your laptop will be replaced, and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Take some time - I know how violated a burglary makes one feel (although in my case, nothing was stolen in the end, I was still very upset for days). It is a pity that you are dropping out, but maybe next time (Palmwine???? May I have some too?)
