Hey, I'm not sure whether I've chosen the right topic, but I need to express my thoughts aloud. xD

So I've just seen the poll on http://www.thesims3.com/community with the question "Which of these game features sound the most exciting?" with the four possible answers to choose:
1) Social features - in-game messaging, friends lists, send Sims to your friends' games!
2) New ACTIVE entertainment career paths - live in the spotlight!
3) Run your own entertainment resort - attract tourists, hire entertainers, keep guests happy!
4) Live in a full resort town- Casinos, entertainment venues and a town full of fun attractions for your Sims!

It sounds really exciting to me and who knows - maybe some day there would be an EP with theme parks, casinos and more? That would be so great!

How do you think?

It's funny you should find this, because I've been pondering what the next "original" idea for an EP will be. Sims 3 seems to be following the same pattern as Sims 2, in that we've been getting one sort of "remake" EP, and then an "original" EP, so if pets (Unleashed) is the next EP after Generations, then the EP after it would be an "original" concept. The thing is I was stumped as far as original ideas go, since so much of what I want in Sims 3 was stuff we had in Sims 2. This poll intrigues me now!

I would love an EP centered around resorts and attractions! Casinos would be great fun! It mentions living in a resort town, which would be great, but I think it would be even better if they introduced the ability for Sims to visit other neighborhoods. That way your playable Sims could live in a "quieter" community like Sunset Valley, but still visit the resort town. That would be a perfect EP to introduce that feature, as well as allowing Sims to move from town to town.

The second poll option is interesting as well. It sounds sort of like Ambitions meets Superstar. It seems like that would've been introduced in Late Night though with celebrities.

Honestly, all the options sound pretty neat, but the first option probably is my least favorite. Already with Generations they're introducing the ability to share memories on Facebook, which I feel is unnecessary. I'd rather they focus on gaming features, rather than social networking and adding online features, which I'm sure many won't even take advantage of :P

I have seen some players mention that they would like to introduce Sims with disabilities in the game sometime. I would also like to see this as I am a person with a disability.

THIS PLEASE. Every heir in my legacy family is a doctor. I know they've already got so many features compared to the others, but really, disabilities were one of the things I've been looking forward to since forever. Also death by shark attack.

Default The Sims 3: Getaway
After investigating WA and seeing what it was/gameplay etc. I decided that they really missed the idea of a Vacation EP (in my opinion) so after countless ideas of thinking and planning i have Decided to create my own EP which would focus on the more relaxing side of Vacations rather than the Adventure side, so i present to you, The Sims 3: Getaway

There would be 3 Destinations for your sims to visit

- Simoola (Tropical)
- Mount Simmore (Nature/Camping)
- Freezing Sim Resort (Skiing/Winter)

There would be no need to gain Visa Points to stay longer at the destinations, To go away, you go on the phone or computer and select travel, you then can choose which destination to travel too (if you have WA installed there will be 6 icons but without only 3) you can stay for a Minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 14.
Once you arrive you are asked to choose a place to stay, there will be a wide range of accommodation, from hostels to Private beach houses and everything in between.

Simoola: Gentle rolling oceans, White sandy beaches, Hula Dancers and Pineapples, Pretty much sums up Simoola, once you arrive there is so much waiting on your doorstep, Pay a visit to the beach and build a sandcastle or take a dip in the sea or stay at the hotel and sit by the pool and work on your tan.
Once your feeling hungry, why not pay a visit to the poolside bar, or if your feeling more hungry, try the Restaurants and sample some Exotic Dishes.
Once your full, head over to the public Beach and watch the Hula Dancers, or Sample a Cocktail at the beach.
Feeling adventurous, why not learn to Surf, and if your feeling good enough you can take part in a competition and win a Cash Prize...
Hire an ATV and explore the Hills to the east, go for a hilltop picnic, or visit one of the Empty beaches, maybe even discover some Treasure...?

Mount Simmore:
Get in touch with Nature and Rough it in a Tent in the great outdoors, Hire an RV and go on a road trip, or if you don't fancy that, hire a lodge or stay in a hotel...
Take a dip in the Chilly waters of the Great Lake, take some Woodcutter Lessons, Absail down the Mountain Face, or go White water rafting, just some of the many activities available on Vacation at Mount Simmore....
Hire a tent and pitch it at one of the campsites while the kids learn how to milk a cow, Pay a visit to Sweaty Springs and Enjoy a Relaxing dip in the Water or have your Senses manipulated by the Masseuse, sit by a campfire and share stories or enjoy the Rustic Food of Mount Simmore and the Rustic way of life.

Freezing Sim Resort:
Get in touch with your Wild side and visit the snowy Resort of Freezing Sim Resort, Hire a private lodge and enjoy some peace a quiet, Stay in a mountain top Hotel and Enjoy the Close proximity to the Skiing Hills and the beautiful Views.
Learn to Ski, Snowboard or just play in the snow, Watch other sims Break their Legs from your balcony Window and try to avoid doing the same to yourself.
If your sim if an adrenaline junky and Fancies throwing themselves of a bridge then why not try some bungee jumping, or for the slightly more sane, try skiing and enjoy the thrill and excitement, then pay a visit to the Restaurants and Enjoy the Food on offer, or pay a visit to the Health and Beauty Spa and Work on your tan, get fit, enjoy a massage, Pay a visit to the sauna, or Try your hand at yoga.

Some Features in the Game:

- Order room service, great food, no hassle
- Learn the Surfing, Skiing, Snowboarding and Yoga Skills
- Let your Sims enjoy the Fantastic Trip Moodlet for 7 days (+80 mood)
- Keep an album of the families holidays to look back on
- Mingle with sims from other Neighbourhoods (Riverview, Twinbrook etc.)
- Take a break from the 9-5 routine to Relax and Bond with the families
- Take honeymoons - or Propose on vacation
- Purchase Vacation Homes
And much much more...

New Things:

- New traits such as Adrenaline junky...
- Go off-roading in the ATV's
- Enjoy the 3 different massages each destination has to offer
- Enjoy a tan, certain to get that special someone's attention
- New moodlet's Such as Great Hotel and Tanned...
- 200+ new items

When I saw this topic, I thought it was about a real future EP. It's quite a misleading topic title.

Seriously, this is a very ambitious project. Personally I just can't wait to see what you will attempt, no matter success or failure.

Let me start off by asking, how do you plan to offer a few features like "Mingle with sims from other worlds", if we don't even have a parallel world between neighborhoods.

What is "skiing"? I can see if you want to do "Yoga" because it can derive from martial art but with different animations. But skiing involves a whole lot more. Same with "Surfing" which even asks for even more tweaks since it will have to do with water (which is impassable for sims currently).

ATV, explore the hills? This will involve vehicles going off road?

Build sand castle? Looks like this and maybe a few other features will derive of next EP "Generations"?

Do you have the technical skill to deal with such challenge? I am not here to doubt and prove you wrong, in fact, I am way more than happy to hope you can deliver even half of what are written here. If you can do this, I will definitely donate $20. But please don't override existing WA vacation spots, create new ones if you can (the 4th vacation spot).

I work for a living, but I don't necessarily live for a working.

I was about to correct the person above and say "don't be silly, she's not going to make this EP, she's just saying what a good idea it would've been instead of World Adventures!" But after rereading the topic - I was proven wrong. Oops

Wow, I think this would be incredibly difficult...

I do miss the way Sims2 handled the vacation worlds. Not that the vacations we got with WA were bad, by any means... but... I want to be able to create my own vacation spots, like we used to be able to do. I also miss the souvenirs and sending postcards.

However, making an EP all by yourself, yikes. By the time you're done with it, we might be playing Sims 4. Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress.

Don't discourage him. By the sound of it, he may have a lot done already (or I had hoped). If he succeeds, he will be the first person in the world (as far as I know) who successfully creates an unofficial EP for any known Sims games.

If given enough free time (and maybe even monetary gain), I can undoubtedly create any object ever offered on MTS or any other site, with relative ease; I can even dapple with script and core mods. But ... attempting to create enough content to be called a new EP with such custom features (like off-road vehicles, new skills and animations, new interactions, etc...) is really unheard of, I wouldn't even know where to begin.

So if anything, I won't mind putting on my cheerleading outfit and cheer OP all the way, even for the sheer confidence and ambition to attempt such feast.

I work for a living, but I don't necessarily live for a working.

BubbelsDarling I think it's a great concept idea. I really didn't like the game play style of WA and when I had to reinstall the game I left WA out. The kind of expansion you've disribed sounds much more like the type of expansion I would of liked playing.

What new features would you like to see in Sims 3?
Well, all is said in the title I'd love to see a more refined coward trait. A phobias feature. And maybe (This one is a biggy, I love Trampolining.) Different shaped trampolines. That square one that comes with Ambitions bores me. What would you like to see?

Phobias would be awesome! More than just water and electricity.

I definitely want to see weather.... storms, lightning (like the one Criminal event but all over), snow... basically Seasons! The occasional Tornado too!

Water Parks and Amusement Parks!

I'd like to see more complex burglaries to be honest...I'm tired of seeing the same person barge through the door and steal the toilet.
I want better animations for cars. I want to see them pull out of the driveway, and my sims park them.
I want the "clumsy" trait to have more to it. Sims should trip while carrying food, or maybe even babies. They should randomly fall over, and they should be able to fall down the stairs.
The "evil" trait should have more also. Tripping sims, locking them in elevators, pushing them down the stairs, etc.

I'm hoping to see A true OFB feature EP in EP6 where you can run your own, control and manage your venue lots (instead of rabbit holes) select your own uniform in CAS or similar to Stylist CAS, be your own boss hire or fire whoever you want to.
Create closing times and opening times same for every different venues too make it into a profession for example... (but it's optional of course)

- Bakery & restaurants (add new food recipes like more different cakes fruitcakes, cupcakes, tarmitsu, fruits tarts, puffs and have the ability to select on what's on the menu)

- Florist shop (Explanatory if you have Generations coming up)
- A furniture shop
- Car dealer shop
- toy shop (the ones who have an inventor skill is definitely recommended)

Add some new stuff that no one has seen before like...

- Goth/ghost shop To sell ghosts that you acquired from Ambitions, vampire packs, plasma fruits, to other Sims

- Any Bar venues (the one's from LN) manage them assign your employees the one who have a very decent Mixology skill can make drinks as usual and assign happy. hours,

- Ice cream shop/dessert shop Make fruit smoothies, ice cream just like mixologst skill remember Sims 1 hot date? oh lollipops, chocolate, gummy bears (plumbobs) make them effective so you sim can have a minty fresh breath or a nice hunger bonus.

btw, if your sims have the Evil and Mean-spirited trait they can prank or poison sims!

- pet adoption shops (once Sims 3 unleashed is here)
- Spa shop
- clothing shop

- new Plants/fruits spawners
- new recipes

The consignment shop is nice but it is totally different from owning it and cannot set your own prices.

- to be able to create infinite number of sub-hoods, set it as a suburb vacation or city in CAW and finally to be able to travel between them without losing your relationships and family trees. I really don't like to be move my sims to a new town and lose my legacy family tree and relationships. (this should be the only loading screen) if WA had vacations to travel why not this very important feature? it might make the game play better?

- Woohoo in cars,hammocks,etc...
- bathe babies and toddlers
- cancel the car pool (with out mods!)
- and of course Weather!

I definitely agree about the burglaries. Just the other day, my Sim got into the elevator with the burglar headed up to rob her apartment. I mean, come on! There needs to be better awareness with the burglaries in the game. I liked the idea behind the Unsavory Charlatan in Bon Voyage but they need to take it one step further and not make it so easy to avoid him (like not naming him the "Unsavory Charlatan") and have his grifting be more autonomous like just a random NPC that comes up and talks to you and then takes everything in your inventory.

I just got to thinking about how an expansion that includes weather should go.

Edit Town Mode
- There will be a season setting on the UI where the player will be able to set how many days a season lasts per season. I don't know about you, but where I live it seems like we go straight into summer/winter.
- There will also be a temperature slider in the UI, and the player will be allowed to set a "normal" high/low and a "record" high/low temperature for that town for each "season".
- A "School vacation?" option below all 4 seasons, but only one season can be picked and will last a portion of a child/teen sim's age length.

Buy/Build
- Now that there is weather in this concept it would be great to have (customizable) greenhouses back. The greenhouses will allow sims to grow plants/trees all year long.
- A compost bin that allows sims to turn their trash into cash crops! Great for Eco-Friendly sims who dislike throwing trash away.
- A skylight tool. I mean the ones that go on slanted roofs. (This)
-- Attic walls won't cause route fails. Sims will "bend" to the shape of the wall, as long as the wall is at least half-wall height. Lower walls WILL cause route fails.
- The juicer! How I have missed this! The juice will have similar effects as LN drinks.
- The weather machine! Can either be a lifetime reward, or for those with AMB, the sim can "invent" one. Evil sims will have a ball with this one!
- Diving boards/pool slides. *Knocks on EA's door* Hello?
- Central air conditioning/heating.
- ^Or for those poor sims fans/window/wall air conditioners.
- Radiators
- Also space heaters. Those have a chance of catching fire and destroying a home.
- Maybe insulation? lol
- Something for screened in porches, or a 3 season porch.

Gameplay
- Actual sickness/disease that AMB doctors can vaccinate/cure.
- Weather affects how plants will grow.
- Basements will be cool (and damp in some cases?) and as you go up higher into a house it gets hotter.
- Roofs can become ruined and water will seep through the ceilings. (Sounds like a no?).
- Flooding can occur in homes closer to water, or in basements that aren't on high ground.
- Tornadoes?! Ever notice that wind widget from AMB?
- School vacations will be spent at those "Generations" schools if the parents can afford it/want to if Generations is installed.
- Sims working out will need to make sure they are hydrated by either drinking water or cooled off by a fan/swimming/or air conditioned room.
- Sims will be able to/need to shovel their yards in order to leave their homes by foot during a snowstorm.
- There is a limited supply of produce in grocery stores and sims will need to stock up before a storm. (Maybe not.)
- The power will go out during a thunderstorm/snowstorm! (YAY!)
-- Everyone will get an "It's dark" moodlet. Cowardly sims will get a worse "It's Dark" moodlet.
--- New candles will be used to get rid of the said moodlet. The existing candles will be upgraded to allow this.
-- Electrical objects will not be able to be used due to this.
- I don't remember if solar panels were included in one of the EPs, but they will benefit over everyone else during a storm.
- Sims can swim in lakes/ponds/beaches.

Traits
- Loves Cold/Hates Cold
- Loves Warmth/Hates Warmth
- Loves Snow/Hates Snow
- Loves Rain/ Hates Rain
^These could be a part of the favorites. Eh.

Moodlets
- Heat Stroke (-40 mood) - Sims will be knocked out for two hours or until doused with water. (Dramatic sims will *AHEM* after fainting. No?)
- Oppressive Heat/Humid Atmosphere make a comeback from WA, but with different icons. More negative for "Hates Warmth."
- Blistering cold.
- Beautiful Day [outside]. (+20 moodlet depending on traits) Boosted for Loves the Outdoors. Negative for Hates the Outdoors.
- Soaked, can either be a good or bad moodlet now. Much worse for Hydrophobic sims.
- Singed would be used for being struck by lightning along with an according moodlet.

Etc.
- More produce! Eggplants (nice try EA), strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cucumbers, chili peppers (TOO HOT! Moodlet -20 mood), etc.
- Electronic objects that are outside while raining/snowing have a chance of catching fire either by a lightning strike or use at that time.
- There will be a "weather channel" which will allow sims to know what the weather is on TV, or they could read the newspaper, but the percent chance where the weather person is wrong will vary.
- Daredevil sims will get a fun boost while playing/doing things outside in horrible weather conditions.
- Mean/Evil sims will get a "Fiendishly Delighted" moodlet whenever there is a rainstorm/thunderstorm.
- Cowardly sims will get the "Horrified" moodlet whenever there is a thunderstorm and run inside (to the nearest non-rabbithole building) even if the sim in question loves the rain/outdoors.
- Leaves on trees will fall as temperatures get cold, only if the weather is getting colder, not during a cold day.
- Sims can rake/compost those leaves for their gardens.
- Days get longer/shorter as the seasons progress.
- Parties can be ruined by "bad" weather.

I'm not sure what else to think about with this, but I'll keep editing this list if anything comes to me.

I really do miss weather for the sims. Seasons had really thought it out well with the weather affecting the sims and the world around them. With the more integrated world of Sims 3 wouldn't you have thought weather would have been in the base game.
I know, I know, others have said the same thing and EA never listen. Really though... I miss building snow men and then having to warm my sims up or they'll get ill. It's sounds odd but it makes playing more realistic.

Default phew had quite a bit to say, bare with me ;D
I thought, when everyone was speculating about OLS and then it was confirmed true, it was a hint that the next expansion was going to involve weather somehow and water related things like swimming/sailing and other outdoor activities. Then, when we all found out through rumor that the new expansion was called "Generations" I thought even more that it would be easy to implement these things into the game through it. Think about it, a family outing- go to the beach and swim or play beach/pool volleyball, building sand castles, making another sim into mermen/women, or taking your son/daughter fishing on the lake/kayaking etc...and all the fun activities kids+ do in different weather!

Like: jumping/splashing in puddles in or after the rain, on bad weather days- hide and go seek (in the dark basement =D), blowing bubbles/catching them, four square and other similar activities (I can go on forever...Red Rover anyone?), skipping/double dutch, scavenger hunts, flying kites, riding bikes/roller blading/skate boarding with friends, snowball fights, skating on actual FROZEN WATER instead of buying a $1000000 ice rink that my sims will probably never afford to buy or fit on their lots, unless you cheat (or wait for a loading screen just to visit a skate-park, lol lil' Sims2 rant -_-) creating snowmen/snow forts/snow angels, (trying to catch snowflakes on their tongue lol) even certain sports with easy enough animations- a basket ball net, kicking a soccer ball between 2 sims, dreaming big would be actual game playing (street/ice hockey anyone?) or even a 2-way tennis/badminton game. C'mon all you sports fan simmers!

Even when I heard EA say it was going to make The Sims 3 more like The Sims 2 in away and implement what a lot of fans where asking for, and it will make lives of sims more interesting, I thought this even more so! But, when I watched the official trailer, read the official info, and all the confirmed news and features, I was faced with the reality that what is usually obvious to fans is not always to EA/Maxis or probably just impassible. Tell me you guys don't think this would have made for a more juicier, bankable Generations expansion? For one, they would have had a great way for getting weather out of the way (which everyone and there mother has been asking for -including me :P).

I mean, I'm not really complaining about GEN because I love it already, but EA's gotta add some bacon to there expansions, yah know? This one would have been purrrrfect -which brings me to one other point, it's kind of another let down that weathers not even going to be in the 5th EP. The trailer for Unleashed looks kinda boring...just my opinion don't spork me, I'm an animal lover too! But Oo0oh a horse? (that should have been included in TSM in the first place?? Lol c'mon EA is that really all you got?...Shesh) but a sucker like me will eventually buy it because the horses, deer, raccoons etc... look Ooh Lala Shiny! On that note, really, I just think the trailer is from EA but just a general simulation of the what the game will be like, because they can't include PC features in the trailer if it says it's also for other platforms, ei. N3DS? Remember it was "leaked" right?

My main point is that I would have liked some of these things to be implemented into the game ergo GEN, namely the outdoor activities, especially involving interactions with water! You can tell they put a lot of time creating it to look realistic and I refuse to believe theres all that beautiful water in the game just to fish in (all by your lonesome) and sit there and look all "glisteny" and "purdy" for no other reason, oh well *maybe* in a feature EP. EA is tantalizing...

What do all you guys think about some of these ideas?
