Wow

I was wondering if you/anyone will be making a Rez Car so my sims can drive to the Hard Rock Cafe or the next 49!

It's 24 years old.
It's been used
a lot more than most.
It's louder than a 747.
It's multicolored and none
of the tires are brothers.
I'm the 7th or 8th owner
I know I'll be the last.
What's wrong with it?
Well, the other day
the steering wheel fell off.
The radio doesn't work
but the heater does.
The seats have seen more
asses than a proctologist.
I turn the key, it starts.
I push the brake, it stops.
What else is a car
supposed to do?

--Jim Northrup

Everything looks beautiful!!! I can't wait to set everything up!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Peace!

We definitely discussed a Rez truck and have great hopes of having one in the future. So far the alignment of necessary skill, desire and time has eluded us. Please bribe & cajole any great auto people you know into joining the group.

The Rez truck (and great American farm truck) I have envisioned would also be very environmentally friendly -- having kissed more than a few trees in its day. (Sadly I personally lack the skill to bring this wonder to fruition.)

I'm blown away!! This is an utterly amazing body of work, my download finger could not work fast enough.

I had created my own Ancesters to live again in my game, now they can have new friends that look like them. I love it!!! :lovestruc

AHAHAHAHHAaaa Yep! You Betcha! What's a Rez without official rez cars! lol.. I have 2 in my driveway right now! I want to do a recolor of Dr. Pixel's 1950 ford pickup and make it into a one-eyed ford.... lol That's already in the plans along with Philbert's "Protector' and other Rez cars. We're waiting for Fresh-Prince to get some free time to work on those. He's doing the last of the school year thang and should have some free time this summer.

Hi Y'all,
I really like your Seminole set. It is really accurate (although Chickee huts are normally thatched with palm fronds and Saw Grass I believe ) I do have an observation to make concerning the request for a "REZ Car". I live near the Brighton reservation here in Florida and drive by it nearly everyday. I also have relatives (in-laws) who are Seminole and live there. It has been at least 15 years since I saw anything being driven by any Seminole that even remotely resembled a "REZ Car". They mostly drive huge SUVs and Pick-ups, none of which are more than a year or two old. In fact (LOL), my car more closely resembles the "REZ Car" description than anything I see driven by a Seminole! Especially that last part about "I turn the key, it starts. I push the brake, it stops. What else is a car supposed to do?" In fact I've owned several fitting that description, and I would never be mistaken for Seminole! Another observation...I haven't seen anything even remotely resembling a "REZ Dog" in the last 15 or 20 years either. Pit Bulls and Florida Curr dogs, yes. "REZ Dogs," no. :D

P.S. I understand that the current average monthly income for a Seminole family of 4 (father, mother, 2 children) is around $12,000.00 in allotments from the casinos the tribe owns .

My request for the Rez car was not aimed at any one tribe...It was for my own personal sims Rez.
I think we have all had Rez cars at some point

Hi LittleRedPaint ,
I did understand that yours was a "generic" request, I just wanted to point out that the Seminole Nation is one of, if not the most, affluent tribes in the U.S. Certainly they struggled for it long enough! I can remember driving through Brighton thirty-five years ago and being horrified at the living conditions there. Yes, I saw "Rez Cars" and "Rez Dogs" aplenty at that time. In more recent years, I have lived in Oregon (my neighbor and best friend was Sioux) and Arizona and had occasion to see reservations both places, plus the Colville reservation in Washington. I did see both "Rez Cars" and Rez Dogs" in those places. I do not in the least dispute the existance of those things. I only thought they might not be really appropriate to include in the Seminole set as such.

P!x!3Dust -

Every Rez dog I've ever seen is completely unique ... as are all the dogs I've ever had the pleasure of sharing my home with. We'd really be quite surprised (and rather disappointed) if our Sim Rez Dogs looked like every other dog you've ever met.

As to Rez cars ... well, my personal experience is from Oklahoma, where I don't think there are any formal reservations any more. The vehicle I described is a fairly typical vehicle for the rural areas -- driven by NDN and not-NDN. Many people drive that classic style -- and nearly everybody over 40 has at least owned one in their lifetime. (The parking lot inhabitants of Tulsa are a little different than the rural areas. There, the aveerage parking clutter is closer to your description of Florida.)

There is as much financial and personal taste diversity in the Seminole community as there is in any other widespread community. Driving cars that are less than 2 years old is not the norm in most of the US -- no matter what your background is.

As to the palm fronds and saw grass ... well there seemed to be a shortage in Simville this year, so like inovative people everywhere, we adapted what we had.

True, but we are somewhat limited by what the game can do and what our creators can make. The Seminole are just the first of many Nations we will try to create stuff for. N8iveSims works on the Turtle Island Project - the whole continent....

The Seminole down your way must be rich. We started with the Seminole because one of our team members is Seminole. Lots of other tribes have old clunker cars and too many rez dogs. So yea.. we are kinda crossing rez boundaries a bit, but it's all in fun anyway and if the rez dogs aren't allowed down Florida way, that's probably why too may are up here in Fort Hall, Idaho along with all those Rez Wrecks. Believe me,, there are still tons of 'how in the world does that car start' wrecks on the various reservations.

We have a huge theme and have opened our mod group to all interested persons. Especially people who know authentic from tourist junk. We do however, have to create stuff that works with the Sims2 game so we can't always make things exactly right. :D

Wanna try your hand at meshing/ :D

That could be true. Many tribes depend on their gaming casinos to bring in money. Those tribes which have casinos that are near cities have better luck drawing in tourists and gamblers. Those who live out in the back-side of nowhere are still extremely poor.

Fort Hall, Idaho has a casino but the members are lucky if they get a $500 a year per cap from it. Most of the money earned from the casino goes to pay for infrastructure - roads, housing starts, employee salaries, education programs, scholarships. senior nutrition, i.e. anything that needs funding and is approved by the council. Fort Hall is close enough to town to draw in gamblers and lots of members can get jobs in town, but places like Duck Valley (Shoshone-Paiute rez) on Idaho/ Nevada border are extremely poor and too far from any city to make the commute worth-while. So, lots of the younger people move to town.

Unfortunately, people who see successful reservation economies near their cities tend to think all NDN's make lots of money and it is not true at all. It's still the third world for many of our people, smack dab in the middle of a superpower.

porkypine,
I totally know where you're coming from. I'm well aware that the majority of reservations are extremely poor and that Florida's Seminole success is totally out of the norm.
As a matter of fact, I majored in ethnic studies at the University of Oregon years ago when Barre Toelken was head of the department (long before the Seminoles here in Florida made it "big").
It appears to me though that your leaders are making far better use of the money that is generated by your casino than the Seminole Tribe here in Florida is doing. They quote the high unemployment statistics for tribe members, but the point is why do they need to work when they are handed $3,000.00 each per month just for being Seminole? The young people drop out of school and don't go to college because they don't think it is necessary since they have so much money. I've been told by those in a position to know that on "allotment day" you can smell the money being burned up in Meth and Crack. Nearly all the younger Seminoles my 3 daughters went to school with have been killed in drug/alcohol related car crashes. The older generation is wondering who will be here and qualified to run tribal affairs when they are gone. Personally, I believe they should stop handing out the money to individuals, at least not on such a grand scale, and invest it in the overall welfare and improvements like your tribe is doing.
