Default According to my mother, I'm a poet. ;)
I haven't written in so long. This is some of my old stuff. Angsty teenage poetry!

This is from when I was with my most recent ex. It was perhaps one of the most emotionally intense relationships I have ever been a witness to, let alone been in. Nothing is so intense as the love of a creative soul, no? I miss these days- when I could just pull these feelings out and put them on paper. I'm not sure what happened. I was...16 when I wrote this.

Constellations

For tonight, I feel it's safest on
the edge of the world, where the
stars shine their brightest, and
your hand is the only thing holding
me from falling into the sky.
The constellations have shifted at
your whim, and the only original
remaining is the big dipper-
the same pattern as the freckles
on your stomach. The rest are
sprinkled into Monets and Van
Goghs, and peering from Earth,
it's hard to believe they're nothing
but balls of gas and light. So,
for tonight, I'm the only person
left standing after the big bang
becomes more than just a theory,
except you and the stars in your eyes.
There's so much I wish could fill
your heart, so many words, like
love and us and these constellations,
that will have to suffice for tonight.

And this..I was about 15 when I wrote this- my first love.

Strip Mined

I've been strip mined.
You peeled layers back without restraint,
Digging for the sapphire in my eyes.
There's nothing left
But the dull gray earth tones of my skin,
My complexion conveniently drained
To suit you
And your desperate desire for a host.
You are a parasite of the worst kind,
Sucking down my
Muse, mind, and the entirety of me to
Make something of yourself, something I
Should have been.

My mother, who is a writer, seems to think I've genetically obtained some talent here.
