Did retail therapy.

Ate delicious food

Hopefully, I get clearance from my cardiology appointment for dental surgery.

Our heroine was taken in early, but the doctor is still on the hospital floor. The scale won in the battle of egos and the impromptu cardiology appointment is nerve-racking to Panda as much as going 80mph on Route 80.

Will our heroine be cleared in time for surgery? Or will it be rescheduled, even after giving contact info to the staff? Tune in next time...same thread, same subforum.

I've been having stomach issues for the past year. I'm finally giving in and trying to do something about it. For the longest time I was blaming stress, but even on days where there is nothing going on to cause stress or anxiety, I'm still have too far many problems with heartburn, stomach upset, ect...

I know for sure wheat is now a problem. I eat anything that contains wheat and my asthma flares up within a half hour, then the gut noise starts. I don't know if gluten is also a problem or not. The only way to know without paying out the nose for blood work is eliminate both, wait until everything settles down, then try adding things that contain gluten back in. Brown rice is another food I can no longer tolerate. I eat it and my stomach feels like it is on fire shortly afterwards. I don't eat a lot of sauces, condiments, canned soup ( ick!) and most of the other things that contain gluten, so those shouldn't be a issue. The thing I can think of that contains stealth gluten is soy sauce which I use occasionally.

I went into this thinking it would be easy relatively speaking since I've been dealing with food allergies for what seems like forever. I might have a easier time of it compared to a person that has never had food allergies, but there is still a learning curve. I'm not imposing my new 'diet' on anybody in the house which means sometimes I'm going to have make two versions of dinner and such. This afternoon I dragged out the bread machine as I was in the mood for some bread. The prices for store-bought gluten free bread is ridiculous. The prices for all the gluten free junk food that is everywhere is just as ridiculous. I digress.

My bread came out...okay. It isn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about either. Then because I was making myself a loaf, Dingus decided that he also wanted bread. He and The Boy have a loaf of pumpkin bread. It wasn't even half way through baking and they were claiming who is going to get how much. Some things never change and being protective over homemade bread in my house is one of them.

My aim is to get to a Whole 30-type diet. We eat a lot of veggies and such anyway, but since I can't have nuts and seeds, finding healthy fat sources that I can have is going to be a lot of trial and error. One of the YT channels I watch where there are many food allergies, ghee is used in place of butter. I've never tried it, so that may be a option.

Here's to the next 30 days. I'll post about this again in July. I'm not expecting huge changes, but hopefully I'll feel better than I do right now. Feeling like shizz all the time for a year is a total drag.

Green light for launch! The cardiologist cleared Panda for her dental surgery. But today means another appointment to check medical history via phone call to better apply anesthesia and intubation.

Will the call go smoothly? Or will the delay on the other side be because of numerous quality of life surgeries? Tune in next time...same thread, same subforum.

Things I've learnt since moving to Wales:
Fudge is AMAZING.

Every time I go anywhere they're selling home made fudge. I got some mars bar fudge when I visited Gwyrch Castle last week and ugh its so good. I promised I'd save some for Adam but I think I'm gonna eat it all in 1 sitting. I dunno maybe its not a Welsh thing because I also got fudge at Chester Zoo... but I never had it growing up apart from those generic not homemade ones that tasted like nothing.

Panda went in for a second booster for COVID-19 and is now ready to face the medical background check.

As the week is winding closer to the climax of the operation, Panda is going to be dealing with a wide and varied gamut of emotion. Good thing CS, her counselor will talk with her the day before.

Will our heroine hold on for another hour? Or will fatigue, courtesy of the Sandman, set in and send her to bed? Tune in next time...same thread, same subforum.

Oh dear! Panda has a terrible toothache! Apparently, that second round of antibiotics didn't do anything but make it worse. The left back half of her mouth feels like she got mauled by a bear or ninjas. Luckily, a little bit of massage to the gums, some Tylenol and daydreaming about the flavor of the month, man of her dreams, Richard Epcar; should at least distract her enough to get some rest.

Can she hold out? Or will she cancel the operation? Tune in next time... same thread, same subforum.

If today starts turning ugly like yesterday, it will be a cleaning day. Nobody will know the difference sans the lack of bird food all over the floor ( living with parrots is like living with small children or adult slobs sometimes) and maybe they'll notice the fridge is a bit more organized; not likely.

Yesterday:

I tried to sign up with our local grocery store so we could do grocery pick ups. In the end, I was told the email address that I've been using for 2 years now is not valid. I checked the spelling twice, there was nothing wrong with it. It works fine for everybody else I use the address for. People that run my local grocery are a .... special bunch. If they don't like my valid email address, they must not like my money either. They can bugger off.

The dudes in the house wiped out the pumpkin bread I made the other day; asked for another loaf. I used the same recipe that I made the previous loaf from, it turned into a total fail. When I took the loaf out of the bread machine, the top of the bread collapsed and inside was still raw.

Later, it was time to make dinner. I wasn't in the mood for anything time consuming, so I decided to make a basic chili. It was a excuse to use up some of the stuff in the fridge.

About a month ago I bought a grinder attachment for the hub of my KitchenAid mixer. It wasn't expensive, saves us a few dollars on the grocery bill and works well; 99.9% of the time. Yesterday was a fail. To make the ground beef or hamburger for the chili, I ground up a steak that comes with our meat delivery. To date, this hasn't been a issue. The only difference between yesterday and any other time was the cut of steak I used. Yesterday I wanted to use up the rib eye stuff we had. This tends to be a 'stringy' cut of beef, so I made sure the pieces were cut smaller, removed the excess fat, ect... What I ended up with was basically beef paste and I didn't even grind up all that I trimmed and such. The blade keep getting clogged, the mechanism inside the attachment kept clogging... it was a hot mess.

Today I'm going to try to make more bread. This time I'm going to use the recipe out of the book we bought many moons ago to go with our first bread machine. As for dinner, it is going to be something I can throw in the crockpot, Instant Pot or air fryer. I have a recipe for slow cooker Jambalaya sitting on my desk in front me; sounds like dinner to me. Throw everything in and leave it. The only thing I'll have to add is rice and I can do that in the Instant Pot.

The only other thing I need to do today and throw down some grass seed. The only way I can screw that up is if I don't scratch the seed in deep enough and the birds have themselves a feast before it sprouts.

EDIT: The pumpkin bread I attempted to make this morning came out perfect. Now I can make some gluten free bread so I can have modified vegan french toast for breakfast tomorrow. The 'modified' part is I use ghee for frying instead of coconut oil. I know this change makes the recipe non-vegan, but that's not my reason for using it. It doesn't contain egg and is really basic. I also don't use soy milk ( I make my own oat milk), gluten free flour instead of chickpea flour and I leave out the nutritional yeast.

If anybody wants to the recipe whether to use as it is or to modify like I have, here ya go. https://lovingitvegan.com/vegan-french-toast/

i've been dealing with serious dry eyes since i've been in my game dev program, constantly staring at a screen to do anything i need to do. my sight is unfortunately further damaged because i didn't take very good care of my eyes, but i was able to get some really good drops that last a long time. super nice for use right before bed, too, so my eyes aren't like deserts in the morning.

they are gel so they blur your vision temporarily, but it's very temporary. and a little goes a long way. i like these a lot so i thought i'd share them in case anyone else deals with dry eyes that regular drops don't help.

Panda visited the dermatologist who, when she last saw her, was on the verge of having a baby. (The baby is now a year old.) Panda's skin consist of thickened soles, psoriasis on her ankle and elbows and blind zit popping up in unfortunate spots. The doctor sent her a number of prescription and over the counter ointment.

Turned out the toothache was sensitivity. So, with her toothbrushing allowance, Panda bought a toothpaste that strengthens, desensitizes and whitens with a gentle mint flavor.

The nurse from the hospital called for the special instructions on the day of the surgery. Business as usual with these surgeries, that Panda deserves a punch card and a free surgery of her choosing for her 10th operation.

Panda is in the home stretch, but will she be able to hang on for another 4 days? Will she be fine? Tune in next time... same thread, same subforum...

I know I said I wasn't going to post about this for a month, but working through stomach issues is no joke.

The good news I am feeling better. My elbows are no longer crusty, the cystic acne that appeared has gone away and I'm no longer falling asleep if I sit down for longer than 10 minutes. Getting to this point however has been a adventure.

I started this journey with removing wheat, brown rice, and gluten from my diet. Trying to find a bread recipe that actually works in the bread machine hasn't been fun. I had two loaves completely fail on me, then the recipe that I found and works A) doesn't taste good; it doesn't taste like anything B) It becomes hard after a day or two being in the fridge. Non-yeast-based recipes have worked fine. I don't miss the bread, so whatever.

After getting that stuff out of my life, I was still having a hard time with heartburn. After eating things, keeping in mind what I ate and getting a reaction, I've removed nightshade veggies from my diet. Tomatoes, bell peppers and white potato are the ones I would typically eat. Eggplant makes my tongue feel weird, so for now, those things are also out. A few days later...

Stomach was feeling much better at this point, but I was still relying on Pepto or antacids too much.

I bought so-called organic hot dogs. I figured they were relatively cheap and make for a quick lunch as I've been busy. The hot dogs that I bought contain something called sorbitol.

Quote:
What is sorbitol?

Sorbitol, also called D-sorbitol, 50-70-4, E420, and D-glucitol, is a type of carbohydrate. It falls into a category of sugar alcohols called polyols.

This water-soluble compound is found naturally in some fruits, including apples, apricots, dates, berries, peaches, plums, and figs (1).

It’s also commercially manufactured from corn syrup for use in packaged foods, beverages, and medications.

Commercially, sorbitol is used to preserve moisture, add sweetness, and provide texture to products, as well as potentially support digestive and oral health.

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/what-is-sorbitol

Oh, it is all starting to make sense now. Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke have artificial sweeteners in them which also causes heartburn. In order to have either, I have a sip of either, then have to chase it down with water. My gut no longer tolerates these kinds of sweeteners; artificial or otherwise.

I've eliminated enough from my diet for the time being. If things do not improve in the next week or so, I will start looking into the FODMAP diet. FODMAP stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols.

Today, my mom took me out shopping.

After recuperating for 4 days, she decided a change of scenery would do me good.

So, we went shopping. I finally got a new pair of shoes. Black sneakers with black soles. I was able to stock up on my stomach medicine after it ran out. I even bought a doll for 50% off. But I can't tell my father that I bought it. He's touchy about money since gas and food went up and because Asshole, USA (not my town's real name, just a placeholder for anonymity) is in farm land and services are the next town over, gas and food are important.

We even got to eat inside the Philipsburg Taco Bell for the first time in months.

While unboxing the doll...I cut out the back of the package because it looked like a poster, I saved the picture and pinned it to my corkboard. It featured the other doll characters posing for a photo op from the perspective of the picture.

Today, on a Very Special "The Medical Misadventures of PANDAQUEEN"...

Halfway through June and her period still hasn't come back. Strange. She have been pretty much abstinent from the celibacy thrusted upon her.

She have been without a period for the past two months. They gave her medicine to trigger it to come back, but no results yet.

Panda is concerned about it. As she suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), part of her symptoms is irregular periods (not arriving as expected, blood accidents during sleep, heavy flow, PMS symptoms are screwed up...you get the point)

Her ultrasound appointment last month revealed the cysts have returned. The last time Panda had a cyst, her surgeon pointed out it was the size of a softball, it had veins and nearly tried taking an ovary hostage. The hostage situation was averted, but her diagnosis was bleak when she tested positive for PCOS. And on Halloween. Panda found herself gorging on chocolate in tears that night.

Will Panda see her period return? Or is it really the end of the line? Tune in next time...same thread, same subforum

Edit 14:32 - on an unrelated note...

I finally got a new phone ordered and I will be paying it off over time for the next 3 years.

The current one I have is a Samsung Galaxy S9+, which was bought a couple of years before the pandemic and I have to go through the transition process when I get the new one. As painful as it seems, I don't think it will be a big problem. I have skills in high tech, due in no small part of my father.

BTW, Father's Day in the US is this Sunday. This year, I wrote my father an acrostic poem that highlights his best properties based on his name. My parents have first names that are associated with English royalty and eras of fashions beyond the personal style.

Busy

We have cool weather at the moment. I decided to take advantage of it.

Since it is sunny and breezy, today was a good day to wash critter blankets and hang them out to dry. While I was doing laundry, I decided to wash and wax the floors. The last time the floors saw wax was a few months after COVID decided to take over. The hermit lifestyle isn't without irony.

I brought a floor fan up from downstairs to help dry the floors faster. The irony is while I spent the time washing and waxing the floors, the fan had a bunch of dust stuck to it. It looked like spiders were trying to make curtains on the fan blades. The fan is now sitting outside drying as I used the hose on it when I was done.

It has been one of those weeks. I ordered a food dehydrator from Lowe's. They said it would be in yesterday when I ordered it. Then the powers that be apparently figured out that things being shipped from CA do not levitate from one coast to another. It won't be in until sometime next week.

Houdini was feeling off for a few days. I'm not sure why, but to be on the safe side, I reconfigured their cage so Houdini was on top where I could easily get to her while Sterling had more room on the bottom half. The problem with doing this is I didn't have a extra water bottle in the house. Like any responsible pet parent, I bought a second one. Nobody wants to deal with dehydrated chinchillas.

The first bottle was from Pet Co. It didn't have the ball in the tube animals drink from; it leaked everywhere. I shredded the receipt, so I had to take the loss and tossed it. We bought another water bottle from Tractor Supply. That one had the necessary ball in the tube, but still leaked like a sieve. By this time Houdini is feeling much better after being fed baby food bananas and some carrots that I made in the Instant Pot then mushed them up in the Vitamix. I put their cage back to normal. Houdini has been fine ever since, but I still wanted a extra water bottle.

The leaky bottle from Tractor Supply went back to the store. Dingus decided that it would be in our best interest to test the replacement before leaving the store so we didn't have continue to deal with water bottle drama. I happy to say that the second water bottle does not leak. It has been in their cage since around 10 AM and hasn't even dripped.

I guess it is too much to ask to have things work the first time...

My new phone is now fully operational!

Took a bit of a struggle to get ALL my data onto the new phone, but it is all there!

Now I have a $1400+ debt to pay off, but I at least don't pay it off in one sitting. I am getting used to the concept of lines of credit.

The phone I have now is a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It has a hard drive storage of up to 512 GB and allows for stylus input, which was one of the selling points I pounced on.

I went on a Wal-Mart run with my mother. Picked up $32 worth of groceries, a white bikini in my size and neon pink transparent jelly flip-flops (or thong sandals for my international readers.). Every item in my cart was on sale today. Rollbacks, be purified!

I have plans to take time swimming this summer. I hear swimming is a great way to exercise.

Then, a rather quick stop at the yarn barn.

Then, home to put away our goods.

Then, to the doctor who heard about my tirade against that Porta Potty that should have been cleaned up one more time before it would be thrown into the Trash Masher.

I had lunch at Taco Bell. I asked for black beans, but they were heavy handed on the beans and it spilled out the other end, dripping on the wrapping...

Planning out my summer plans for this year. I want to limit my screen time to a smaller section of the day.

Feeling bad for my father.

June 30th is approaching. That was when my grandmother (his mother) died 8 years ago. He was spoiled rotten by her and in a way, I would receive the same treatment as the first grandchild.

His depression is leaving him like a lead weight. He's practically motionless. He has a list of chores for the day, but with his depression, he probably won't get it done.

I wish I could help him. It's kind of sad to see him like this.

Today was a Wal-Mart run. I bought a soft nightshirt, a t-shirt of Stitch moping with the phrase "Nope...not today", 5 bottles of nail polish, 3 bikinis on clearance, hair bleach for my black coffee colored hair and hair ties as they commonly go missing. I suspect the cat is guilty of the thefts.

My mother and I brunched at Taco Bell as there are very few restaurants that allow lobby dining during the pandemic.

My father is still struggling with depression and his sober drunkenness in his dreams, which, according to AA, is the being sober and craving alcohol at the same time. He moved me to tears when he explained his reasons to abstain drinking.

We also talked about the world situation and how a truck in New Jersey carrying 5 tons of fireworks blew up, causing a tragically insane light show that required 7 fire departments and a Hazmat team to quell the sparks and fire.

Today on "The Medical Misadventures of PANDAQUEEN"...

Dentist was a quick check up, I have to brush with diligent scrutiny.

Nephrologist did a check up and updated my medical records to reflect my new medication since last seeing her.

Today, was exhausting, but otherwise we were able to get everything done. Will Panda have sweet dreams of her favorite mental harem of android husbands (I have hasubandos in various places in my memory. Bit of an anime fan with experience dealing with glitches in the Matrix.) or will the dreamscape get "grunked up" by subconscious fears when Erik Estrada tries to get her to sit down, pass out, or something similar? Will her busy day help her sleep through the night? Tune in next time...same thread, same subforum...

And now for something completely different...

I also had my favorite dinner with my parents and got to see my mom make a wubby for my older cousin's son.

Lately, my droid programming experience is getting better, but randomizing identities for every single one is tougher than I thought.
