Yes, porkypine, you got all the problems I've had so far. BTW, the meshes you made are beautiful...excellent job and the textures are supurb. Now if the animations and BHAV's were tweaked a bit...

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. The gambling equipment was a team effort. Several people had a hand in their creation. meshers, texture artists, animators and BHAV specialists. The other team members who worked on these objects can chip in and discuss what they did if they feel like talking about it.
I am only so-so on textures but I am getting fairly good at meshes. I only understand a little of what is involved with BHAV's and animations but I will try to explain some of the processes involed in making stuff like this. (Any errors are mine)
I know very little about animations - but, I DO know that it is not as easy as people think to create smooth animations. Rebecah was trying to explain basic animations to me and why it is difficult to do them. The EA guys use very expensive software when they are working on the the game animations. The tools that modders have is 'Milkshape', which lacks the necessary functions for a lot of animations so the animations that are there are the best we can do with the available software. You'll have to live with that.
Craps Table - I used a standard dining table as the base cloned item for the 'sit down at' funtion all the rest of the animations were done by hand and are time consuming and difficult to do. The dealers croupier dice pass and swipe take a LOT of work. so does placing bets and calling in the
YEA I won! and the
Dang ! I lost! game animations. So, if you want more sims playing, you'll just have to send a group to play craps and make them place bets. It's fun to watch them win and lose. I don't think the animators will have time right now to 'improve' that functionality because they are all taking apart Sims3 and making new tools and trying to see how to mod Sims3.
Texas Holdem - The footprint error - where sims walk through it - is due to the fact that I used the game's Poker table as the clone items so we could use the shuffle and deal animations as a base, etc. However, merging 2 tables (for the 8 playing positions) just locked things up when just doing just the mesh testing - so I dropped back to one table as the base mesh so it only has the footprints for the original table. Trying to create extra footprints interferred with the BHAV's so that idea was dropped. The animators moved the seats out and changed some of the interactions but we could not set the footprint to cover the whole length of the table without BORKING it.
I did not mesh the one-armed bandit. I only made the coin and pile of coins that plop out.
Anyway. I hope you like the gambling paraphanelia
It is not likely to have the things you mentioned 'fixed' the way you'd like any time soon because of the limitations I tried to explain above.
And I finally got my Sims3 copy and am learning how the game functions and am helping work on the wiki stuff for Sims3 until the modders come out with teh tools I need to make some HAIR meshes for SIms3. :P
