A mod that causes an "At Work" (or "Not At Home") icon to appear next to the names of sims gone to work/school at the time you have your sim call a friend. I can't always remember all the days and hours that all sims would be at work, and I hate wasting time dialing only to find the sim not home.

It's my headcanon that sims who become witches later in life won't ever be as powerful as the sims who inherit witch powers. Now that there are mods that make witchery genetic, it would be great to have a mod that controls these limits instead of me having to do it manually.

I’d like more than 4 families in apartments. Maybe up to 8? I saw this amazing castle apartment, that had 7 units— 1 for the king and queen, 2 for other nobility and 4 for servants or guards. I wish I could fill it up with my own sims and play them all. But With only 4 apartments controllable, randomized Goopy townies will be wandering the halls, loafing about.

Unless EA re-releases Sims 2 remaster on Origin and Simtubers start hyping it, we can't expect a lot.
Probably already mentioned but I would like to have something like Basemental mod - alcholism, drug addiction, dying of it, casual sex, drug dealing and other taboo stuff.
Drugs and alcohol cause positive lifetime wants and needs but if your sim does it excessivly he can become a junkie or an alcoholic. When the sim is under an influence he can do things out of your control (like pets) for example puking, fighting, wohooing, making out, skinny dipping, passing out, eating etc. that people do irl. If your sim wants to become clean or sober, he's having a withdrawal therefore needs and lifetime wants will become very low even if you take care of him. They may also have their wants flooded with taking drugs atm. In that period, the only way to boost a sim's mood is to relapse but we don't want that. It may take 7 days to become clean if the sim doesn't relapse in the meantime. There should be memories for that - trying it for the first time, becoming addicted, relapsing and becoming clean. Same for casual sex (try to replace it with drugs and alcohol). It sounds like a good challenge. My idea is based on a smoking mod for Sims 3.
Also a half open world of couple of lots being playable at the same time would be amazing. If an open world mod was able to be made in TS4 it may be possible in TS2.

I don't know if this exists or not, but I would like to see a mod where teens can get calls from their friends to sneak out; like the scripted event in the Broke household. Outside of that event, it never happens, so I'm under the impression that it's limited to that event.
When a game is predictable, it's boring.
That goes for any medium that isn't life.
That's why The Sims 2 is my favourite sims game.
It has elements of unpredictability and everything feels more involved.
The Sims 4 is another story altogether...

I'd like autonomous "Perform" confined to community lots, and to Sims with at least (say) 5 creativity points. All others should practice!
Before I installed University, my Sims always "practiced". Now, when you invite your friend with zero musical ability round, he'll plonk himself down at the piano with a jam-jar beside him on the floor, and start playing ("performing") abysmally. When he finally stops, he'll look dejectedly in the jar and get upset that there's no money in it. I think some of my Sims would happily pay them to stop!

I thought the "Perform" option only had three styles of music - rock, country, and jazz.

I didn't know they had several different tracks for the "Country", "Rock", and "Jazz" performances. They would always just play the same few riffs, and I would just like to have a few more styles instead of just those three.

A while back, I was wishing there was a mod that allowed sims to sell items to other sims — but they didn’t have to own a business. I imagined something like a rummage sale like they have in TS4.
I found a mod that might work! I’m away from my computer and on my phone do I haven’t tested it yet.

Awesome! Midge makes some of the BEST mods. Gonna have a ball if and when I get the brand new laptop - one with a dedicated graphics card.

I'd like it if there was some sort of "Hangout Attractor" that I could plonk down under a tree so that sims would autonomously sit down there to talk in a group. I like to have sims do group activities at community lots, but not every lot suits a poker table, llama sticks or the (modded) bubble blower. It would be nice to see sims socialising in a group at the park.

Based off of that mod that's just come out to remove attraction between zodiac signs, I wonder if it's possible to make a mod that removes the link between zodiac signs and personalities. I'd like it if they had absolutely nothing to do with each other at all - as a Gemini, I resent the fact that EAxis thinks I'm rude, thank you very much!

I agree that the ridiculous folk belief of the zodiac should have nothing to do with personality, however since the game uses zodiac signs to generate the base personality for newborn Sims, I don't know whether it would be possible to remove them.
Even if someone was able to create a mod where the personality is only created by genetics and chance, the game would probably still assign a zodiac sign to the Sim. Maybe the zodiac could be randomly assigned, but I don't know.
Removing the zodiac from the chemistry system was most likely a much smaller mod than unlinking personality and zodiac signs would be.
Another version would be to just turn the zodiac signs into something else, like replacing the symbols with letters and turning Pisces, Leo., Aries etc. into "Personality A, Personality B, Personality C" etc.
Another idea maybe the zodiacs could be replaced by the INFJ personality types.... Though since there are 16 of those and only 12 zodiacs, I dunno whether that would work

I would like a mod that makes it possible so the child adoption works as the pet adoption.
When you adopt a pet, you can actually choose which pet from the pound you want to adopt.
Ot would be great if that were possible when adopting a child.
That way (for story purposes) when a child is taking away from the Broke family, another family can choose to adopt that Broke family child...
I hope I make any sense and again, I don't want to sound unethical or anything. It's just for gameplay.

You already can, if a child is taken they should be at the top of the list if another family adopts a child.

I don't think it's unethical at all. There are real life situations in which it happens. When a child is placed with relatives or friends, with whom the child already has a good relationship.
I'm wondering if it can be done with one of Inge's teleporters. I know you can adopt Sims with the Teleporter Plus (and almost certainly with the Teleporter Cat too), but I don't know if you can use it to summon children in the adoption pool. (That's because I've never had a child taken away by a social worker! So there's no adoption pool in my game.)

Yes, it is possible to do so. I had a married couple who accidentally died in a domestic fire (thank you More Dangerous Fire mod); the children were taken away by the social worker and later their grandmother took them in custody.
I used the Sim Blender though. The children who have been taken away are available in the summon menu and then they can be moved in with their relatives. I suggest this method if the intention is to relocate a child in the family of their relatives, otherwise the adoption in-game would change the family ties.
