The sims 2 was the best game in the series, EA knew it, which is why they tried to hard to vanish it by removing the official site and trying to stop selling the game on disk. (You can still get it someplaces, but officially its only for sale on that god terrible trashbag called origin).

If EA could they would of applied a form of DRM to cause it to be unplayable if they wanted, just like they did to simcity 2013. Thank god a fan developed and released a patch for simcity to fully play offline yesterday.

Um, no. The game is several years old now. The sales for it just did not justify the expense of making new cds, hosting the site, etc. We all know that if EA were raking in the big bucks, they would NEVER have stopped it. They also probably had a hard time convincing stores to stock it, since shelf space is at a premium, and no stores wanted to take up space on a game that has been officially over for what, 4 years now? After all, stores want to sell new product that will bring people into their business. Not everything has to be a conspiracy, ya know. There aren't a whole lot of games from that period that are still getting support. That's why fan sites, like this one, exist.

It would be against the rules. I said "Patch" but its really a crack.

I wont link to it but its in testing phase. It disables the server code and allows full offline play completely with no issues. You can even start the game without internet.

Righteo. Well I'll keep a look out for it when it's fully developed than. My internet can decide to go off for hours at a time somedays and then be fine for ages. Being always online is not a requirement I want.

The Sims 2 was too good, it makes the following game looks bad, that's why they removed it

WCIF would be a better place to post rather than resurrecting this thread. just like the exchange. We shall miss your badly made photoskin clothes, houses packed with hacks and eye gouging stories. RIP. Now let's not raise it again.

Fair point, however if it's a dead thread then it should have been closed. At least John apologized for bringing it up and if he'd started another thread along the same vein, I'm sure some people would have said "oh there's already a thread on this".

I too wish I could find some of the good stuff originally on the Sims 2 website - in particular several lots by a great builder which I don't have copies of anymore.

No it was a guy called "The SimMan" (that's his youtube channel anyway, I can't remember if he used the same user name on Sims 2 website). He is an Australian guy who built some really nice modern houses. I don't think he uploaded them anywhere else although I could be wrong.

It was not just bad stuff, I remember that I found such lovely outfits back then and now I don't know where to find them

There's a page of MaxoidMonkey objects here at MTS somewhere. I just d/l it all a couple of weeks ago, but now I can't find the page. This place is a nightmare trying to find anything specific, but I've complained about that before.

There's a sim_man123 at TSR with over 1,000 TS2 uploads, but he seems to be from the US (although some people move).
I dunno, might be worth looking at: http://www.thesimsresource.com/artists/sim_man123/

That's a different guy. It's this guy here - video of one his houses being built. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6XvXoJ0AUo

He's one of the few people I've tried to emulate in my own building.

Cool house, and regarding the funny ending to the video, all I can say is that's it's probably better to catch both of your parents in the act, instead of just one of them.

Have you tried contacting him through YT?
