Default Are there really no mods that allow us to add usable streets to a neighborhood?
Background/Reasoning: I've graduated all of my university pre-made Sims to Strangetown but they basically all live along the main drag "Road to Nowhere.' I'd love to have more options for off-roads where I can create little sub-communities because I don't want everyone to be on the main road nor neighbors of the Curiouses, the Beakers, and Olive Specter unless it makes sense for their storyline. Plus, I want to move the Grunts and create other military families to a military barracks type of street.

I'll admit that I'm not the most tech savvy user in terms of understanding game design and coding, so this really might be impossible. My research on this indicates most of the big name modders say this can't be done, but all of the threads I found were from 2010 or earlier, so I wasn't sure if someone had cracked it in the meantime. I know that some folks have suggested SimCity 4 to do this, but I understood that was specific to custom neighborhoods and not the pre-mades like Strangetown.

You can with some trickery add roads to existing maps if you have SimCity 4, and use the HoodReplacer tool to change the map for the new one. That way you can get more roads in an existing neighborhood.

I don't play around with that tool much, so maybe someone else can give you some more pointers.

Criquette has a few pointers on SC4:

You have your game and you like all the sims in it, but you want to have more roads is what I'm understanding. You want Strangetown to have more roads. Fix is kinda simple .. https://modthesims.info/d/279992/ho...an-24-2010.html
Use the hood replacer and you can change any hoods to look like another.
All you do is find a map you like and want to use .. make a hood with it .. then use the replacer to make your hood have that map layout. There are a few choices out there that have expanded Strangetown map, but if you have a specific design in mind I might be willing to help you out as I have SimCity4 and able to make sc4's. I've made many for myself :D

There's a version of Strangetown with a few more roads here that I HoodReplace'd onto my Strangetown, maybe that's close to what you're looking for? https://modthesims.info/d/661355/st...rrain-file.html

Ok this seems almost perfect. I'm only looking for two more roads off of Road to Nowhere that I can make mini-neighborhoods out of. Would that be doable?

One question I have about the hood replacer is that I have lots all over Strangetown now. How does this application interact with those? Sorry if this is super obvious

After using the replacer just move lots onto accessible roads by usin normal in-game function of lot movement
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

The existing lots will stay where they are. The default options are to replace everything but lots, it does fix the elevations of lots to match the new terrain. If you have your existing ST decorated exactly how you want, you will want to untick the relevant hood items if you don't want it copied over. Make sure to keep the Fix Elevation of lots set though, else the edges will be wonky.
